This is a rather beautiful song about love & hate, obsession & stalking, closeness versus distance, psychic pain, grief, and acceptance.
The way it switches from a tense, sad song to a bittersweet eulogy around 2:40 depicts a character opening up about their real feelings about someone or something. That someone else could be earlier versions of the character theirself, or it could be someone else the character loved & hated. The object of passion-hate could be drugs or something else-perhaps it's non-human.
The song breaks down for the last minute into a kind of mental breakdown or perhaps a nearly conscious-ending orgasm: la petite mort.

IMO, the end is just drifting the obsessed guy drifting into mad rage. This is about a sick stalker that goes nuts over the woman that wanted to quit him. Listen to what he does to her.

Honestly, this is exactly how I feel listening to this song and I could never describe that, thank you for putting it into words.
You bring it to the point, it's kinda almost bizzar with a harmony side. They combined this 2 foundation and bring it exactly on spot. A designation of masterpiece is understated!

To think this is just Josh and Alfredo. Well I suspect Goss and probably Catching were spiritually influential to the production. Masterpiece of a song and album. Seeing the 2011 tour where they did the whole album is in my top favorite concert experiences.

I got 'you're solid gold i'll see you in hell' tattooed across the back of my thighs 5 years back. Knew it'd be my favourite song when i was a kid stoned for the first ever time and listened to it on repeat the whole hour bus home. i still love when people ask about the tattoo and i get to play them this.
My absolute favourite on the fact it connected a lot of dots and reminds me of our ancient past ...the one we weren't told about but just knew 🙂💕👊✨
