I was working as a country music DJ as Reba began to become popular. She's never really changed her phrasing over the years, so no matter what time period you choose a song from, you'll instantly know it's Reba. Hard to believe it's been 40+ years.
There's a reason why Reba is considered one of the queens of country. Her catalog of hits span decades! No matter which you choose next, you can't go wrong!
Reba is such an amazing storyteller. Amber - could you pretty please do her official video for Is There Life Out There? Fantastic story and song - and even features Huey Lewis as her husband. Powerful message. Also I would like to request the incredible Canadian Terri Clark - and her video for She Didn't Have Time. Very emotional - but another powerful message. Thanks girl! ETA Why Haven't I Heard from You - and her duet with Vince Gill - The Heart Won't Lie is incredible!

Amber, you are correct, country music does have a way of connecting to your emotions that many other genres don't.
I have a Reba song that will smack you deep in the feels: "I'll Be". It came out shortly after my daughter was born and it choked me up because it was every promise I wanted to make to her. And to this day, I can't sing along without something happening to my throat...it's the weirdest thing....
The heart won’t lie with Reba and Vince Gill, it’s such a powerful duet with 2 amazing voices. I’m not even a country fan and love this song.

Reba’s the real deal. I got to see her back in the 80’s and it was one of the best shows I’ve ever seen from a country artist. I also got to meet her after the show and she was so down to earth and nice. I got a hug before I left.

I always loved Reba’s videos. They are like short movies. There’s one with Vince Gill that is awesome. There’s one with her backup singer, Linda Davis, in which they are competing for the same guy that is amazing. It’s called “Does He Love You?” and it has an amazing ending! She even hired Rob Reiner to direct it. Great cinematic creation! 🌺✌️

That song made me cry. I went to see her in concert about 1 year after my Grandpa died. That song started, and my Mom and I were in tears before she started to sing. That was in 1997 and I still can't listen to it.

She's also a wonderful actress with her own TV at one time and her break-out role in movies is one of my favorites, Tremors. You wouldn't regret checking them out.

Another fun thing about Reba is that she was a real-life cow girl, when she was gowing-up, on her father's ranch---her sisters and brother helped her father take care of all the steer (I can't remember how many head, he had)!!!
Also, her father and grandfather were champions of the rodeo, too (steer ropers)!! Reba wanted to be a champion barrel racer, and her father said "Reba, I just don't understand why you want to do something you're no good at"!!! LOL

speaking from personal experience, one of the worst feelings in life is realizing what you had once its gone.
I love Reba!!! She kicks butt. Talk about a twang. Some other songs: The greatest man I never knew, For my broken heart, Is there life out there, Why haven’t I heard from you, She thinks his name was John. Yes some of her songs are sad, for example for my broken heart is the song that was written when her entire band was killed in a plane crash, but all of her songs are full of heart, tell a story, and you get to listen to her beautiful voice. One of my all-time favorite singers.
Oklahoma born and bred REBA is awesome. I got to meet her in 2010 in person in Nashville. Took a picture with her. She is the way on t.v. as in person. Just awesome!

I met Reba once in Nashville Tn when I lived there. She sponsored a Habitat for Humanity home we worked on. Bodyguards would not let us close to her. Down to earth.

Reba's music spans decades, there's a reason she still around doing music. You can't go wrong if you listen to anything by Reba. One of her newer ish songs I really like is "Back to God". It rings so true with today's times. I also like her song "He gets that from me". Also "The Greatest Man I Never Knew" is awesome.
The queen of country music
Reba grew up in McAlester and lived more around where my extended family lived around Atoka. Her great uncle worked on land owned by my great uncle, so cousins in my family know her family...so we kinda have some history with them and her Oklahoma family. Also got to see her in concert in Wichita back in the 90s. Reba has the perfect country voice and can drag out a word for like 9 minutes with syllables you didn't know were there, haha!

It is so nice to see how much you are enjoying the older country music and classic artists. I have suggested a couple for you to listen to before. But I'll suggest them again. Don Williams song "You're My Best Friend". And Charlie Rich song "Behind Closed Doors". Two classic old country voices and songs. And I agree with more of Reba especially "Does He Love You".
