Is there an example of a language based on synchronization of body movement and tongue movement?

Hi i'm Roja Nur Azizah from class TBI - 20 A and I will answer Oktaviani'question based on what I understand.
Another example based on tongue movement is according to the ye-he-ho theory in which they express something based on what comes out of their mouth naturally. Ancient people used to say "yo", "he", "ho" because of the sounds released from the words. the word is very easy to pronounce based on the shape of their mouth (the shape of their mouth is slightly tilted forward) and how they produce the sound.
The language in the yo-he-ho theory is also usually used when they do something that must be in groups such as when cutting trees, catching fish in rivers, climbing and others.

How come there are so many different languages in the world?

      @Arkan-daffa 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Rona
My name is Muhammad Arkan Auzan from class TBI A20, i want to answer your question
The main reason why there are so many languages has to do with distance and time. Groups of people are always on the move, seeking new opportunities. And languages change over time, too.

    • @oktaviani5190
      @oktaviani5190 3 ปีที่แล้ว

My name is Oktaviani. I want to answer your question. Here you are why there are so many different languages in the world.
      1. Language Develops in More Than One Location
Humans love to move, move from one place to another. It also makes language change over time. The dialects of the migratory groups of humans may develop in different directions, until they finally speak two separate but related languages.
      2. War
Warfare can form a new language, or make an established language extinct. For example, societies that are defeated or conquered in war will usually be forced to speak the language of the victorious war.
      3. Geographical Factors
Yes, geography plays a role here. Mountains, forests, rivers and swamps keep Papua New Guinea's population divided into many small tribes. These small groups have been isolated for so long that they have developed different languages of their own. Different tribes, different languages.
      4. Acoustic Adaptation
As a result, it was found that languages originating from warm areas with dense tree cover tended to use less consonants, and conversely, cold regions with sparse trees tended to use higher vowel sounds. In total, it is estimated that acoustic adaptation may be responsible for about a quarter of the variation in the use of vowels and consonants between languages.
      5. Rain
The researchers found that in Australia, rainfall patterns influenced the number and distribution of Aboriginal languages in the country. In Australia, areas with higher rainfall will be populated by more people, which in turn affects the development of language there.

According to the Bow-Wow theory our ancestors named things based on their sounds especially when they named animals, which I want to ask, what about the animal's name that is different from the sound it makes? and how do we name inanimate objects?

My name is Putri Maulida Rahmah and i'm from class 20 A. I'll try my best to answer your question.
There are many theories that are explained, in my opinion because of different theories that's why there are animals name that don't come from their sound. Language must have developed, so language may change. Then what about inanimate objects? In my opinion the answer is almost similar. There are so many theories about the origin of language, so i think people gave a name for inanimate objects just like the theories explain in this video.

Such a nice question Siti Azizah Putri👍👍, but let me answer your question. I'll try my best.
I think there is any language that even though it's just a language but has an implied meaning. I mean, like the local language, for example "bahasa banjar". There are many banjar language which is only a language but has an implied meaning, for example "baakal kakanak". "Baakal" is *berakal or pintar* in Bahasa Indonesia and "Kakanak" is *anak-anak* in bahasa Indonesia, which when we comined them, it mean that the children are smarter than us.

it means that language does not leave any physical traces of it's development during the age because it came in more naturally than and without any plan of development that can be track directly because you need to hear language not see it other than writing but even then you would not know how to read it without hearing it being said.

Especially if we as people who like to write and create stories will often find out some languages that we think are cool but other people just know about it.

Hai m noor my name is Nabila and i will try to answer your question. Based on some journal that i already read Nobody knows what language that people speak at jannah, nor the language used by Allah, because He never said anything about it, neither did His Prophet (Muhammad SAW). But there are some hadits that said if arabic language is jannah language (in other words arabic is language that Allah tought to adam)and this hadits has been narrated in any kitab such as al-Mujam al-Ausath created by at-Thabrani, al-Mujam al-Kabir created by at-Thabrani, al-Mustadrak created by al-Hakim, Syuab al-Iman created by al-Baihaqi, Ilal al-Hadits created by Ibnu Abi Hatim, and al-Maudhuat created by Ibnu al-Jauzi, but Imam al-Dzahabi asume if this hadits are maudhu (weak / fake) and Syekh Ibnu Taimiyyah also stated there is no desciption if arabic language is jannah language in Al-Qur'an. In my opinion, if this happens, then communication will be very difficult because a country may have more than 1 sign language. People from one country will be confused if they have to communicate with other countries because there is no universal language in sign language, unlike the language we usually use, we have English as a universal language.

Hello I'm Muhammad Harun Nur Rasyid. Here is my answer to your question based on the information that I have already known.
I think it would be very difficult because this means communication would very much rely on eyesight that has more limited to the place where our eyes can see. the effect of this would caused humans to never develop past the chimpanzee level of communication or maybe even worse since one of the advantages of communication through hearing is that hearing can be heard even without looking at the person.

Unlike something that has a visual representation like painting portrait, building, property, or animals skeletons, ancient language doesn't have that. There are no writing because ancient language has existed before human can write and definitely there wasn't any sound recording back then.

      @yourtrulyais 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Hi Hanifah! I am Siti Azizah Puteri from English Education Department Class A, and I'll help you based on what I know.
So, The “bow wow” theory is the most popular but perhaps the most far-fetched theory of them all. Basically, it is the idea that human language and vocabulary originated as a form of imitation. It is said that language came from the imitation of animal sounds.
The overall idea is that one’s language determines how one interprets a sound, and since we have may languages, one cannot prove that human vocabulary comes from them. Also, at that time they think more about how a sound or languages can come from the source so that most people at that time imitated sound untill they know the kind of languages rather than created it.
Your question could be related to this. Thank you!~

As you said, body language is still used today. Body language is no less important than speaking language. Languange body can help people who have disabilities such as deaf people. Body language can also help psychologists find answers to people's problems in terms of their body language. Body language can also be used as research by psychologists. Body language can be used by someone to find out what someone is feeling.

Hai Risya, I wanna try to answer your question.
Sign language was first taught by a doctor named Geronimo Cardano from Padua, Italy in the 16th century.
In fact, no international sign language has yet been successfully implemented. Sign language is unique in its kind in each country. Sign language may differ in countries that speak the same language. For example, the United States and the United Kingdom, although they have the same written language, have completely different sign languages (American Sign Language and British Sign Language). The opposite is also true. There are countries that have different written languages (eg English and Spanish), but use the same sign language.

I think Physical Adaptation Source and Genetic Source are related to each other. Because Language develops according to human capabilities. Humans who started out were apes who developed into smarter humans. Humans adapt to nature and other humans. Then the human begins to reproduce with a gene which is different in each human being. These genes can be intelligence and body shape.

My question's, There is an evolutionary theory that says that brain development is influenced by the food consumed by humans. Adequate nutrition makes the brain develop optimally, so that language skills also become available. the fact is that animals also have speech anatomy like humans, but why did animals not evolve so that they have the ability to speak like humans?

    • @alfianaazizah4348
      @alfianaazizah4348 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Hello Winda Widiyanti, this is the answer in my opinion :)
I will answer your question, we eat nutritious food such as protein, vitamins that will make the brain develop and so that language skills are available, yes I agree with that nutritious food is good for brain development, as well as Animals they also eat food that is almost the same as us but it doesn't have a language available like ours.
In fact, it is certain that animal brains are also developed just like humans. Humans can be smart because they continue to supply knowledge. we can understand language and have good speech skills only in the human race not with animals. same with animals they also can only talk to other animals. and maybe that's the only revolution of every being (Maybe). Different creatures cannot speak the same language to each other. Except for humans who can learn foreign languages in the world, but humans also certainly don't understand animal languages :).
then even if the animals whose intelligence exceeds their kind, for example chimpanzees they can not speak our language but they can speak sign language. Like a asking gesture, and the gesture is done because it is taught to them and taught repeatedly.
And there are also Parrots who can follow human language. But not all languages can be followed, only words that are always repeated repeatedly and finally they memorize and continue to pronounce them. and many more intelligent animals beyond their kind. and their intelligence because they are taught by humans / their high IQ, like the dolphins for example, this animal is one of the smartest animals in the world.

In the ding-dong theory, human named nature object based on their sounds. This is called the onomatopoeic (the formation of a word from a sound associated with what is named). Maybe, they named water as "srrrrr" , wind as "wuusshh" , and stone that falls as "krak krak".

Only similar does not mean the same, because the development of the age of sign language also develops for the better and also sign language is the same as body language because our bodies are the main role to express it.

the reason why many linguist develop their based on the theory of evolution by darwin is because these theorese were develop in the west where the theory of evolution is the go to into explaining anything that had happen in the natural world, especially the ones that happen during the stone age due to how darwin's theory of evolution is the most plausible theory scientifically according to them.

Very different languages can share words (through borrowing) while different speakers of the “same” language may vary widely in their vocabulary due to factors of education or speaking style. Different languages may display the same sentence patterns, while a single language may display a great variety of patterns. :)

I believe in religious theory more than science theory, but i didn't say that science theory is a wrong theory. So, i think that Adam use arabic. Why? Because there is a hadith which says that arabic is the language of the inhabitants of heaven, but this hadith is not shahih. If you can't accept this hadith, then look at prophet Nuh. Prophet Nuh is the closest descendant of the prophet Adam and Prophet Nuh use arabic for talking with people.

In the Bow-Wow theory, humans at that time named object around them especially animals based on the sounds that they (the object) produce.
So what's the difference between the Bow-Wow and the Ding-Dong theory? Considering the Ding-Dong theory also states that humans named objects based on their sounds.

Hi, I'm Siti Azizah Puteri from Class A 2020 and I'll help Azmi to answer his question based on what I know.
The difference between the Bow-Wow and the Ding-Dong theory are the Ding-Dong theory focused on origins of language based on what things sounded like, and the Bow-Wow theory focused on imitation.
      For example :
In the Bow-Wow theory, Bow-Wow is the dog sound and Miaow is the cat's sound. Basically, it is the idea that human language and vocabulary originated as a form of imitation. It is said that language came from the imitation of animal sounds.
In the Ding-Dong theory, bases the origins of language on onomatopoeia. This idea states that language began when humans started naming objects after a relevant sound that was already involved in their everyday life. Examples include words such as “boom,” “crash,” and “oink.”

From what i know, why it called "ding-dong theory" because "ding-dong" it's a sound of bells ringing. Why is it from a bell? In my opinion it's because this theory explain that "humans named everything around them at that time based on sound that they got". So, i think that's why it called "Ding-dong" theory. Maybe the one that made this theory hear the sound of a bells ringing, when thinking about this theory.

I will try to answer it
Before language was discovered, it was thought that humans communicated using sounds produced by their mouths and through body movements only.
Then the human brain evolved and developed so that it could understand more difficult things.
Humans then began to name objects, food, until a situation became a word that was easy to pronounce and was thought to mimic the sound source of the object.
After that, slowly humans can speak by combining 2 different words, and then develop into language.
Meanwhile, the diverse and different languages in each country are caused by the cultural isolation that occurred in the days of our human ancestors.

I want to answer Putri's question based on my understanding.
Why are Indonesian and Malaysian languages almost the same? That's because Indonesian and Malaysian come from a language family (in Indonesian we say "rumpun bahasa" ) , namely Austronesian languages,
The Austronesian language family (or sometimes called the "island language") is a language family that is very widespread in the world. From Taiwan and Hawaii in the far north to New Zealand (Aotearoa) in the far south and from Madagascar in the far west to Easter Island (Rapanui) in the far east.
That is why Indonesian and Malaysian languages are almost similar.

    • @oktaviani5190
      @oktaviani5190 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Hai Putri! Allow me to answer your question :D
Because it comes from the same language family, namely the Austronesian language.
Then, why is the Malay language the foundation of Indonesian? In 1931, the Dutch conducted a language survey which resulted in the fact that Malay is only spoken by 500,000 people spread across the archipelago. Even though they are few, Malay speakers are spread all over Indonesia. For example, Loloan Malay in Bali, Amenan Malay in NTB, Larantuka Malay in NTT, Ambonese Malay in Maluku, Papuan Malay in Papua, Betawi Malay in Java, and various Malay languages on the islands of Sumatra and Kalimantan. In addition, the Malay language is also used in other nations such as Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, and Singapore so as to facilitate bilateral relations between countries in Southeast Asia. Unlike the Javanese language whose speakers are only scattered on the island of Java.

In my opinion, some countries, some whose languages are similar, it is caused by:
      1. These countries are geographically close together so that there will be acculturation of language and culture.
      2. The occurrence of war, for example the Dutch who colonized Indonesia for centuries so that many words in Indonesia were absorbed from the Dutch language.
      3. international trade, such as Arabs who trade in Indonesia, this causes many Arabic words to be absorbed into Indonesian.

Actually there are so many people i have met and they can understand some languages but they don't or can't speak in that language. If you ask why? Actually it's about their self confidence. Most of this problem is caused because of their lack self confidence. For example, i have one friend and he can understand really well when i speak in english, but he always gives me a response with indonesian language. So, i asked him why? Chomsky claims that human has Language Acquisition Device (LAD), so, my question is: does each human have a different LAD?

    • @ayundafebriyanitrayumada7409
      @ayundafebriyanitrayumada7409 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Nursyifa!
I think each human have a different LAD.
The LAD concept is a purported instinctive mental capacity which enables an infant to acquire and produce language. It is a component of the nativist theory of language. This theory asserts that humans are born with the instinct or "innate facility" for acquiring language. The main argument given in favor of the LAD was the argument from the poverty of the stimulus, which argues that unless children have significant innate knowledge of grammar, they would not be able to learn language as quickly as they do, given that they never have access to negative evidence and rarely receive direct instruction in their first language.
A summary explaining LAD by Chomsky states that languages are infinite pertaining to the sequence of word forms (strings) and grammar. These word forms organize grammatically correct sequences of words that can be pooled over a limited lexicon of each independent language. So, LAD is tasked to select from an infinite number of grammars the one which is correct for the language that is presented to an individual, for example, a child.

Is there any trace or example of the daa daa and ding dong theory in today's language? because even if we look at the most primitive language that still existed now (at least that I know of) there are no such things.

Hi Harun! I am Siti Azizah Puteri from English Education Department Class A, and I'll help you based on what I know.
Yes, there is! For example related to Ta-Ta theory, when we meet someone who is deaf, we usually often use body gestures to express something for them. Like, how we greet each other, we can use hand movement or body gesture even when we can't use international body language.
And to the Ding-Dong theory, more often used by any mothers to teach their toddlers about the sounds or language of animals. So they can speak and know the language.
      Thank you!~

There’s also a theory that language evolved when early humans lost the fur that let babies cling to their mothers - the ‘putting the baby down theory’ speculates that parent and infant would have more need to communicate when perpetual physical contact was abandoned.

Hello Fatimatuzzahra. I want to answer you second question "can aliens speak?". Until now, we still don't know if aliens really exist or not. Actually i don't know how our ancestors know about aliens, but if we think again, our ancestors had a strong belief system, where our ancestors would easily believe something. But it's different from our generation, we don't believe easily. So, if you ask if aliens can speak or not, i think there are two answers. First answer is aliens can speak if you want to believe it and second answer is aliens can't speak if you don't want to believe it. I think it's depend on you.
I'm sorry if my explanation is wrong for you, but that's my opinion and my thought and i try my best.

I will try to answer your question
Who created the theory for the first time? In 1861, the historian of language Max Müller published a list of speculative theories of the origin of language. There are Bow-wow, Pooh-pooh, Ding-dong, and Yo-he-ho.
      Can Aliens speak?
Astronomy experts from ITB judge L Malasan said there were several things that needed to be straightened out from extraterrestrial life.
Scientists generally do not believe in aliens or UFOs because there is no scientific evidence of life in outer space so far, which is believed to be organisms, bacteria, single-celled animals, etc.
But in my opinion, can aliens talk I would say "yes" because creatures must have the means of communication to do some work.
I hope this help for you. Thanks

      Hi Rahmawati,
let me share a little opinion🙏
Alien languages, i.e. languages of extraterrestrial beings, are a hypothetical subject since none have been encountered so far. The research in these hypothetical languages is variously called exolinguistics, xenolinguistics or astrolinguistics. The question of what form alien languages might take and the possibility for humans to recognize and translate them has been part of the linguistics and language studies courses, e.g., at the Bowling Green State University (2001).
Noam Chomsky (1983), basing on his theory of the existence of a genetically-predetermined universal grammar of human languages, holds that it would be impossible for a human to naturally learn an alien language because it would most probably violate the universal grammar inborn in humans. Humans would have to study an alien language by the slow way of discovery, the same way as scientists do research in, say, physics.
Linguist Keren Rice posits that basic communication between humans and aliens should be possible, unless "the things that we think are common to languages-situating in time [and] space, talking about participants, etc.-are so radically different that the human language provides no starting point for it."
Jessica Coon, a professor of linguistics at McGill University, was consulted for the linguistic aspect of the 2016 film Arrival. While acknowledging that the graphical language in the film was art without linguistic meaning, she stated that the film was a fairly accurate portrayal of the approach human linguists would use in trying to understand an alien language.
actually, I don't really understand about this theory, but I just tried it. #cmiiw :)

Haiii azizah, let me give you an opinion on your question
There are so many different languages in the world. These languages cannot be equated or be harmonized into one language only because there are many differences in culture and customs in each country.
The background of language creation in each country also varies, depending on the characteristics of the country itself. And also depending on their daily habits.

    • @ayundafebriyanitrayumada7409
      @ayundafebriyanitrayumada7409 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Hi Alfiana. I will try answer it
Before language was discovered, it was thought that humans communicated using sounds produced by their mouths and through body movements only.
At that time, our ancestors migrated to various countries in the world in search of food sources.
Well, this cultural isolation has made the emergence of a different language in each country adapted to the natural conditions, food and other living things around it.
This isolation causes the language in each country or region to be different.
This also happens in Indonesia, lo, which is an archipelago, so that Indonesians are increasingly isolated in the areas where they live.
This is why Indonesia has a language that is very diverse and also different in each region.
Then when 2 groups came from 2 different places, the languages they had then mingled into one.
This language blending then led to the creation of a new language, here, and it is called the super language or super language.
Because of this the distance factor also influences the formation of language.
For example, countries that are close together usually tend to have the same name for an object, such as between Indonesia and Malaysia.

      Answer:
Could language be older than our species?
Ancient DNA reveals us to be over 99% identical in the sequences of our protein coding genes to our sister species the Neanderthals (Homo neanderthalensis). The Neanderthals had large brains and were able to inhabit much of Eurasia from around 350,000 years ago. If the Neanderthals had language, that would place its origin at least as far back as the time of our common ancestor with them, currently thought to be around 550,000 to 750,000 years ago.

Hello, I am Muhammad Nazamuddin Azmi from TBI 20 A
Actually, this is still a matter of debate among researchers. However, from several written records, some people think that Juan Pablo de Bonet was the person who invented sign language. In the year 1620, Bonet wrote a book that contained the first known manual alphabet system. The handshapes in this system represented different speech sounds.
Need to be remember, Pablo was the first "recorded" person to discover sign language. Before that time, maybe there was many sign language that have invented, but it's just not recorded in history because of its development which is only around the society where humans at that time live.
Thank you, I hope this can help you ^^

According to my understanding, humans speak or make language with emotionally, it is because if something happens in human life suddenly, it will spontaneously appear. In other words, the language with which emotions are spoken is an automatic or spontaneous response that cannot be controlled. Like fear, anger, pain and stuff.

Languages can differ in many ways. They may use different sounds, they may make words in different ways, they may put words together to form a sentence in different ways, and that’s just for starters!
When we talk about a ‘language’ we mean the act of speaking, writing or signing.

I'd like to answer your question.
There are 3 factors that might explain your question.
      1. Language Develops in More Than One Location
Humans love to move, move from one place to another. It makes language change over time.
      2. War
Warfare can form a new language, or make an established language become extinct. For example, societies that are defeated or conquered in war will usually be forced to speak the language of the victorious war.
      3. Geographic factor
. Language turns out to be unevenly distributed due to geographical factors of an area, you know Squad. For example, Europe has about 225 indigenous languages, while Papua New Guinea which is smaller than Europe has at least 820 languages!
Yes, geography plays a role here. Mountains, forests, rivers and swamps keep Papua New Guinea's population divided into many small tribes. These small groups have been isolated for so long that they have developed different languages of their own. Different tribes, different languages.

Sorry if I couldn't answer this with Islamic source. But I found one information about why the languages in this world are different based on Christian view.
In the Bible, Genesis 11: 6-9
      6. The Lord said, “If as one people speaking the same language, they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them.
      7. Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other.”
      8. So the Lord scattered them from there over all the earth, and they stopped building the city.
      9. That is why it was called Babel because there the Lord confused the language of the whole world.
This was a punishment from God because of the pride and arrogance of the Babylonians at that time who thought they could match God's power.
      Thank You 🙏😀

The language in this world actually comes from one main language. The main language developed due to various factors so that eventually the language developed and the pronunciation in each world was different. Besides that, from one region to another there are different variations and different situations. As a result, region A or region B have differences in terms of pronunciation, environment or language in mentioning something.
