Dude, I've never even heard of this. I STILL go back and play the old Game Boy Color version of Dragon Warrior Monsters. It was right up there with Pokemon for me as a kid.
Yeah, I'm glad they decided to localize this game. Sucks that Caravan Heart, Super Light, Joker 2 Pro, Joker 3, Joker 3 Pro, and the 3DS remakes of 1 and 2 are stuck in Japan, however. Hopefully this game does well enough to warrant more DQM games in the West in the future.
I’m very new to the franchise, having only played 11 and Builders, but I love this franchise as if I had grown up with it. Super excited to see how this game goes!
This looks 10x better than the demo, I was on the fence on even buying it. Due to the representation that's displayed in the demo. But the full release game looks more polished!
That's good to know it performs better. Sea of stars had a bad demo that inhibited practically every area, and didn't tell you how to interact with environment, which the main game fixed. Hope they let you record easier as renaming the monster stopped it in the demo. Didn't like the warp to coliseum, repetitive monsters and not able to control that flower you used as a ship. But target had nice sales threshold to get $20 off, so I'm willing to wait (blasted backorder) give a 2nd go. Dragon quest treasures had a worst dub, but the exploration was nice and that price dropped fast.
GBC, I miss it so much! Hope they still have hornbeet, HORNY shall live forever in my memories! (Yes, that's what I named it as a kid, only 5 letter nicknames back then) love seeing you play this!
mixed feelings on playing the main antaganist of dragon quest 4 as the protag in this game XD but i am so excited for a new monster game cant wait to play it
@@HeroVoltsy4 is my favorite of the franchise. Definitely try it out sometime (NES, Japanese PS1, DS, or Mobile). Mobile and DS are the best versions (Mobile has Party Chat re-enabled while DS has physical buttons). Do note that each chapter has you play as a different party before they all meet up in the final chapter. That's the main gimmick of 4, and that adds a bunch of character perspectives.
If you have the various DLCs, it's definitely worth it to try and scout every possible monster that you can, as one of the DLC areas lets you find only monsters that you've obtained before, and this will be useful for when you unlock a feature later in the game that enables you to obtain monsters that you have yet to run into out in the world. There's also a DLC area that exclusively contains only Large and Small monsters respectively. A monster's size (Small or Large) also matters, as Large monsters are significantly stronger than their Small counterparts, but in exchange, a Large monster takes up two full slots in your party, while Small monsters only take one slot.
@@HeroVoltsy If you got the Deluxe Edition, all of the DLC (including the bonus costumes) should have come with it. If not, I'd think it'd still be available on the eShop.
@@HeroVoltsy If you do have it, you still need to activate it on the title screen by selecting the bottom option. Also, one monster that you should absolutely keep an eye out for, is the *very* rare Metal Slime (and it's variants). If you can successfully scout one, it can easily become an amazing "tank" monster for you, since even though they have *EXTREMELY* low HP (a Metal Slime over level 20 only has about 9 HP in total), they compensate for that with a very high Defense & Agility stat, as well as their "Metal Skin" trait which reduces all incoming damage directed at them to 1/3. This often results in the Metal Slime just completely dodging an attack outright, or the attack doing 0-1 damage. Only monsters with the "Metal Beater" trait can bypass "Metal Skin". Killing Metal Slimes is also worthwhile though, as they are worth *A LOT* of EXP, though you need to be quick about it as all forms of Metal Slimes are very quick to run away. You also cannot obtain Metal Slimes by any means other than scouting them (or if you're lucky, them getting back up after you beat them and asking to join you), you cannot obtain them via synthesis. So if you ever see a Metal Slime, it's in your best interests to immediately drop whatever you're doing and go after it.
Another dragon quest, another banger. The last monster tamer dq game ive played was dq joker on the DS. Gonna pick this up next week. Hyped for DQ 12 vut they haven't hown anything after its announcement trailer T.T
I love this series! so glad to see another monster collection game out of this series. Warrior Monster on GBC, and DGM Joker on DS were bangers! not a fan of the size system implemented in DQM Joker 2 though…
You know what the More I keep watching these Premiers and demo the more and more intrigued I am definitely becoming❤ If Dragon Quest 8 Journey of the Cursed King Was cool and Inovated then sign me up for this New Bad Boy right away❤ Awesome!🎉😂
Voltsy, I know you were asking what the S was next to your monsters, and the S and/or L means the size of the monsters. Small, Large, hope that helps. Also so so so excited you decided to do a let's play. I was hoping you would 😊💜
I like monster taming games but the only one that I have time to play is pokemon speaking of which who’s pumped for the indigo disk and what’s your team for it my team is going to (hopefully) be Meowscarada, Blaziken, Primarina, Rampardos, Skarmory and Flygon (I just hope the starters are accessible during the story)
I got Mudders too when I did the questionnaire for the demo. Also, if this is anything like the other two DQM games on DS, as long as you don't anger them, you should be able to reattempt a scout. Lastly, what's your favorite line from DQ8 and why is it Yangus' "Cor blimey!"?
Now talk about the dragon quest Multiverse. First, it’s dragon quest 3,1,2,11, because Dragon Quest 11 is 1000 years in the future. and a descendent of the luminary who was in the second game. Dragon quest 9 then 8 actually connect to the first quest game(original Dragon Quest universe) Dragon Quest 6,5,4(Zenthains trilogy) and one of the dragon quest monsters have characters from the fourth game pretty much his sister and a brother. Pretty much dragon, quest monsters is in the same world as(Zethian trilogy) Because that white dragon we saw is from the dragon quest 6,4,5. And dragon quest 7 is a parallel universe to dragon quest 8, because the hero from Dragon quest 7 appeared in Dragon quest eight. and the three main characters traveled back-and-forth through time creating alternate timelines.
Both GBC dragon quest monsters games take place in the zenthains trilogy, as does this one for obvious reasons. The protags of DQM1 show up in the postgame of DQM2, as it's a direct sequel.
I’ve got to say, maybe I’m a bit spoiled, while I liked the premise for the story set up. I think it could’ve been written stronger. Writing is weird though, it doesn’t cost that much more to get great writing, but it’s harder to find. Can’t throw money at it.
I’ve seen that tower before, and dragon quest four, where are the evil prince monster wants revenge on humans for killing Rose I knew recognize that name before. The funny thing, the prince becomes the heroes enemy.
Doesn’t seem any better or worse to me but maybe it changes longer you play I dunno but the start all felt decent few frame drops here and there but nothing game breaking
after seeing the video i ran straight to my switch... to see it still said tomorrow xD well, guess i'll wait to watch the video to play alongside it ahah

When Squre-Enix saw the ratings for Dragon Quest Builders 2 they were like how about we make Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince instead of making DQB3
Pretty much Dragon Ball series, and the Dragon Quest series was made by the very same person. And Dragon Ball super already established that there are 12 main universes, and thousands of alternate universes . But in the Dragon Ball super the Nakekians mention another realm which is beyond the 12 universes. And Dragonball Hakai a fan made manga, said there were seven realms. The Dragon Ball, super writers, are use that idea to create other realms . pretty much Dragon Ball is in its realm with 12 universes plus thousands of alternate timelines. And the dragon quest Multiverse would be in its own realm as well. Same with blue dragon, and other Dragon Ball, like characters in different realms.
Honestly, these half-human/half-monster plots don't resonate with me as an adult as it would if I were still a wee lad. Because we only have two (very) depressing options: a) Either Mum's living that _The Shape of Water_ life; 😩 b) or Dad is an assailant who goes unpunished for his crimes; 💀
Psaro's a tragic character in general ever since his initial appearance in DQIV. The PS1 remake and the subsequent DS and Mobile ports of the game do help him out a bit, thankfully. But yeah, Psaro usually does get the worse end of the stick in most scenarios, which is why him overcoming most of his obstacles is a testament to his overall fighting prowess. He definitely earned his title "Psaro the Manslayer" fair and square.
They just defeated a powerful monster that he killed. Someone defeats it, and they think he’s a monster just because he defeated a monster, even though there are humans that can do that.

Play 9 on ds if you can
