Rusty, thank you for showing your Courtyard Villa. Great information for someone asking about the Lifestyle Visit. I don’t believe I’ve seen anyone else on youtube showing that. When we did our Lifestyle visit, we didn’t know if we needed to bring sheets, towels, soaps, coffee, etc. Your video will be great for others wondering what kind of place they’ll be staying in when they go for the Lifestyle visit. I highly suggest people go for it. They won’t regret it.
Ok now I’m starting to get addicted to your videos. Your addressing all the questions running through my head and packaging information in a great product. Great stuff. Cheers! Tom W
Thanks for sharing! We did our Lifestyle Preview last year over Thanksgiving. Stayed in a Bungalow on the same street just a little further up. LOVED it! Same interior as yours with different decor & the master was a little different w/ his & her walk-in closets. Returned this year using Air BnB for a rental. Definitely planning to Retire there!! We fellow PA residents are enjoying your videos. 😊 TY!!
Thanks again Rusty for sharing! You answered a few questions I had before we come down for our visit. If I think of anything else we need to know I will ask! Thanks again can’t wait!!!
We came down twice for Lifestyle visits. Both times we were assigned to Creekside Landing in Sumter Sq. They've recently been put on the market for sale. Our first time we also stayed at the Lakeside Inn, because we arrived early. Your place looked nice!
@@RustyNelson that's why you have to come down a lot! LOL. You'll have a good time if you come down for a month. We liked the trolley tours, because you get a really good overview, and it's a fun little activity. For us, the hardest part was everything closing early, but a few places stay open later. We spend A LOT of time going to open houses.
We also stayed in Creekside Landing for our lifestyle visit. But that was in 2011 I believe. We love the Villages, but because of life circumstances we haven't been able to move there. However we come as often as possible. BTW, no relation to Kit.
I agree the master closet light switch is in a weird place. But because of the pocket door, that particular wall cannot accommodate any wiring except in a spot that the door doesn't need for opening fully.
Funny...I did not watch this year...just left a bad taste in my mouth with all the political stuff. And this year, looks like they are not entertaining anybody.
Very impressed. And we hadn’t realized our Yukon wouldn’t fit lengthwise in our Mid-century home garage until after we bought n drove home. 😂 Still was mine favorite SUV for just north of Chicago. Did you sell you 4 x4 right quick🎉before you moved
Light switch is there because of the pocket door, but I totally get what you meant. 😀. I have friends that live there in Virginia Trace at Sumter Landing and I’ve visited them many times. Glad you enjoyed your trip.
Yes I thought of that but they still could have put it to the eft about 2-3 feet. THere was nothing there that I could see. But not a big deal. I was laughing as I was searching for the switch when I first got there.
My one complaint is the tiny back yard. If you are living in Florida, its all about the outdoor lifestyle. I would want a little bigger back yard so I can add a small plunge pool or lap pool and some grassy area for the dogs.
We stayed in the same model back in June. But ours was on the lake. The view was awesome, but the afternoon Sun was a killer. When we buy, we will make sure the lanai faces east or north.
I liked the tour and the things you pointed out. I have been keeping up with Skip Smith and now seeing your experience. It helps a lot. Keep the videos coming. I am learning a lot. No matter where you decide to go, I wish you the best. BTW, I learned about you from ResslerMania.
Hi Rusty, I am originally from Reading, Pa..As I was watching your video...I heard your Philly "accent" not knowing where you are from ( I later watched a video where you said Kennett Sqaure...Anyhow, you can take the boy out of Philly but you can't take the Philly out of the boy! Enjoying your videos...I am spending a week in September for my 1st Lifestyle visit.
Interesting! It's been a long time since I lived in Philly. Took me a long time to get rid of "wooder" rather than water...LOL Subscribe Button: bit.ly/3aToJ3H
Great look at the living accommodations we can expect for a lifestyle visit! Did you meet any of the next-door neighbors during your week visit? Just wondering if you were in an actual existing neighborhood. And the home looks very nice...what price range is that bungalow in if someone wants to buy it brand new from the developer? Thanks for sharing your journey!
actually played golf with one. It seems most of the people are out and about as they are all there to do the same thing...research. But everybody if friendly that's for sure.
A courtyard villa is what I’d pick! I’ve seen some for sale on their website that are beautiful and have very nice landscaping and lanais. (That’s what they call them. We say patios also where I live.)
Hi Rusty, really liking your Villages videos, thanks for doing them. I was kind of expecting to see something about you going around and looking at the different villages and maybe some of the different types of homes. If that is coming but you have not had time yet to do the editing forgive my impatience. Are you really thinking of moving down there or just scratching a curiosity itch? Looking forward to your next video.
Can you paint, hang wallpaper or change out the shower curtain? Or do you have to use theirs? Also are you permitted to plant bushes or trees in your yard?
Actually, you own the house and the land that it sits on. So you can do whatever... painting and changing out the curtains. Now on the outside of the house you can plant and do landscaping but you "may" have to get it approved. I would say get it approved to be safe. thanks for the question. Thanks Rusty, I appreciate the lifestyle tour. I will be doing mine in the future. How much does it cost for the week ? Also I have a full size Tundra Crewmax,Would mine fit into the garage?
Depends on the time of year. You need to go onto their website and talk with one of the folks. Trust me they are easy to get along with. NO pressure and will be a big help. You can also watch this video i did of the actual calls. th-cam.com/video/AWA9IdEp5YI/w-d-xo.html
I would if it were close. right now you have to use a car to get south but that will change during the first part of 2021 when the bridges are opened. But it seems to be the way around.
As a 7 year resident of TV, we do 95 percent of our driving in our golf carts. You only need a car if you venture outside TV. Most everything you need is golf cart accessible.
Hi Rusty, I'm coming for a Lifestyle Visit next week, March 14-18. Thanks to you for posting so many informative videos, I feel more comfortable knowing many details and tips to make my stay better. Is there a way to contact you when I get there?
I will not be down there during that time unfortunately. What I can say is get the pay gps app and drive all over the place on the cart. Also if you are single get in touch with singles group maybe on FB and see if there is anything you can get to attend. Get your agent to help you out and dont be afraid to ask people questions. hey Bob. We saw about 7 or so but with that said he would have spent all the time I needed. He was really great about that. was a pleasure to deal with.
When we went for the lifestyle visit we rode around on our own. We just stopped to see some of the open houses on our ride around. We were not ready to make any decision about moving there. We mainly just went on a little vacation. Our lifestyle rep was understanding and let us do our own thing. No pressures at all.
great video, just one comment, why wouldn't you put the light switch for the closet outside, saves having to walk into a dark closet to find the switch, it's where i put the switch when i built my house
The point was is that it was on the side of the bathroom...not on the side of the Closet. Normally you would put the switch closer to the closet...not closer to the bathroom. Ie it makes it look like it belongs to the bathroom and not the closet.
That could be. Still thinking about it though. Might be there are some electrical wires running behind the wall right there or a beam. BUT...then again could be just a mistake...LOL Subscribe Button: bit.ly/3orJrgp
Great video Rusty. Did have a question/would like your opinion on please. We would be buying that same type of property as need the fenced yard for dogs. We have seen both split garage doors and full garage (1 door), we also have a truck. Wanted to see what you thought of the two doors compared to 1 garage door? Thanks, Tricia
I’ve watched many of the videos and a recurring comment is that they just don’t have enough storage room. I definitely would choose two car garage for mire space. Yard tools and such can take up a lot of space.
I did not watch them this year because I could not deal with the political BS. So I decided not to give them my money. I've watched for 50+ years and even lived on the same street as Chuck Bednarik. Maybe next year. With that said...looks like I picked the right year to not watch...LOL

No grill. To tell you the truth I wanted to go out every night so I could experience the area. I figure I could grill at home and it would be the same.
So I noticed there are no windows facing the front? Also the front door faces the side? The back patio looks like a high walled penitentiary. Lol 😂 So strange. The only thing I really like is the good sized garage. Are they all designed like this?
It all depends on money. If you got the money you get the view. LOL You can fork over 1.8m and get a farm almost. Some places have a great view on the golf course or a lake. Just about anything you could think of but the ocean. I'm looking at a place on a small lake right now but I play a premium for it.
@@RustyNelson Thanks for the response. Good to know. I just happened on your channel. Wasn’t sure if they were all like that model. Ill have to look into The Villages. Sounds interesting. I’ll keep that in mind. Thanks again.
I've looked around at some other places and will keep looking but if you are looking for something with variety then it seems to be the place. Yes there are some downs but there are plenty of other places that maybe have just one golf course or one set of pickleball courts if any. Personally I'm somebody that likes the rules to keep the crazy folks incheck and does not like playing the saem golf course each week. so it works for me I think...just not the same for all. subscribe button: bit.ly/3orJrgp
@@RustyNelson across from Nancy Lopez course. We liked the trees and the feel of the north and the fact it looked good after all this time. I found some secrets about that area, I will email you.
Rusty, Good job producing and editing all the work you have put in so far. I think it is difficult for anyone.. at any age.. to understand that things change with time. It seems to me that you need a sailboat somewhere in the Caribbean! A mini chick..brown as a nut..no shoes....and enjoy life!! Just a Guess....
That house would be perfect for me! Makes me want to hop in my car and drive from Massachusetts and move right in! Do you have any idea approximately how much that style of house goes for?
Rusty you are a natural tuber 😀 When we went down in August very little was opened, so after looking at many courtyard villas in the new areas which is where we will eventually buy along with driving through pretty much every village we explored outside TV. We explored the Crystal River area, Ocala, Mount Dora, and many places in between. Some may think otherwise but we found this rural area of Florida quite lovely and definitely want to go back when the manatees return and experience TV in another season.
Preface these comments by saying my husband & I started going to the Villages in 2007/2008. They were still building Lake Sumter Landing. We had our lifestyle visit & decided we wanted to be there. We continued to visit semi regularly. Once Brownwood was finished we thought no farther. Too big, too much traffic, too expensive, now apartments are going in, got rid of Katie Belle's. Not for us anymore. One thing everyone should do before you decide to make a permanent move is look at the WEBSITE for the Villages Daily Sun. Not the news stories but the comments. You will learn a lot about your neighbors. Florida's Friendliest Hometown may not seem so friendly after you read some comments. You will find all kinds. Don't think you are coming down to a place where old people live together in peace and harmony. Many have their grown adult children and grandchildren (all under 55) living with them. The main problem with these "children" is drunk driving and brawls. Also many people under 50 are living in the Villages. ANYONE can come and go and use all the stores and restaurants in the Villages. You are not in a private community. So if you think you will be around a certain socio-economic group, you are wrong.
Like I said in a few places. Not for everybody but neither is Alaska. Yes it has grown for sure. I personally did not see any "brawls" but did see a couple of elderly people that maybe should not have been driving the golf cars. As far as the crime log. yes you will see some problems BUT if you look in some large cities of 130k+ you will see a great deal more. If you like you can go to Skips channel and he actually reads the stuff in his videos. I realize I was there for only a week but I did not see any of the riff-raff that you seem to feel is running all over the place. I'm sure there are problems but I did not get the feeling that it was "all over the place" but actually much less than any other 130k plus city.
Yes, Skip Smith is not happy with the changes he sees either. He, Skip, is right when he says, " not what you expect living in a retirement area". He has been there for years to know it.
Isn’t every place like that one way or other? There are Negatives anywhere you go. I’ll bet you have to deal with some of the same situations where you are now. The ideal perfect place will not be on this earth!
I think people don’t realize how huge of an area TV cover. Any place within a 40 mile area will have problems, that’s for sure. I listen to Skip giving the news and it sounds like that happens all over the villages. I think the older areas are less expensive and can attract some really shady people as it will anywhere else on earth. Something to consider.
no and I did not ask. I do know that you pay a little premium to be next to all the main stuff. Best to ask one of they agents...real nice to deal with.
Thanks for the reply. There seems to be a few versions of the Charlotte. Actually many versions. Some with the garage entrance on the side. Others with two his hers closets for the master.
And you can do what ever you desire. You just have to keep it presentable. For myself personally, I mow my own lawn and do my own lawn care. Most people do not.

Nope others have asked but they are not for sale as of this time. But they will be soon I'm sure. Probably once the bridges get built during the first part of the year. But I'm just guessing.
The Villages, Bonds, Taxes, Maintenance Fees and the CDD. What are they and why do we pay them? th-cam.com/video/A120kMpc2ug/w-d-xo.html Watch this. There are no hoa fees.
Good question and many people have asked the same question. Let me say for sure....NO... the fact is I had to call them back. They showed me the models and then said have a fun week. The place kind of sells itself if that's what you like.
@@RustyNelson You can find open play on most all pickle ball courts just after dawn in the morning. There are players of all levels but it is open to all. The structured level and club play does not start until 1000 or later on most courts. I played for years at Eisenhower and Big Cyprus at first light in the mornings. I also played with the Intermediate and Advanced groups on their scheduled days. COVID has put me on the bench for now.
Yes I found Eisenhower to be active for sure. THanks for the contribution as it helps all. I'll get more into it when I get down there again. Subscribe Button: bit.ly/3orJrgp
Found this today on the Villages Daily Sun that might be of interest to some of you about the Villages Developer Pt. 1 and Pt. 2: www.thevillagesdailysun.com/video/
Thanks, but was curious why you refused to say what you paid for your visit. You went out of the way to point out repeatedly that others visiting might experience homes set up differently, why could you not say what you paid for your visit with that same caveat. Makes one wonder why? If you were not doing this on behalf of the Villages, you have no real reason to state the cost. Yes?

Personally I'm somebody that likes the rules to keep the crazy folks incheck and does not like playing the saem golf course each week. so it works for me I think...just not the same for all. subscribe button: bit.ly/3orJrgp
We just made an offer on a courtyard villa. 2 days left in our lifestyle stay.
Wow. I guess you like it! Great where did you land?
@@RustyNelson across from Nancy Lopez course. We liked the trees and the feel of the north and the fact it looked good after all this time. I found some secrets about that area, I will email you.
Thanks. Glad you found something you like. Hope I do the same.
How much did it cost for a month..?It sound really nice.

Could you use Google Earth and come up with an example of the shot of the home that you could get if you were at 70,000 feet in your U2 plane, please?
th-cam.com/video/qx84ZwucJiA/w-d-xo.html
there you go. Shot with the drone.
Are those accommodations pet friendly? Possibly they want you to put wet towels straight in washer??
I'm taking a guess but I would think so as many people have pets. But you just have to call.
It is pet friendly, you do get charged
Rusty, Good job producing and editing all the work you have put in so far.
I think it is difficult for anyone.. at any age.. to understand that things change with time.
It seems to me that you need a sailboat somewhere in the Caribbean!
A mini chick..brown as a nut..no shoes....and enjoy life!! Just a Guess....
Thanks for that. OK now you have me laughing. Sounds like a vacation for sure. Have a great day and thanks for stopping by.
THANKS rusty
Kevin you are welcome for sure.
That house would be perfect for me! Makes me want to hop in my car and drive from Massachusetts and move right in! Do you have any idea approximately how much that style of house goes for?
This new home would sell for $300k or less.
No idea. I'm sure they would be happy to let you know.
In that area $300k +/-. Further south a little less.
I think $350ish.
Where that house was yes...but that is because of the area. When you get close to the squares the prices go up in the smaller homes.
Enjoyed the video. Do you recall the price of this unit?
They are not for sale yet. Sorry
It was probably $129/night if you are referring to the Lifestyle stay.
New to your channel.
Are you giving serious consideration to buying a village home after your stay?
I'll know after the next visit.
Sorry if I missed it, but is there WIFI in the house?
Yes there is in the villages rental homes but as always check. Subscribe Button for new videos: bit.ly/3aToJ3H
did they provide a hair dtyer ?
Yes they did.
Some may think otherwise but we found this rural area of Florida quite lovely and definitely want to go back when the manatees return and experience TV in another season.
thanks for the note. If you saw the bloopers you may think different...LOL
Something to consider.
.
Thanks for the video. Did The Villages happen to tell you what their asking price is for the house you stayed in?
no and I did not ask. I do know that you pay a little premium to be next to all the main stuff. Best to ask one of they agents...real nice to deal with.
Curious as to what 'Model Home' that was if you know? Thanks great info.
Not sure to tell you the truth
We had a Anaheim in The Village of Fenney and it was set up like that. I think those layouts are now named Charlotte.
Thanks for the reply. There seems to be a few versions of the Charlotte. Actually many versions. Some with the garage entrance on the side. Others with two his hers closets for the master.
Do you need to mow your own grass and do your own lawn care?
And you can do what ever you desire. You just have to keep it presentable. For myself personally, I mow my own lawn and do my own lawn care. Most people do not.
I think those bars in the shower are grab bars and not towel racks
Some of them were but the one on the wall is definitely towels as that is where they had their towels.
How do you meet the singles group?
Hey Robert. For this group, you need to be a resident of the Villages with a valid ID. Here is the link on FB. facebook.com/groups/2510728148963410/about Subscribe Button: bit.ly/3aToJ3H
What’s the price and name for that model?
Hate to say it but no idea. Sorry.
Are you from Philadelphia?
most of my younger life in Abington, PA just outside of Philly. Now in Kennett Square slightly west of Philly. Subscribe Button: bit.ly/3aToJ3H
hi how much dit it cost for your preview visit
You will ahve to go to the Villages website as it changes with the time of year. You can listen to the first call I made on here to to the Villages and they will give a bunch of information. thanks for stopping in. Subscribe Button: bit.ly/3aToJ3H
Am I the only one that would like to know what that bungalow sells for. ?
Nope others have asked but they are not for sale as of this time. But they will be soon I'm sure. Probably once the bridges get built during the first part of the year. But I'm just guessing.
Villages.com. Look for courtyard villas for price. I think Rusty said it was Atwood Villas/Bungalow.
Yes. My guess 350-400k. Because of the location.
What are the HOA fees like?
The Villages, Bonds, Taxes, Maintenance Fees and the CDD. What are they and why do we pay them?
th-cam.com/video/A120kMpc2ug/w-d-xo.html
Watch this. There are no hoa fees.
We’re u pressured to buy?
Good question and many people have asked the same question. Let me say for sure....NO... the fact is I had to call them back. They showed me the models and then said have a fun week. The place kind of sells itself if that's what you like.
How much is that house?
What do they charge per night for a LS visit?

How much does it cost?
Simply go to their website. Changes with time.
High season/winter is more expensive than summer.
Thanks Laura
Where did you play pickle ball?
THat is coming soon.
Thanks Marvin. Yes you just have to find where your group is. Many of the courts where empty at the early hours.
@@RustyNelson For future visits try Eisenhower, Big Cypress or Bradenton. All have early morning open play with good competition.

Thanks that great. Saw the videos.
How much?
Go to the website it is on there. Changes with time.
price.?
Depends. You need to check the thier website. Changes with the season. Subscribe Button: bit.ly/3aToJ3H
Yes?
Here is your answer in one of my videos. th-cam.com/video/UZQsby26ycM/w-d-xo.html
