That shit can clog up the main sewer lines. Reacts with all the other shit in there, starts caking up against the wall and build up to what is called "fatbergs", which have to be broken down by physical force.
So that he doesn't get his hands scratched. You can play with shit in your hands and pathogens can't penetrate your skin, but you get a tiny cut, enjoy infection.
