I love how you train the evasion with some sort of beat, like dance choreography. It would make it easier to coordinate the body to actually sidestep the attack. Relaxed, assisted training would train one's mind and body not to panic, to slow down, and calmly sidestep instead of jumping back. Think of it like a fire drill - you want to walk out of the building in an organized fashion, not scurry in a hurry. Same goes for fighting.
I know a lot of FMA folks who still have trouble sidestepping reflexively even after years of training, and this should be the remedy.

Oddly enough, many techniques that would seem useless actually work surprisingly well at least a part of the time. That forearm strike has knocked a ton of knives out of people's hands when pressure tested. It doesn't work 100% of the time, but doesn't risk much to try...and a couple such strikes, properly applied, will make the knife wielder more hesitant to commit.
I'm curious what martial art/s this is or based on.

I'm at 3:11 so far and I thought this was the same training we'd been doing, but there's a lot of stuff in here that I can steal. Hope you don't mind me stealing. 😁
By the way, I also have knife defense sparring vids you might wanna steal from, too. Most of them are without getting cut. 🔪

What’s that clicking sound in the first demo?

      Shock knife zapping.

The shock knife has a trigger on it that turns on the shock. The sound is the electrical charge going off.

@@InstinctDefenseAcademy Oh, thanks. How high ist the charge on those? I imagine its hopefully nothing like a taser.

@@SebastianMeusel Depends on the taser. Many self-defense tasers aren't enough amps to knock down, like the police ones. I've been hit with a shock knife, but not a taser, so take this accordingly. I've got burns from shock knives, from longer contact, but have never been knocked down by one. They up the ante and make it close to the level of adrenaline that one would have facing a live blade. I've actually seen someone that normally was extremely skilled at defending knife attacks pretty much freeze up and couldn't seem to figure out how to counterattack, because they were so afraid of being hit by one. They are an amazing tool for mental training.
