An alternative to fixing this on the wall is fixing it to another piece of furniture! I have this tall plastic tablet organizer that's meant for garages and is basically just plastic tubes and stackable shelves. I'm using it in my office for storage, and I have hung some over-the-door coat hangers on each side to hang stuff from. This would look a million times better though!

I once built a dog house out of Aspen Board and never bothered to give it a coat of paint. Five years later I passed the dog house on to another dog lover as I no longer had a dog. I don't know how long it lasted after that point or if they painted it, but Aspen Board is pretty durable. 2:13

Hey Mr.Kate, how do you know how much weight the hooks in the beam can hold? - is it based off the beam itself and its sturdiness ? Im curious because i would be scared that i would continuously add more and more weight to the shelves and then they fall :-/ I love the idea and want to try it badly !!!
It definitely depends on what your hanging it from, I have horrible trouble because of the weak drywall in my apartment. But even if you have a sturdy beam I always suggest using anchors

I was thinking they needed gold too. Either around the edges, a stripe, or a stencil. Or some copper pipe somewhere along the ropes. Guess I just like metallics. The geometric decorations are nice with those painted pots.

I love these shelves! I am just a little confused about how to hook it to the ceiling. I saw that you put the hook screw in a wood beam but what if you don't have a wood beam on the ceiling. What is another way to hang it to the ceiling?
+EjEmSi thank you! Thick and long screw hooks (or eye screws -closed circles) like I used is enough to hold them if you're screwing into wood like I did. If you're screwing into drywall, use a drywall anchor first before screwing in. Drill a hole the size of your anchor, hammer it into the hole and then screw your hook in and you'll be strong and good to go! The anchor package at the hardware store usually tells you how much weight it can hold. 💋❤️
You should do a diy hanging chair! I have an apartment but can't hang my chair from the ceiling because we rent. I want to find a way to hang my chair without damaging the ceiling/wall
