I was in the market for a vintage stereo system for my new house's arcade room when I stumbled upon this video. It's like modern equipment with modern features and a vintage feel. I knew I had to have it! Of course, no one's received their stock yet, so I managed to buy the demo unit from a stereo store in TX. It is amazing! It has 1,000's of built in streaming radio stations for free or you can stream Spotify from your phone over the local network. I only wish it had a subwoofer output.
That sounds like a great solution for a small space like an apartment or somewhere that you don't want cables laying around. People from Iowa are pretty cool. My grandpa moved from Iowa to Wisconsin, where I live, in the 1920s so I'm a bit Iowan at heart.
It really does. I wish I could have one, but it's so expensive. I already have too many sound setups that sound way better that I've spent a fraction of the cost to build, so it would be really stupid of me to buy this. If it was gifted to me it would be one of my favorite audio devices ever. I'm too used to getting decade old amps and speakers that retailed for 2k+ for 40 bucks or less, so I'm would be really financially foolish for me to buy something like this at MSRP.
I'm sitting here listening to this through my "ibm gray" Cambridge computer satellites and sub that I bought I believe over 20 years ago. Still sounds great. I only use two of the four satellites. The other two are in waiting if these to ever fail.
The upside down IO labels are such a great UX choice. It's such an obvious no-brainer, and in a world where it's common to pay engineers to figure out how to make products harder to use (apparently) it really stands out.
