  • In this video, Logee's horticulturist and third generation owner, Byron Martin, talks about the
Jade Vine (Strongylodon macrobotrys). Native to the Philippines where its local name is Tayabak, Jade Vine is also commonly known as Turquoise Jade Vine or Emerald Vine. We first saw this plant in all its glory, vining on arbors and lath houses in the south, with outrageous turquoise blooms dangling in midair. This vigorous climber produces large chains of turquoise flowers, over a foot in length, from late spring through early summer. Rare and much sought after, Jade Vine is a unique flower that puts on a stunning display, as long as it has room to grow.

We have a wild Jade Vine in our backyard (in the Philippines) climbing on trees. They look awesome (magical in a way) when all of the vines starts to flower.

I have one I grew from seed. It's growing so fast. I reported twice and about to make a permanent large space in my greenhouse for it. Trying to think of how to next do it!

Oh I have one of these Entangled amongst my Bougainvillea. I live in Mexico. I was wondering how to allow it to grow more and wondering if the Bougainvillea was drowning it out a bit

I just acquired one. It looks like a very rampant vine. Anyone successfully bloomed it outdoors in Florida USDA zone 10a? My property is densely vegetated. I have a canopy of huge cold hardy evergreen trees throughout and windbreak shrubs that create a moist warm microclimate. The vine would have to climb up high into the canopy to reach full sun. I know the arborists I hire once a year would curse me if this vine succeeds.
