- Jesus gives the parable of the good Samaritan.
Luke 10:25-37
25 And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?
26 He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?
27 And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.
28 And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.
29 But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbour?
30 And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.
31 And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.
32 And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.
33 But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,
34 And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.
35 And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.
36 Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves?
37 And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.

Yesterday, I met a man, a homeless man sitting on a bench in front of a drug store. He was sleeping position sitting up. I called him and asked him if he needed anything. He told me he had nothing to carry things in. I gave him of my money and gave him food. I could not completely heal him of his earthly wounds of time and lack of attention. We talked for sometime. I wanted to offer him a bed and safe shelter. I could not. I wept because I could not do this. Please Lord watch over this man.

Help shelters they also help them. And they need our help to help them. Not for reward even from god but from compassion.
always from true compassion. Just as the woman gave all she had in one shekel of silver He knows you did what you could. Have faith he knows your works that come from love. Be sure he does provide for everyone. Do not weap only weap from joy.
Lord, I pray that if someone like that is presented to me, whether it's someone being bullied, hurt, or whatever, that I will help them. I pray that my motives will be right to. That they will not be for my own glory, but for the love of that person and for your glory. Amen

@@yagamisharto258 but there is plenty of reason to educate people on how to be good people even though they don't believe. The Jews and the Samaritans were despised enemies at the time of Jesus, and yet the Samaritan is the hero of the story.

This story touches me every time. It’s not about helping someone who is like you but helping someone who you were raised or taught to despise or who is different from you racially , culturally , ethnically etc. , which shows what true love is for a neighbor. Kind of like a godly loving white man helping a black man or vice versa.

I remember when I saw a man standing outside of a bakery. He begged neither for money nor for food. However, he appeared to be hungry. I gave him some money, he straight away went inside. I like the Story of Good Samaritan. Once Theodor Roosvelt said: "Do what you can, with what you have, where you are..."

On March 20th 1982,if someone didn't stop on the road and check my pulse and commence C.P.R, I wouldn't be here today.He is my friend to this day.I have never given up a chance to help or given up my C.P.R. and First aid tickets.I love this story and it should be so for all mankind to help one another.xo R

Compassion.......a beautifull emotion becomming rare these day,s...our son of 10 years is bullied because he,s a kind and compassioned boy strong in believe in God...
How hard it is to explain him that there,s nothing wrong with him (what he thinks) but he is beautifull and God loves him for it..yet it is for him to a difficult road to grow up on...

Anita, I'm 58 yrs young and always had that same problem with people. Sometimes I feel like a fool for being kind to selfish users, but God gave me a compassionate heart from birth. I don't let it get the best of me, but I'm very selective about who I help and how. If there motives are bad, I don't bulge but give show them a scripture to read. The ones that took my kindness for weakness are suffering now. They're reaping just what they showed. I'll be praying for your son to grow stronger in well doing. Our kind is very rare upon the Earth. JESUS had to go through the same thing. Stay Blessed 💘.
God, I have no interest in gaining eternal life. If it meant being with You forever, I will accept it. Lord, I am not following Your commandments and laws in order to get everlasting life but instead, I follow Your commandments because of the kindness and generosity you have given to me. In a young age, I have realized that wanting eternal life by forcing yourself to do everything to gain it is selfishness in my perspective. In my opinion, a person should worship God not by gaining eternal life but because that person is indebted to the Lord. In my eyes, passionately following God's orders because you want to be with him instead because of having eternal life is what I aim. He had helped me through so much, it is only just that I thank him by loving him and having faith in him as a close friend would.

I have read what Jesus said about doing good works, fasting, praying in secret so "that your heavenly father, who is looking in in secret will reward you". What about the countless blessings that he has given us already? Doesn't God deserve anything for that? This is why I feel as you do.

I want the intimate relationship with our Heavenly Father, and when I fall short I feel so bad. Conviction really does correct me. Not all men "by the wayside" have been beaten or robbed. Many are in emotional trouble, or are having trouble with their faith, or are confused in the world. In striving to be "good Samaritans", we should watch for opportunities to help those people as well.

Something to keep in mind is not only did the first two men refrain from helping but they also refrained from telling someone else that a person was in need. Not all the time do I have the resources or strength to help someone in need but I do know certain people who do that I can pass the word on to.

How many Good samaritans are left in this world lord
Weeks back I saw a homeless person and he wasn't begging for money or anything like that and I just grabbed some change and I gave it to him. Just a few bucks and he looked surprised like another human being saw that he was there and you could see that he was touched. I could have kept the money and go get a Slurpee or something like that but it was far better to give that money away and actually help someone and see that they felt empathy from their fellowman. That look of seeing like "oh my God someone actually saw me and cared about my well-being rather looking at me with bitterness"
Not only can you touch someone's heart but you can also make yours stronger too. ❤❤❤

The more times change, the more they stay the same.
I lay in a heap by the side of a busy road, knocked semi unconscious and broken collar bone and very nearly a broken neck if not for a full face helmet, when you hit the ground from 40+ mph the instant stop will do that. from a booby trapped trail, past by dozens of cars. Then one young man stopped and started my bike and helped me aboard to find my way home. We all have a choice.
When i was a little boy i got kicked in the face by a horse and the horse was trying to trample me. A man appeared and scared the horse away and carried me a couple of miles back home. I never knew his name.

I think this was one of Christ's finest lessens in not condoning racism. The Samaritans were a "mixed breed" of Jews who were generally distained by those of Judea. When He made a lowly Samaritan the "star" of His parable, He was really saying something of how "God is no respecter of persons". A great clip!

The good samaritan is Jesus, the fee paid for the innkeeper is Jesus passion, the time when he return to pay the debt for the innkeeper is the Judgement Day.
Are we good Samaritan's today? Or will we turn our backs, or just walk by as if we never saw someone else hurting. Are we being the person God wants us to be? Lord I try.

Carolyn Moore, there aren't many good Samaritans nowadays. I live in a very small community and most claim to be Christians. According to the scriptures they're not, and I'm not being judgmental. I would say that the message that Christ conveyed using this parable is reflected in the laws of war, because when he referred to one's "neighbour", this extends to one's enemy as well as one's friend - after all, the Jews and Samaritans were enemies
They were not real enemies. The jewish treated the Samaritans (Israel northern tribes) as unclean people for their practices of intermarriage with foreigners and assumed that the Samaritans were no longer the pure blood of Jacob.
More like spiritual or genetical enemies. Lol.
Everyone, even non-believers, should see the basic good in this and try to be the Samaritan.

On Thanksgiving Eve, I was able to do this for a man. I had an extra cot with padding on it. And I had 1 sheet to lay on and 1 sheet to cover him. He woke the next morning, said thank you, and departed. "It's everybody's first time at TODAY."

This is my favorite parable that I try to live by
wearn't we all like the man who was robbed and beaten left for dead in sin and distruction but like the good samaritan Jesus showed mercy,grace and compassion for us when nobody did and so we are called to live in grace, mercy and compassion fo others, as we were once shown through Him.
This was my favourite bible story growing up.
Beautiful story, the Savior is like the Good Samaritan, He atoned for us when no one else could and he asks so little of us in return.
I was just reading about this in my daily morning Bible reading, and then lo and behold, and sign onto TH-cam for the first time today, and this video was on my front page!!!! Amazing!!!

Because I'm trying to be active in not only going to church, but also trying more fully in faith to love God and mankind, my life has been so much more blessed than years ago when I wasn't choosing to follow Jesus Christ nearly as much as I do now!

When I was little I saw a man below a tree and offered him some money because I felt bad that he was poor, this is not for credit but I had mercy and forgiveness for this man.

I maybe sinner and I may be a faulty individual but I try my damndest to help people. Money for food, a talk for emtoinal support, a helping hand to carry something I do it.
I do it because it's right by him. I really don't care for pride or ego I just do it because what if it were me. It just breaks my heart so I try to do something to help. I know I can't help everyone but I do what little I can for it's the right thing to do.
