This was a really fun video to make. After this, I might switch course after finishing this next regiment and showcase a new army. To middle earth? Or the grim darkness of the far future? Or do we travel back in time to the Roman Empire? Time will tell.. Stay tuned - jpx
Looks like you’ve been away for a year now boss. I hope you’re well and that you’re army is doing good, I just discovered your channel and I’m hoping you come back with more Napoleonic for us. You have a talent for it and more importantly you have a lot of success with views and subscriptions in such a short amount of time it’d be a shame not to! Anyway I hope this isn’t the last we see from you bud! :)
@@jpxstudios You are doing unique work and I think it might be key to standing out against all the other modelling channels. You are the only one I've found working on "gore" realism and it might be a great way to grow your viewership. I suspect you do this more for your own pleasure rather than clicks but with the right tags could draw a lot of views (gore, war casualties, injured, dead soldiers etc). Still hoping to chat in private with you, I might have a few tips you could have fun with.
It's kinda my tip of the cap to all that died who really believed in their sacrifice.. while the fusilier on the other end might have not even understood why he was in Russia or Germany to begin with. Thanks for your comment!
Going full tilt gore in a display is tricky. If handled right, it creates pathos and not revulsion. You did an commendable creation of the Horror of War. The resin water effects with the mixing blood adds an eerie cast to the scene. Bill
very cool. wonder how it would have looked like, if you had made the area around the soldiers more like a nice flower field. like a contrast to what war is actually like...
This was such a refreshing, fun, and engaging video to watch. I could go on about it all, but like, hey thanks my dude. No worries on filming your hand. Your enjoyment and narration throughout is so fun.
@@jpxstudios bro this stuck with me so hard that I could not find it and spent a few hours digging today, until I remembered I probably would have left a comment and dug through my comment history to find it. Glad it didn't become unlisted, thanks again :3
I had to laugh at your schoolboy recollections, I too was away in my head thinking about war stuff in class but in my case it was WW1 aeroplanes! This is a really good piece you've made and shows the mess those howitzer shells and low velocity, 3/4 inch (give or take depending on the nationality doing the shooting) soft lead musket balls made of a human body 😦😣 Really well done 👍
Thanks so much for the kind words John! Many years of combat day dreaming has lead to this stage of my life. I enjoy leaving some interpretation up to the viewer to imagine as to who and what shot at these men! Thanks for the support
I would love to talk with you. Excellent job on composing and painting this scene. Oddly enough I have a few of the exact same casualty figures in front of me I'm working on right now (1/72 scale). I have hundreds of infantry and cavalry horses I'm doing for a diorama of Waterloo and I am having the best time doing it. Learning a lot by experimentation, replacing limbs, heads and hands using greenstuff to get the poses I want. A tool I've found most useful is a woodburning tool with variable temp and tips allowing me to melt holes into figures. I got started by doing a dio of Bavarian line infantry getting hit by canister at close range knocking out a clot of men. Now I'm going full tilt with horses ripped in half and guts pouring out. That was the reality of warfare and like you I think it's critical to show what these men and animals suffered. Kudos to you on your work, you went far beyond what most would attempting such a subject. well done! . Cheers, Dave
Ill be reaching out Dave, as I simply have to see this cannistor shot massacre you have described. I appreciate your comment, we seem to be kindred spirits. Thank you for your support and your devotion to the topic as well!
I just bought some barbed wire yesterday. Woud love to use it on some WW1/WW2 dioramas. I hope you come up with something epic and fun! Thanks for the comment!
FInally!!!! I don't see any fantasy about line battles in this, i don't see any Gentleman sort of fight. This is what a napoleonic battle would look like. Not some Gentleman sort of crap, but instead a gorey, violent and disturbing view.
i can only wish that figure companies like hat, orion, red box, airfix, italeri, zvezda, strelets make sets of figures containing only casualties of infantry, cavalry and artilery men

“Each one of these guys had a favorite flavor of something” is a great quote
The blood flowing into the puddles was what really put it over the top. Great idea and fantastic execution (no pun intended).
Thanks a bunch David! I appreciate you

even in death this brave French soldier keeps his flag high

Well he is a Grenadier ☝😐
Great video, can’t believe you haven’t got thousands of followers. Motivating to say the least!
Enjoyed you talking as through this piece. Much appreciated!
Thank you so much my friend! Your support means a lot to me.
Using the tool to manipulate and place the flock was a cool idea I've not considered before. Going to give that a try.
Thanks, I hope you make some epic stuff!!

i love this series! nice work
wargaming is an amazing source of war studies and this diorama presents one of his realities.
I gonna try to make my own version as casualty markers
Thank you for the nice comment! I hope you made a truly epic casualty marker!
Great looking casualty dio, nice job!
Thanks a bunch Phil!!
I'm so glad have discovered your channel this is so good. I relate with your school distraction.i too was to busy thinking about violence to math
Thanks a bunch! How can one think about math when one is busy thinking about musket volleys?
Great concept, delivery and presentation. 👌
Liked and subscribed. 👍

I got the same wet pallet as you,do you find it dilutes the paints too quick?like keeps it too wet?hahaha
Hm I'd say sometimes my wet palette will certainly turn into the death marsh lol. Im getting better at knowing how damp to keep the foam though
This looks great, good effort my guy :D you've inspired me to do something similar but maybe with barbed wire as dangerous terrain for wargaming :)
