Cut Carr as post June 1, let Rattler start every game and see if he can show improvement. If he does, he can possibly be your franchise QB. If not, you get a high draft pick and you get that QB that way. All while saving money on the cap. Seems like the best strategy to me.

Usually when QBs take a 'hit' for their teams, its restructuring, not a cut. Carr started off saying he would absolutely restructure, so this is such a ridiculous criticism of him. Not only that, the Saints are 15-14 with him in two years, and 0-6 without. With all the high profile injuries the team had this year, it seems like hating Carr is more of a scapegoat for frustration rather than an actual problem.

Start rebuilding with drafted support players now to get ready for the next QB who shouldn't be drafted until other offensive players are in place. 3. Arch Manning will be in Texas until he has a degree (2years). So after 1 more year w/Carr, then tank. For top 5 pick.

I totally agree. Id move back in the draft to acquire more picks as well. Try and get a second 2 and a third 3 for our 9th plus the other teams first, if its a late 1st round pick from them then get added picks in 2026. Then we´d have 8 picks in the top 4 rounds in the upcoming draft. Build in the trenches and get an X receiver to complement Olave and Shareed. Roll with Rattler. Accept next season will be tough but necessary. If Rattler doesnt develop draft your franchise QB in 2026. Move on from old expensive players including Carr, Jordon, and the honey Badger. Keep Davis as hes still getting it done. Id draft 2 defensive tackles, a guard, a DE, a big possession receiver, a RB, a Safety and a TE with those picks. the top pick is a toss up, id go best available between DE and WR. I read that Fuaga could move across to guard and excel. In that case a tackle might make sense to begin to really establish a solid offensive line.
Let’s be real. The saints can do what the Vikings did this season IF we hire the right head coach AND stay healthy next season. My point is I could see the saints in the playoffs next season with Carr as QB1 if we hire a good head coach, have a good draft (2-3 starters) and we stay healthy. The saints are not rebuilding in 2025 we still have Cam, Demario, Tryann, Taysome, AK and most likely Derek Carr too. We are going to compete next season (hopefully make the playoffs especially if we draft 2-3 starting caliber rookies) but in 2026 we will definitely start the rebuild and that’s the reality of the saints for the next 2 seasons in my opinion ⚜️

I agree. I'd rather 3-6 wins with Spencer, than 8-9 wins with Carr. I think 1-3 quarterbacks will be a franchise to an NFL starter, in the 26 draft. With that in mind, I say if you believe a player in the draft can protect your quarterback draft him in 25. A player can help the running game, or passing game draft him. Besides that best player available including punter. They have a chance to draft a Joe Burrow. I don't want him to have the protection Joe had, and end up on IR
We've been in a pickle for a long time. I had a real hard time coming to grips on Sean Payton quitting on us. I completely agree that we need to just purge the high cost players and manage through the pain next year but then they absolutely have to do better going forward. I agree w/ your assessment.
I'd keep Carr for the same reason you'd cut him, plunge hard:
1. To fix/reset cap for following season. (But may not be feasible).
2. Start rebuilding with drafted support players now to get ready for the next QB who shouldn't be drafted until other offensive players are in place.
3. Arch Manning will be in Texas until he has a degree (2years). So after 1 more year w/Carr, then tank. For top 5 pick.
Get rid of Carrbage already. Let him go and eat the cap. He will just go suck somewhere else anyway. Serviceable starting QB but not the long term answer to any team. Get rid of him and start your rebuild this offseason by letting all the aging vets go
I totally agree. Id move back in the draft to acquire more picks as well. Try and get a second 2 and a third 3 for our 9th plus the other teams first, if its a late 1st round pick from them then get added picks in 2026. Then we´d have 8 picks in the top 4 rounds in the upcoming draft. Build in the trenches and get an X receiver to complement Olave and Shareed. Roll with Rattler. Accept next season will be tough but necessary. If Rattler doesnt develop draft your franchise QB in 2026. Move on from old expensive players including Carr, Jordon, and the honey Badger. Keep Davis as hes still getting it done. Id draft 2 defensive tackles, a guard, a DE, a big possession receiver, a RB, a Safety and a TE with those picks. the top pick is a toss up, id go best available between DE and WR. I read that Fuaga could move across to guard and excel. In that case a tackle might make sense to begin to really establish a solid offensive line.

Let’s be real. The saints can do what the Vikings did this season IF we hire the right head coach AND stay healthy next season. My point is I could see the saints in the playoffs next season with Carr as QB1 if we hire a good head coach, have a good draft (2-3 starters) and we stay healthy. The saints are not rebuilding in 2025 we still have Cam, Demario, Tryann, Taysome, AK and most likely Derek Carr too. We are going to compete next season (hopefully make the playoffs especially if we draft 2-3 starting caliber rookies) but in 2026 we will definitely start the rebuild and that’s the reality of the saints for the next 2 seasons in my opinion ⚜️

Take the cap hit and cut him in June if he doesn’t want to help the club and accept a reduction in salary. Now is as good a time as any to embrace the rebuilding of the franchise.

We were 66mil over. After the Ram deal we’re 50 over. What you’re proposing is not possible. To make him a June 1st cut you have to carry the full hit to June 1st. It’s not feasible to cut all of the high priced vets like you say. The cap won’t allow it.

I am fine with keeping Carr one more year, run him out and we can see with Rattler. At the very least after two years we will know if Rattler has the potential to be the future. We need to fix our contracts and embrace the suck for a year or two, fully clear our cap backlog and get back into the position where we can actually make real moves on the market
7-10 Carr season doesn't help us. Spence either is that guy OR he sucks and we get another top 10 pick. Either way, Spencer starting is the best option.
