Was at IHS , but I went to Ft Tripler for a impatient program and left the program early due to some issues... Almost got stuck... Was over in Barbers point also
Along with IHS Honolulu..Had to live in a tent alot of the time with another person and do drugs so people didn't think I was a fed...Glad I'm gone , tired of walking China Town...Good luck and God bless to people in the streets out there ✊ They gotta figure out how to get more and affordable housing for the folks out there... Mainlanders coming in , lot of Hawaiians stuck or leaving for lower cost of living...

I was with IHS for years. And had to pay them for the help I did get. The food that is served is not for whom ever is hungry and it isnt even a meal most of the time. Its not healthy food either. Ive seen the same ppl at the shelters for 10 plus years. They are not housing fairly. They pic and choose. The state is investing in numerous affordable housing projects but that is for working ppl, not the homeless. All the while, homeless ppl have to pay to stay in a shelter and are expected to save money. For years.
All the ppl that have children, were housed, and taken on a California Disneyland Vacation for 10 days. That budget could have housed a few single ppl with no children.
Now the state officials are sending back the section 8 emergency housing choice vouchers and telling home owners and property MGMT companys not to accept vouchers anymore. Instead, the new program is to be part of the affordable housing boom. Lower your rent below the Mkt value and only working ppl can afford it. No more vouchers or section 8.
Affordable housing is not for the homelessness that is growing out of control.
It is not because of covid or because ppl are flying here to be homeless. It is corruption plain and simple.
It is possibly the largest class action suit against a state that the U.S. has ever had in the history of the constitution. The state should be taking care of its citizens that are experiencing hardships, and they are not. They are enormously violating human, constitutional and civil rights of the ppl on the street.
Even employees of non profits are hitting pay dirt just off of the donations meant for the homeless. The ppl of Hawaii are generous in their giving to the less fortunate but it never gets given to the ppl that it is intended for.
God will sort all of us out and all the rude and prejudice greedy ppl that have a job because of the homeless ought be the next ones homeless. Once they lose their fortunes.
The homeless can live without fortune and fame the ppl like Caldwell who only care about the wealth of the ppl of Hawaii should be nailed to the cross for misleading the public. Put them in jail and take all their money and support. See what happens to them

good luck man and hang in there. I live in Los Angeles and I had a streak of homelessness back in 2017 as I was getting clean and sober. I thought I saw a lot of things in my life until I saw Skid Row in LA.
I hope I never have to go through that again but I'm glad I went through it.

Hawaii was always doomed. Too many people.
The only solution is to stop everything.
Lock down the entire island chain. Burn down the mall and close the airport. Ship travel only. No real estate sold to non residents. Let the locals run the beaches. Tourists should need a permit to access the ocean or parks.
Take it all back until the puka shells return.
    Aloha, Brah.

@@Mandy-cn8sq Actually Hawaii could set up something like American Samoa. They're part of the US postal system and things like that but get to run things their own way to a great degree, called Fa'a Samoa. Can keep the military bases (the military is kind of its own closed world anyway, when I served at Schofield, fellow soldiers were astounded that on my days off I'd get on the bus and go visit my grand-aunt downtown, as areas outside the base were almost a foreign country to them).

My mother was in a state hospital when I was growing up. Are you going back to the dark ages? For a petty crime you get put in one? How wrong is that? Most of them are now considered inhuman on mainland and are gone. Maybe that’s not the root of the problem. Work instead on stop allowing all the rich people taking up land space. And give the Hawaiian people back their land. Yes, I loved it there and the people. Lived there in the 70’s so beautiful. What happened to the aloha spirit these wonderful people used to have? Put them in mental hospitals?

With the cost of Living here the most expensive, this has been expected because Hawaii (city, state, & federal)
Has catered to Tourism instead of taking care of the homeless, the poor, the elderly, the children, etc. The Answer continues to be in front but, ignored..

Homelessness will never end because of realtors, developers, and land owners are too greedy and therefore it is not in their best interests to do so. I lived in Hawai'i back in a time where there was no signs of homelessness. However, I do remember real estate and a gallon of milk being quite expensive. Now this problem as grown exponentially decades later. No matter if its Tiny homes or fabricated houses its always a problem for the above to have the majority of land and stay away from people whom they deem is not worthy. Thank goodness things shall turned right side up by the Heavens. It is written that this world was made by r Creator for many. Unfortunately, the ruling class thinks the land is just for their sakes.

I think the government here should provide a place for the homeless to live with the soldiers. There are rules governing life, gardening, vegetables, and having a career and having food to eat. Because some homeless people are addicted to drugs, dangerous to others. Indigenous people want to relax in parks, on beaches, for safety and cleanliness, but in some places homeless people build their homes. and disturb others Chinatown market as well. Homeless people live too independently. and get food without work I'm not jealous, but I think the longer the homeless, the more homeless. because lazy people work but the food But working people have to pay taxes. have to live a hard life and be careful from the homeless it looks unfair It's like unresolved garbage. The right kindness should happen. everyone should be happy because they have no rules of life They should be in the barracks. Has been trained in life and has a career should help the government. Like all citizens who have to pay taxes If my opinion is wrong, I'm sorry. I just want to see Hawaii as beautiful as it was in the past.

Bottom line....do not allow them to live in the bushes or on the streets. If that is where they find them, they need to go to a shelter. Don't allow people to set up camp. It has nothing to do with affordable housing. These people need mental and drug help and should not be allowed to carry on doing drugs on the streets or bushes sustained by taxpayer dollars. Police need to make them move along and not set up camp anywhere.
