A short video on how to disassemble the deutsch connectors used to connect the main wiring harness to the wiring harness for the handlebars on late model Harley Davidsons.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I looked everywhere for instructions and everything seemed to be for the female end of the connector. I wish I would have found this video before I bought a pointless tool set today. Thanks for the great instructions!
Tony Clark There are easier ways to do that. Usually folks will use a piece of wire to release the wire ends within the housing. It is easier than the way I showed but I learned that after I made the video. Glad it worked out for you either way.
great video but man the background noise! You're very soft spoken and you know what exactly how to do this but hearing what you have to say is most important. Thanks,
@bassdropin To run the wiring internal within the handlebars you would first need to disassemble to connectors, remove the wiring from the old bars/controls, reinstall the new bars, pull the wiring harness through and then reassemble the connectors. Hope that helps.
I know, Eddie. It was just bad timing on my part when making this video. I didn't have a garage and had the bars apart for a swap after I dumped my bike. The net time I decide to change bars I'll re-do this video.
The next time I'm working on them, I'll make sure I put a video together (with much less background noise lol). As for tags, I just checked and it has quite a few tags. Is there one you might suggest, i'd be happy to update it.
Whats the problem Tarrone? Did you not document wire location before disassembly? Actually you can basically match up the colors to the other end, coming from your frame.
@FXRocket93 Interesting you can shout from the rooftops about it being incorrect but offer no option to it being correct. If it's so wrong, why does it work?
the way you disassemble the connector is dangerous, there is a high risk to damage the seal…. go to www.molex.com, search for the connector p/n.(the connector p/n is on the housing) ….than you can find easily the connector application and that shows you exactly how to do….
Jo Herki I appreciate your concern, but I've done it this way several times and not once did I damage anything. I understand the concept of being careful. Your opinion may vary.
All the information I needed before starting the wire extensions, thanks for taking the time to help everyone out.

Awesome thanks man
Dude, I appreciate your effort, but maybe next time you could shoot the video somewhere other than next to a busy interstate, I cant hear you
Thanks man :)
That was a great help! Any ideas on taking apart the turn signal ones now?
The next time I'm working on them, I'll make sure I put a video together (with much less background noise lol).

I was actually wrong. Those are molex connectors, not Deutsch connectors.
Bien útil
next time shoot the video inside so we can hear you over the traffic thanks
:) What's happenin, Patrick.

@FXRocket93...Nobody likes a troll.
Totally wrong!! thats how you miss inform people. Its a 2 step process. Ask your local dealer the right way of doing it.
