The story presented before 131 was that Eren wants to break this horrific cycle of back and forth genocide by smashing the world to protect his people. His friends realize this horrific plan but to Eren the ends justify the means because all the other plans leave too much up to chance. What made this all the more badass was that Eren didn't want to do it, but felt it was the only way and steeled his resolve to carry it through. But then we find out that instead of having unshakable resolve, he just did what Ymir told him and he had no idea why. Instead of a plan with sound logic, we have the worst of all plans where Eren does something equally horrific but without actually saving even his own people as shown in the time skip epilogue. And now we get these same r/Iam14andthisisdeep philosophy rejects coming out of the woodwork talking about "Oh wow, slavery, freedom, whos' a slave to the real free slaves' freedom? Such rich characterization!" Throw around these words enough and they mean nothing. Probably the same people who gush over the deep themes in The Last Jedi. Themes are just a backdrop for a logically consistent story, jfc. If Eren had completed the rumbling, it would have tied back to the theme laid out in the very beginning when he kills his kidnappers. It really just comes down to chance. Eren didn’t know if his friends would survive taking him down. Just like he had no way to guarantee that the remaining 20% of the population would view them as heroes. They just happened to survive. The only real precaution he or Ymir took was kidnapping Armin mid fight.

Everything depends on the world cup and other events, I believe that Eren is a transcendent being that his visions are influencing many events but the ending certain lines kind of ruins his behavior as a character or maybe we do not know what Eren is trying to say no matter which option we pick Eren and Zeke dying makes sense. Eren reasoning could be that of a random subject of any descendent of Ymir ,so technically speaking there seems to be no reason for an AOE, i do agree that the ending is terrible. To be on the safe side go with lowest expectations AOT peaked in chapter 119-123,131-133,137 being interesting. The thing about visions and then acting according to those visions. But genuinely speaking Eren had intentionally picked the worst outcome for the sake of everyone. That is the reason why the speech in chapter 123 is so amazing because he puts it as an open statement but from the inside Eren has no choice, if he did pick a choice of innocence then those that have gone against him will start to face problems. I think that the line doesn’t work in the manga’s context since Eren was definitely not a ‘slave to freedom’, he wasn’t willing to do whatever it took to attain freedom for Paradis. In the context of an AOE where he actually is willing to make the sacrifices necessary, I think the line would make sense. It’ll be interesting to see what happens regardless

Eren Kruger told Grisha to do everything in order to save armin and mikasa in 3x21. If Eren killed armin and mikasa that line wouldn’t make sense. Eren also didn’t take away their powers when they fought him. It’s not hard to understand the outcome this show was going to have, it was foreshadowed many times,
It really just comes down to chance. Eren didn’t know if his friends would survive taking him down. Just like he had no way to guarantee that the remaining 20% of the population would view them as heroes.

If AOE happens, it can be an explanation on why the manga ending was like that, basically Eren was not able to sacrifice his friends to achieve his freedom and he thought everything was written by destiny or the founder's power or some shit like that.
I was a fan of this manga until 123.
123-139 is were I started disliking the road SNK was going and there are good things (ch 131) and terrible ones (Annie's return for example).

Everything depends on the world cup and other events, I believe that Eren is a transcendent being that his visions are influencing many events but the ending certain lines kind of ruins his behavior as a character or maybe we do not know what Eren is trying to say no matter which option we pick Eren and Zeke dying makes sense. Eren reasoning could be that of a random subject of any descendent of Ymir ,so technically speaking there seems to be no reason for an AOE, i do agree that the ending is terrible. To be on the safe side go with lowest expectations AOT peaked in chapter 119-123,131-133,137 being interesting.

That is the reason why the speech in chapter 123 is so amazing because he puts it as an open statement but from the inside Eren has no choice, if he did pick a choice of innocence then those that have gone against him will start to face problems.
