Haha, thank you! I do need to understand the logic of a method before I can really have a serious stab. Still an early doors method learner :)

What a wonderful introduction to Cambridge Surprise Minor. I am 'returning' to Cambridge after about 40 years. I was 'able' to ring it, but just by 'clinging to the blue line', and not really understanding it. I don't fully understand it yet, but you have given plenty of pointers towards making real progress. Recently, I've returned to taking the treble and can normally get through a plain course without messing it up for the inside bells. On Sunday we'll have a practice for this method and I've said I'd try to learn inside. Your tutorial has helped me look beyond the blue line. In Dublin (or Ireland generally) we don't have a large population of proficient ringers, so the challenge of making progress is more acute than in England. Many thanks!

I am no great ringer, also it's one thing to know methods ut totally different to actually ring it.
I have rung rhe atandard 8, Cambridge , Yorkshire and London Royal but only because I learn the blue line.
I really feel I still don't understand the mechanics of what is going on, I am amazed at people who can ring and can tell everybody else where they are.
As far as the standard 8 was concerned I Lear method also all the place bells, I then got little business cards and on one side I wrote the method and place bell, I then drew the blue line out from the place bell to the next place bell.
I shuffled the cards and then would go through the pack , this way if I was ringing spliced and another method was called I would know mu place bell then knew what the new blue line was.
Do I understand, not really .
Some ringers would say well Yorkshire is Cambridge above the treble, well that really didn't help me.
I never rung a peal of 8 spliced but rang 4 spliced at Bradford Peverill with Timothy F Collins, it was Cambridge, Yorkshire Lincolnshire and Rutland.
