    Almost every day I come into work and sit down with my morning coffee, crack open the the laptop, and watch a Dave Cam video to start my day. Thanks for all of the amazing vids, one of my favorite youtubers.

    Really puts into perspective how important triple-monitors are, I really hadn't noticed it as clearly on my own setup.
    Makes me happy I didn't fall for the ultrawide meme!

    My rig has three 32” curved screens. Not expensive ones but quite a adequate. Make a Hugh difference for tight racing. It has improved my ability to race side by side to no end. I recommend a 3 screen set up over 1. Even if you have to have budget screens as I did the payback is worth it. Nice video Dave thanx.

    Same experience here. Went from 49 UW to triple 32. I am not faster, but I spun less because I have a better feeling for rotation along the vertical axis.
    One more thing: since setting distance from screen to 55cm (tip from race beyond matter) FOW feels so good, although my real distance from the screen is 64 cm.

      @Stefan Wehinger Dave uses 27in screens so he has them that close anyway we do it because we're on triple 32in screens. Ideally you want your 32in screens in front of the base but our eyes won't handle that

    Hello thank you for this video. We can’t assume that everybody on track uses the same stuff. The guy next to you may use a small single monitor or perhaps he is in VR you can’t tell, but to keep it in mind to avoid incidents.
    Very good insight.
    As you are moving very fast in different (Sim)worlds, perhaps you consider to do a video about the differences that make you go fast in Iracing compared to ACC. Lately I gave Iracing a chance (having manly run ACC to that point, but your ranting on ACC got me thinking).
    I did some Mazda MX5 racing and enjoy it quite a lot I’m on B Lizence and would like to do some GT3 racing, but struggle to get up to pace.
    I know you need to use brake and throttle a bit different, I try to spot the difference while watching you racing, but it would be easier if you would make a video, go fast and tell a bit what you do.

    What i liked most from 16:9 1080p monitor going to 32:9 49" ultrawide is that fighting other cars and having more spatial awareness felt so so so much better. I could atleast see where most of my car was going right next to others in close battles. The amount of races i was able to avoid mistakes or damage or fights gone wrong dramatically improved, the more FOV you can get by triples or Ultrawide the better the racing will become. Atleast IMO.

    Thank you for this video dave!! There are some video ideas that I think would be cool. Like QnA type video once every few months where you can get opinions, or "IS THIS MY FAULT?" videos reviewing peoples races :') that would be really awesome, or just pick out a few questions some people might have every few videos, it could help them to become a better driver, calmer racer. Long time follower, keep what you're doing!

    I’ve been racing in VR for almost 4 years now, coming from single monitor and Track IR. I’m currently using a Reverb G2 and even though I’ve never used triples, I feel like I get to experience the sense of speed from my peripheral vision, but not as good as triples because of the FOV limitation of the G2. I’m always hoping that a new version of the Reverb with a wider FOV will be introduced because other than that, the headset is great.

    • @DanielWinterAt
      @DanielWinterAt 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the counter argument here is that what you see in the G2 is actually kinda what you would see if you would wear a helmet. The Triple setup that dave has here lets you see even more than you would in real life. So in that aspect VR is even more realistic, like it or not :)

    • @Hani_Santa
      @Hani_Santa 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DanielWinterAt this is not totally the truth. Sure a Helmet narrows your vision, but not as much as a G2 and I have the fov mod. Niels Heusinkveld also made a video about this.
      In a helmet I would guess your FOV is more like 170. Also your vertical fov is bigger. Never tried the Pimax, but I guess it's more like a pimax.

    • @Hani_Santa
      @Hani_Santa 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For me VR is without any doubt the preferred simracing tool, it's so much more immersive. At this stage lots of pros and cons comparing it with triples, but in the near future almost everybody will race in VR.

    Thinking about triples, I play chase view in stock car / grand tourers and cockpit in single seater open wheelers. I just don't get a good feeling of where I am on the road in stock cars in cockpit, but I would really like to try triples. I saw a video of triples with 180 degrees FOV at 60 degrees and I thought that was the way it had to be set up, but that way I would fine cramp, now I'm more confused, I saw another video if you turn your head your FOV should be square with the center of the side screen, this second way should be a little more roomy, and I don't believe 180 degrees FOV is important unless your a horse.

  • @losingmyfavoritegame8752

    The Gro-pro looks way better for watching, just my opinion. I use a FOV of 92 then move the camera back until it feels right for me. it now looks and feels amazing every race is like being in the actual driving seat and every race seams like I'm on the edge of my pants

    In general, in TH-cam videos, the triple looks better than it really is because you are seeing the cockpit and driver in 2d like the monitors, but in reality you are with a steering wheel in front of three flat screens, the vr is a before and an after in simracing. I have treple 27, I have 49 uktrawide, I have g2, I have cv1, rift s, quest 2. I had all this and I was changing it for that constant search for that point that is missing to be closer to the simulation and one does not know where it is.

    I think people don't consciously realize that racing with a single screen is like racing with the blinders on. Even wearing a helmet in IRL, you will have a greater field of view. The only thing that is on par with triples is VR. Once I realized that most people (like myself) use single screens, I adjusted how I made overtakes and incident rate in iRacing went way down.

    I remember w/ my first more realistic sim, F1 2000, w/ my mom’s slow PC on a 19” monitor. When I got to Monaco and passed into the tunnel after the hairpin I was terrified it was going to actually cut my head off. This despite driving past to it slowly & could tell it was ~ 15 ft high, the top of my car 3 ft, and it not being reality. It was two weeks b4 I could drive into it at full throttle @ 100 mph w/o feeling like I was going to have a heart attack.

    Hey Dave! Fantastic video really helping a lot in terms of deciding for the switch to triples.
    The only thing I am really struggling with is usability with triples when you don't race. My P1-X pretty much is also my workstation and dozens of hours went into building it to do both. My 34" Alienware is still considered one of the best screens on the market, not just for perfomance but especially in terms of picture quality (colours, contrast, etc.). When I was recently at the Sim-Expo I didn't see a single screen that looked better than mine (although because maybe set-up in a hurry there) and I am so afraid of switching away from that phenomenal screen and then be disappointed.
    How is it with gaming other stuff on a triple setup, how easy can you remove/reinstall the Bezel-Free-Kit etc? Really would love to hear from you as most other youtubers don't seem to be bothered answering long questions :D

    damn your setup looks amazing! Did you invest in some new gadgets? Haven't seen that wheel before, the button boxes look good and recently in your heal toe video I saw new pedals that I did not recognize. Also are these still 27 inch monitors? They look really nice and immersive. (edit:) I am currently on a 34 inch ultrawide, but I think triples will be what I will buy first when I am out of uni and have enough space haha.

    • @noduj

      if you have enough space go for 32", especially if you coming from a 49" ultrawide, 27" are not much of an upgrade because they have the same height and more height = more immersive.
