Installed on my daughters 2016 Rubicon. Wow it looks awesome! Would have been much easier to install had I not ran over my air compressor and had to use all hand tools. Installed 35" Ridge Grappler and the jeep is BadA$$. Now heading to the garage to install on my other daughter's 2017 Wrangler Chief. (with pneumatic tools via a new air compressor!)
Let’s say hypothetically that my installer happened to install the longer shocks on the front and the shorter ones on the rear. Would that be the cause for the extra bounce in my Jeep?
Sorry about that! All the specs are detailed in RC's instruction packet. However we appreciate the feedback and will see what we can do about working it into new videos.
Q You say that the front shocks has the spacer in the middle and so the rear shocks then have the spacer offset. However later in the video there is a contradiction saying the the longer shock which has the spacer in the middle is used in the rear. Which did you find is correct? I believe that the shorter shock with the offset in the spacer is installed in the front so that the shock eye is pushed to the outside of the jeep?!?
Great video. Getting ready to install my kit this weekend. Question: I only take my Jeep onto the beach. Do I really need to remove the control arm brake line bracket? I’m not planning on having the axle go to full droop. Thx
Just bought this wondering if I made a mistake with some of the horror stories I have heard about rough country however this seems to be well reviewed everywhere if it sucks I’ll be pissed because I knew I should’ve just bought TeraFlex
so im getting FRONT: Coil spring spacers. Sway bar links. bump stops. Hardware. (4) N3 Shocks in amazon , but i dont understand is those shocks are the same size or i will need a spacers for set the rear ones?? can you help me to figure it out thnks
All depends on the shocks, really! If the shocks you purchased are rated for 0-2.5 inches of lift for example, you will not need any sort of rear spacers in order to run them. If the shocks are specifically for 2.5" inches of lift and do not say they can be ran at stock height, you would want to look into a rear spacer to go with them. It really comes down to the specific shock that you purchased and the item information listed on Amazon or Rough Country's site specifically. -Zach
Wasey Herbort Of course. But you sitting in the driver’s seat also messes with the pinion angle. So it’s a matter of “is it enough to make a difference?” If you’re concerned, climb underneath with an angle gauge, or an alignment check at a tire shop will give you the answer you need. But, think of it this way, “What does the MOPAR kit do and what do they recommend?” You’ll see, it’s not an appreciable change if the recall on your JL has been done.
Installing *any* lift kit will alter your suspension geometry but it all comes down to how much change is acceptable. Generally, 0-2" inches of lift is not enough to automatically require new upper and lower control arms. Since this Rough Country kit is aimed towards buyers in a budget, they won't include them. Something to consider when purchasing a kit without control arms is that your caster and pinion angle will be off slightly because of your new higher ride height. This may cause your steering to feel a little more vague than before (caster angle) and in some cases minor drive-line vibrations over time and wear (pinion angle). Hope this helps! -Zach
Ok, so my 15 willy's has the spacer lift, and I hear a pop from the rear end every now and then. I have 33's and plenty of clearance. The rubi rails it came with will not allow me to run 35's unless I mod them or install another lift. And even if I mod the rails, I will have to use different wheels with enough back spacing or install wheel spacers for clearance. Miss M I love your vids. ❤❤❤
R_GAR2 Under what conditions do you experience the “pop?” I only ask because I just had to troubleshoot an intermittent “pop” in my vehicle and the “WHEN” was to biggest factor of my solution.
@@rgii6374 I would recommend to check your springs. Sometimes a popping sound can mean that your spring isn't sitting in the isolator correctly. It's hard to say since I haven't seen the Jeep, but I would go over everything in the rear and make sure everything set and no components are touching each other! -Merideth

From the official instructions it sounds like the offset shock goes in the front not the rear. I feel like this video made a mistake
Confirmed 660808 is front. 660809 is rear. Video is WRONG

The official instructions tell you to keep and reattach the brake line brackets.
WARNING video is wrong about shocks. 660808 with offset at top are FRONT. 660809 with centered top are REAR

Luke Edward sitting in the Jeep doesn’t mess with the angle. But this spacer lift without longer arms seems problematic at best.

@@LukeEdward Sometimes, but not all the time on take off. When the rear suspension is loaded under acceleration.
@@LukeEdward Could be rear drag link bolt hole worn causing play in the drag. Idk just my guess
