- 1857 में जब अंग्रेज़ों ने दिल्ली पर दोबारा कब्ज़ा किया तो उन्होंने हुमायूं के मकबरे में बहादुर शाह ज़फ़र को गिरफ़्तार किया. उन्होंने उनकी जान तो बक्श दी लेकिन उनके दो बेटों और पोते को गोली से उड़ा दिया. विवेचना में सुनिए पूरी कहानी रेहान फ़ज़ल से.

मैं ऐसा मानता हूँ कि ब्रिटिश साम्राज्य भारत के ही तत्कालीन शक्तियों द्वारा स्थापित सत्ता थी अन्यथा अंग्रेज न तो संख्या में शक्तिशाली थे न ही जनता में लोकप्रिय । मराठा,मुगल,राजपूत,नवाब,सिंधिया , सिख और बाकि और भी शक्तियों ने किसी न किसी रूप में अंग्रेजो को स्वीकार किया था ।

It were Sikhs who helped British to recapture Delhi for them as Sikhs wanted official and final end to mughal rule. Weapons used were those of Maharaja Ranjit Singh era lying with different Sikh groups.

Many people in comment section r rejoicing the defeat of Bahadur Shah Zafar but they forget he was chosen by all including Rani laxmi bai, tatya tope and others as head of mutiny,. His defeat was the defeat whole Indian mutiny.

Mughals were the symbol of India and its political unity.
That's why even Hindu kings and nawabs all considered them the Shehanshah-e-Hind and Marathas and Laxmi bai etc all fought under Mughal flag in 1857.
Although Bahadur shah was only king of Delhi region still Britishers called him emperor of India and saluted like slaves to him.

Bahadur Shah was hugely respected by the royals and common Indians alike.
He was chosen as the leader in 1857 by all and unanimously.
He led the revolutionary by great enthusiasm and with due support of his ministers and sons.
It was Britishers who projected him s a weak ruler coz they wanted to undermine him.
In fact Bahadur Shah did his best with what limited resources was there for him.
Treasury was empty, arms were in scars and loyalty of his men was ever doubtful.
Rajput kings, business/baniya community and Sikhs were siding with the British due to fear and in hope of favour.
Lastly, Baadshah sacrificed his empire and his whole family for the sake of India and thus paid back the debt to his mother land.
But... We Indian bacame debtors to the royal Indian Mughals forever !!

Royal Mughals? They were from Uzbekistan and Turkish by origin. They never spoke Urdu until atleast Muhammad Shah. He surrendered coz he was scared of the British. The narrator had told this when Zafar asked him to tell his promise again to him. There was nothing he did for India, just like Nana Saheb did for himself.

भारत के प्रथम स्वतंत्रता संग्राम में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाने की जफर को भारी कीमत भी चुकानी पड़ी थी। उनके पुत्रों और प्रपौत्रों को ब्रिटिश अधिकारियों ने सरेआम गोलियों से भून डाला। यही नहीं उन्हें बंदी बनाकर रंगून ले जाया गया, जहां उन्होंने सात नवंबर, 1862 में एक बंदी के रूप में दम तोड़ा और उन्हें वहीं दफ्नाया गया। आज भी कोई देशप्रेमी व्यक्ति जब तत्कालीन बर्मा (म्यंमार) की यात्रा करता है तो वह जफर की मजार पर जाकर उन्हें श्रद्धांजलि देना नहीं भूलता।
जब मेजर हडसन मुगल सम्राट को गिरफ्तार करने के लिए हुमायूं के मकबरे में पहुँचा, जहाँ पर बहादुर शाह ज़फर अपने दो बेटों के साथ छुपे हुए थे, तो उसने (मेजर हडसन) की स्वयं उर्दू का थोड़ा ज्ञान रखता था ,कहा -
"दमदमे में दम नहीं है ख़ैर माँगो जान की.. ऐ ज़फर ठंडी हुई अब तेग हिंदुस्तान की.."
इस पर ज़फ़र ने उत्तर दिया-
"ग़ाजियों में बू रहेगी जब तलक ईमान की.. तख़्त ए लंदन तक चलेगी तेग हिंदुस्तान की."

Before 1857 no communal tension was taking place in India. When mutiny broke out in Meerut and jail was broken down and when soldiers got free from jail they started moving towards Delhi. Every section recognised Bahadur Shah Zafar as a leader of people in India. Mughal was symbol of unity between two major religion.
Coz the later Mughals recognized they were nothing without the Marathas and then in 1857 Zafar was declared the nominal head by the Maratha Nana Saheb
Mughals ceased to be a power after Aurangzeb's demise, later they were controlled by Marathas Peshwa. After British came to power , it's Nana saheb & soldiers decided Zafar as Symbolic Emperor. Anyway, Zafar although old age had a balanced personality , poet , had the courage to rebel. He was loved by mass due gentleness. He was a revolutionary like Nana , Tatya Tope .

Mughals were just symbolic emperor since demise of Aurangzeb & after that Mughals got weak yet they were brutal ,but after East India company Pension scheme they were just a Social leader of a faction. Nana Sahab made him a symbolic face of revolt against British , as that would satisfy a portion of mass & they would co-operate. Bahadushah too had the courage & willingness to take risk , which must be appreciated.

It got boost after WW2 when a new world order came in being which also coincided with presence of crude oil in arab world and rising demand of this product in the world.
They did remain conquerors and rulers in parts of world till end of 17th century during might is right and brutality era.
Just look at beginning of 18th century to 1950s. What and where was islamic world ? They were mercenaries and sea pirates colonised by West !
They did in 1857.

@@amnanshafol Mughals and Marathas empires were just symbols of resistance only and were very weak in 1857, Real force was Indian sepoys of east india company, Sepoys were lacking leadership and planning since most of the officers were british at that time, moreover they didn't get support from all rulers and classes of India, on contrary many rulers helped British East india company.
