- We react to the story of Saint MeeraBai - a Rajput Princess and Devotee of Lord Krishna - by the TH-cam Channel The Hindu Saga. We love learning about Hindu Saints of India. Female Saints bring in a different quality of being and the Divine Feminine will not only enrich but make this channel more complete.
Much of what we know about Meerabai comes from her poetry. Her poetry expresses the longing and seeking of her soul for union with Sri Krishna. At times, she expresses the pain of separation and at other times the ecstasy of divine union. Her devotional poems were designed to be sung as bhajans, and many are still sung today. It is said in her death she miraculously disappeared by merging into an idol of Krishna.
Born in the early 15th century, Meerabai was a Krishna devotee of the highest order. She was unaffected by the criticism and suffering of the world. She was born a princess but gave up the pleasures of palace for begging on the streets of Vrindavan.
Meera Bai was a Rajput princess and the only child of Ratan Singh who was the younger brother to the ruler of Merta, one of the prosperous kingdoms of Rajasthan.

Mira bai never refused to worship durga , she worshipped both krishna and durga but her husband's family tried to stop her to worship Krishna, that was the real problem. And why would she refuse to worship durga as durga is sister of Krishna 🙏😊

@@nirbhaytaneja7463 No they aren't completely. Durgā is bahir Sakti of Krishna - His outer potency. The Hladini Sakti (internal potency) is Rādhā/Lakshmi only. According to Padma Purāna, Durgā devī is a miniscule fraction of Srimati Rādhā Rani.
Yes, she did refuse to worship Durgā. You could confirm it from many websites on the internet. And unless you provide a proof negating it, it remains a historical fact. And why wouldn't she refuse to worship Durgā? Have you heard of Shri Vaishnavas of Rāmānujācharya? They don't worship anya devatas after performing Sharanāgati to Bhagavān Krishna.
No, Akbar had not met Mirabai in his lifetime. When Meerabai merged with the idol of Lord Dwarkadhish , It was the year 1546 . While Jalaluddin Mohammad Akbar was born in 1542 , just 4 years after Mirabai merged in Krishna's idol.
The popular folklore says that Mirabai had sang and danced before Akbar at Chittorgarh fort . This is not historically possible as Mirabai left Chittor in 1534 , same year when Bahadur Shah had sacked the fort and 8 years before Akbar's birth.
The portyal of Mirabai in 1979 movie Meera is not factually correct. She was never death sentenced by Rajputs at Chittor for meeting Akbar.
All these are myths that Mirabai danced before Akbar, Rani Karnavati sent Humayun a rakhi..

@@anjalipandey2648 yes, I loved it too. I myself learned it in our Hindi classes. In class 10th, we had Pada-s of Surdas, a great Krishna Devotee. And a section of Rāma-Charit-Mānasa too. Absolutely beautiful. They sowed the seeds of Bhakti in me.

Meera bai was from my State Rajasthan 😌🙏🏼
I think many people will face it difficult to digest the last part of story that she merged in Krishna's idol but it is true. Krishna always protected her but never appeared before her. But at last Meera was so desperately willing to see Krishna that she, without eating and drinking, was continuously crying and calling out to Krishna and that was the moment when she attained the highest level of consciousness and finally Krishna appeared before her and took her with him.

The lord Krishna murti or idol which mira bai worship is still exist . It's located in India , state Himachal Pradesh , Town Nurpur. The king of Nurpur once visit mewar of rajesthan . When king was returning to Nurpur then the king of that time of mewar offer a gift and in the gift Nurpur king demand that idol if lord Krishna.
