Hey man lady. I love your analysis. It helps those who love fighting games understand what happens on screen even we aren't good at the game. Thank you and you have my support
You can. Pretty much anyone can. The question is HOW LONG it takes you to train your reactions. Daigo has been doing this sort of training ever since he was a kid... starting with crazy shit like using Zangief sweep to punish Guile's cr.MK in SF2 Turbo at 10star speed. Daigo trained for 3 months solid after getting rekt by Tokido @ Topanga Cup before he was able to 'level up'. For normal people, expect to take a LOT longer... but you can do it if you are dedicated enough. This is just oldskool hard work and dedication.
@@shirakani Let's not forget he is not just reacting. There is a lot of game knowledge and reads buried in those reactions. He knows what to expect and when. That makes things a lot more manageable.
The future of sf 5 - reactions. Momochi used to train one hit crouch mk confirm into ca too. That is really what sf 5 emphasizes a lot those confirms off single hits.
Exactly. This has always been the huge thing about SFV that no one gives it credit for. It emphasizes the importance of individual buttons incredibly well. Whether it's crush counters, single hits that are confirmable, or buttons that cancel to V-trigger activation, the game is great about making people respect the opponent's buttons.
@@keeng But nope. Ppl just bitch about SFV not being USF4 for some reason. Dont get me wrong, SFV is by no means perfect, but there are things about this game that were well done. what you mentioned here is a prime example.
@@solitudegaming If you go back to the launch of SFIV, the whole fgc clowned it for not being SF3, having chunky character models, etc. Similarly, people hated the hip-hop/jazz and weird characters in SF3. I'm WAITING for a MF to say "I wish this was SFV" when SFVI launches lol.
Shoutout to all them scrubs out there crying that SFV is "dumped down" and it "doesn't let you express yourself". The difference between someone like Daigo and myself (a mere diamond) is actually much bigger than between me and a Rookie is. Yes, you read that correctly. If we consider Daigo as a perfect 10 then i am a mere 3. It's unlikely i will even be able to land a hit on Daigo.
These things don't really correlate, SFV is easier and has less room to express yourself, but Daigo is a fundamental god at fighting games and can shit on people in any game
@@aero9710 How is it easier? Just because it has less demanding execution doesn't make it easier because fighting games are much more than just execution time.
that's definitely the next level that he's setting the bar for. Once you've mastered the anti-air as habit, you master the knockdown on wiffed attacks as punish.
I remember when everyone was complaining that nothing was reactable in sfv during its launch. Now, SFV has produced some really scary players with 15F reactions
Awesome but still very risky. If your cr.hk is blocked once, your opponent can do a damage the same amount as you do to them for whiff punishment 5 times.
Practicing and playing for 25+ years with consistently good competition and for the past 10 years being able to do it as a full time job makes you that good.
Yes, don't listen to the guy above There are younger players like Punk who haven't been playing as long that are on this level, and there are players like 801 Strider with full time jobs that still are able to play at this level
@@Phoenix-pb4sm I'd argue that Punk isn't at Daigo's level in fighting games (despite him maybe being a little better in SFV), and 801 Strider isn't even in the conversation. Tokido, who is (in my opinion) the best of all time, considers Daigo the best of all time. You can't say someone like Punk is at his level because Punk, while extremely good, just doesn't have the accolades to back it up. He has won a bunch of big tournaments in one game, and that's about it. Does he have what it takes to actually win EVO multiple times? To win Topanga League multiple times? To stay on or near the top of his game for literal decades? Daigo has been winning tournaments since before Punk was born, and he has won the two hardest online SFV tournaments this year (Asia East CPT qualifier and Blink Esports), whereas Punk has not adapted to online as well and isn't even qualified for Capcom Cup.
曉p Punk is maybe the best player in normal settings but daigo has the mental mettle, which is something punk still needs to work on, he either looks down opponents or gets ridiculously stubborn or straight up breaks down. I feel the Infexious FT10 was an important wake up call as that Punk was getting complacent and that he needed to keep grinding
I don't like Guile much, I don't like daigo using Guile much either. But playing perfectly by all combine with knowledge and tactics and training is the reason why i like him.
What the above poster said. Also, an option select isn't manual. It's a series of buttons that allows your character to typically perform the optimal move in response to a set series of possibilities. Example, the 4th game in the series had it so that you could hold down back and tap throw, so if your opponent goes for the throw, it techs. If not, a crouching jab or short comes out. What is seen above is inputted manually. It's a mix up, basically, on wakeup, otherwise known as oki, short for okizemi.
This is beyond god like. Having the perfect reaction to every little details.
Training for Ultra Instinct
XD
Daigo is as human as anyone else. He just dedicated a lot of time to practice and decision making
Christ almighty, that is impressive. I like how he admits doing the sweep out of habit / instinct.
