First time i come across a PC Case review (since finally going to buy my own), and yeah i agree, definitely worth subscribing i think after just seeing this one video.
Such a great build, glad to see you painted the handle to carry the theme. You have made this build look as good as possible. I dont care for how busy the front design of the case is but that is just a personal taste thing. Like you said, Mixed feelings about it.
Thanks for the review and the 'pointers' to watch out for. I noticed them pointers too, biggest one I'm sad about is indeed the PSU is not able to be slid in from the back like most cases do these days and somewhat of a bummer for such a grand case. As to the removal of the HDD Case and not having a mounting for the screw holding the ' Tool & screws ' I will pay attention and see if an 'L' Bracket could be mounted or not. I like this water cool build, looking sleek and love the detail of the RED & BLUE rings, not sure how they are mounted but I would use the color code to show the Temperature streams, Red = Hot , Blue = Cold . I feel you did a fantastic job, both the build and review so thanks again. Respect!.😎
Honestly i like this case a lot, it brings me back to the times when RGB wasn't a thing at all, solid case which looks like big chunk of metal, love it, Asus did a good job while making it. ❤️ P.S. still it's never gonna replace my lovely Obsidian 1000D 😘
I'm a little late to this build, but I absolutely love it! I'm a big fan of the vertically mounted gpu, so if that was possible with the chrome tubing, I'd buy it today lol I wish you had a more detailed build video on how you painted the case and set up the water cooling system. Either way, this is what I'm going to use for the model of my Superman build. Great job!
I just picked one up. I placed an a reservation at Micro Center for in store pick-up/pay. They only had 2, and with the limited stock, and the (massive) size, none were on display or out or the box. I wouldn't exactly way it's JUNK. It's more like 50/50. Some parts feel really high quality and premium, other parts feel cheap and poorly made/installed. It's actually quite odd with the contrasting quality or the case. If it was like closer to like, $200 to $225, it would be fine and actually feel like a good value for the price. For the actual price of nearly $400, it absolutely feel sub par. From a distance and without feeling or closer up inspection, it seems really decent and mean looking, but sort of falls apart under closer scrutiny. Some pieces don't quite match up perfectly, and seams open and gap in certain spots, and it had a lot of plastic. Some of the plastic is also the type that is really fragile/brittle, and gets that white stress lines/fracturing when handled roughly or bent. Other pieces are actually quite nice and more of a robust and dense feeling polymer. Imo, it's like one of those Lamborghini kit cars, which can be deceiving and look badass at first glance or at a distance, but under close inspection you notice that it's just a fiberglass body kit on am older VW bug chassis and motor. Like, it looks badass and high end in this video, but I can promise it's not the same way when you actually get one and inspect it personally. I can't say that I hate it, but I think it just doesn't match up or compare to the rest of my $6,300 build, of the highest specs possible. I'm also unsure if I'm missing pieces or it's supposed to be this way, but there are some gaps and open air spaces that I sort of feel like they need something there, and seems kind of pointless to have filters with the gaps. Maybe it will change and make more sense on a completed build, though. I'm sure it will still be a decent case, and it can often be a theme where ROG stuff is very plastic-y, and seems cheap at first, but turn out to actually be deceivingly nice and durable. Just a bit shocked/let down from what I was lead believe from pictures and description, and has kind of a "which one doesn't belong" feel compared to everything else. I'm not to the point where I'd be willing to return it, but if the store was only a few miles down the road, I'd definitely consider it. I don't have anything to note or any opinions on actual performance or ease of use and building, as I just unboxed and inspected it. So, for anybody considering this case, you may want to rethink it UNLESS... You need a massive case that's at least still "decent", you can get it for $250 to $300, you need it for a very specific themed or straight ROG overly flashy build, or you just want a large/aggressive case and really like the design. It's not a BAD case by any stretch, and feature wise it's actually pretty great. They could easily fix the shortcomings with a second revision, as long as they improve the materials and build consistency, without exceeding a $400 price tag. Really my issues are mostly cosmetic gripes and external materials, and people don't usually get too rough with an expensive PC, or tear it apart daily. So you likely won't actually experience any functional issues or break it. Internally and functionally, it's pretty standard, maybe even a bit above average in terms of features and the internal frame/body. Just be aware of some of the corners that were cut and materials used in making this case. You can get higher quality, all/mostly metal, large cases for the same or less cost. They just will probably not be as flashy or aggressive. A good alternative I would recommend is the MSI "MEG". Large, lots of metal, many features, good quality, and even a bit of flair, and a touch screen built in for functions and monitoring.
For that money i would pick the V3000 plus all day everyday. Way more cooling options and damn, this asus case looks so cheap imo. Keep up the great work bro and stay safe.
Beautiful build brother. The water loop is outstanding. Only change I would make is the power distribution to the GPU. I'm really liking the look of the new Thermal Grizzly Wire View.
Nice case for the kids. 1:49 I have the black V3000+ and I LOVE it :) The Lian Li is MUCH cleaner, NO plastic and can hold ALOT more watercooling gear :D Beautiful build ;)
good review. thanks. M keeping this as top 3 choices for build. Z790 Asus Hero has twin front usb c provisions - useful as I dont build too regularly and usb c will be in demand as time flows xD. Pricey tho, but seems worth it.
Fantastic build as always Stuart, I think the red looks absolutely horrific 😂 I think the stock looks better, and the cyan blue looks amazeballs, but hey that’s all down to personal preference. 😊
I agree I have same exact case but not digging that type red. Should have been a deeper red or glossy red. I love the color scheme as it’s the same as BMW M edition which I also own.
Sometimes simpler is better I always appreciate out their cases with water cooling in mind but I rather stick with air cooled in my Lancool 2 it can actually fit on my desk lol
Is there any way you can post some of the pics on how you installed the screen inside the sliding door? I would love to do this myself and not to sure how you did it.
I like ASUS product design, but seeing so many concerns and haven't think enough designs, pulls me of this case, no matter how much I like it. Hope Asus keep improving. Thank you for the review.
As far as I know some of the concerns have been solved/rectified in the official release, since it's the early version in this video. And I believe this video definitely helped them improve.
Hello sir! Great review Just wanted to ask about the USB4 front panel connector is it the conventional type C connector that plugs into the motherboard side or it is different?
What is the lenght of the riser cable you have installed there? Also, would be possible to screw without the little standoffs you have there or do they come with the case already? Thanks
they included the eps 12v extension cables because the rog strix helios case is notorious for its size that many default psu cables cant reach the top left eps connectors so ppl cant run cables stick to the side instead they need to run the eps cables diagonally (if without extensions) which is eyesore
I wish ASUS would drop the qoutes/mottos of ROG, it should be minimal. I don't want to see "For those who dare", "game on", "start", and vertical text alignments (!). I think ROG says enough about the customer, no need to remind us in case we forgot or something.
5:18 My brother, you installed a part in a minute. What is its name? Why didn’t others install it? Why is it regretted that it is installed from the front? What is the name of this part?
I would love to wield Montana Cans on this beast. A bit of crackle on some of the panels, a limited spectrum of colors with one outlier color (w flake?) for highlight panache (on the frame?).
Oh sorry I completely forgot to add it. Let me put it in the description. But it's the same as this one. It was a fraction too long but I just cut a bit out of the the last on the left side as you don't see it anyway as the sliding door doesn't reveal it. It was only about 2mm too long. www.amazon.com/Temperature-Monitor-1920x480-Computer-Raspberry/dp/B09SVDCSQJ/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?crid=3KNS6J49PI09K&keywords=8.8+inch+1920x480+ips+lcd+screen+for+aida64&qid=1678035844&sprefix=8.8%22+lc%2Caps%2C190&sr=8-3&ufe=app_do%3Aamzn1.fos.006c50ae-5d4c-4777-9bc0-4513d670b6bc
I wanna see a Hyperion vs Helios is it worth spending the extra money for the extra features and will asus be stopping production of the Helios in favour of Hyperion are will it act as it's upper market big brother? I'm asking cause my plan is to build a Helios for build rog strix pc for my gaming pc and plan to use my old build for streaming... but I worry I may either miss out on hyperion's features or worse might not be able to get the Helios case by the time they stop selling them, I am currently getting a new gpu in april which i've been saving for since last year I then have to get a few things like a new collar and lead for my dog and a £40 cooler for my temp 5600X (I plan to get a new rog mb and 7700X next yr) so i'll be getting the helios after that but it's gonna take months to save the money! Helios is expensive especially on my budget I will only be able to save £40 per 2 weeks so it will likely take me from the 20th of April to august (21st or 7th if I borrow £17) to get the money needed to buy the case
Hello there! Thank you for the review, please could you answer 2 of my questions? Can i fit the ekwb 420mm rad in the front of the case? I saw that you could fit it inside the main area, but does it fit in the front? The second one, you recommended using the side panel for a flat reservoir, would an EKWB FLT 360 d5 fit in there? Thank you in advance!
Could you fit three thin 420mm radiators at the same time (top & front & side simultaneously) in this case? I know you can fit four at the same time in a cooler master haf 700 berserker, but could the Asus fit three in this huge case?
P.s. Could yo pleas ask Asus Rog if they will partner up with a custom water cooling company, like EK, & start selling GPUs like the RTX4090 with pre-installed dual active (front & back) water plates? This would make them accessible to people too nervous to install GPU water blocks themselves, as well as saving on e-waste of all the fans & heatsinks that are otherwise wasted & useless.
I think the case and the ROG 40 series styling is gaudy, but damn you actually made it look amazing. I absolutely love what you did with the reservoirs. I've never seen anything like it before.
So I notest that it seems like glas panels aren't covering the buttom part....would that become a huge issue when it comes to dust making into the case?
I would love to change my p600s for this but not sure if it will fit on my desk which is only 60cm deep.. Not sure the thermals would be better than mine though?
Honestly, its just too big to be practical for me. Like Idk, maybe someone likes it, but I like it when case sizes are average, when it gets too big it just hurts to build in it, as you end up breaking your back trying to route cables, and at least for sff its less hard, but if its big its just not as good.

Honestly I'm just not into overcomplicated design. I'd take a "box" case, provided it's properly drawn to be elegant and not just square.
Curious to know what foil paint was used. Couldn’t find it in the description unless I simply can’t find it.
My question is, does this case improve functionality is is the simply an aesthetic flex?
