Discovery of India Ep. 9, Part 1 | Greased Cartridge | Indian Mutiny of 1857

In this Two Part video series, we explore the story of the Greased Cartridge which led to the Uprising of 1857 and jolted the British out of their complacency. We trace the first report of the rumour that provoked the soldiers to rise in arms while the British failed to stem the suspicion which had set in the minds of the Indian soldiers. The sequence of the events at the initial stages that sent the alarm bells ringing for the oncoming events were duly ignored by the British, yet the empire was saved because the Uprising was limited to certain areas and Indians from the rest of India helped in quelling it.
