Yeah I can’t wait…. I think it’s going to be a good modification. Seems like a good way to add a bit of power but still keep the truck reliable. Let’s see 👍
@@autobotavengerfireballxl5339 from my understanding it depends what your after hp or low end torque and at what rpm you want it to hit….. takes a bit to spool up a turbo. Also I like the fact that it’s a pre made kit that many have installed and I know will work. I don’t really have the time to start experimenting tuning retesting etc. Anyways if I blow up my engine you will know that’s probably not the route you want to take 😂
@@RangerShop1 the smaller turbo you run the less lag but also less power but honestly with stock internals I wouldn't go over 10 pounds of boost anyway I one nice thing I'll give Superchargers over turbos is less piping and easier to install if you can find a direct bolt on one that is but turbos are cheaper and more efficient that why oem manufacturers are going that route
When towing my trailer (07 fx4 lvl2) I definitely feel the need for more power. I think you made the right choice w the super charger w all things considered. Looking forward to see the updates. Cheers
Yeah I sure hear you… on the flat no problem get on a bit of a hill and it just drops right off. Thanks for the input! Cant wait to get the supercharger in there and start making updates. 👍
Right on same engine as mine… I think it’s a bit better with no hot egr gas adding to the heat of the boost, stay tuned…. Just finished the manual front hubs and locker in the front got to post that video soon, then few more projects then supercharger 😁
You bet… I’ve got all the parts and have started a detailed build video. Fuel pump is installed and Air fuel meter. I’m actually in the process of raptor lining the truck so as soon as that’s done I’m putting the supercharger in. Hang in there it’s coming 👍
Been having the exact same dilemma as you but considering a LS3 swap. The deeper I get into the details the more expensive it gets. I've done one swap before and you always have wayyyy more issues than you could possibly anticipate. I'll be watching and maybe i'll do the same to my '11 4.0 fx4.
Yeah I hear you… I think it really depends on what you want at the end. LS would be awesome but I really don’t need that kind of power and I kind of like it factory looking and sounding. I’m going to try to get a dyno test done before and after so I’ll let you know how much it improves the truck.👍
@@RangerShop1 The biggest reason I don't want to run the SC is I want to be able to run 89 octane fuel. With an LS I could get the power and run 89. I agree though, i really like the factory plus look.
@@Chris-yk5rm makes sense to me 👍 I’ve heard of a few running 89 bug that’s on a low boost engine and no where near the power of an LS. Once it’s in I’ll post some updates on different octane…. I might try it with some octane booster on hand and just monitor my timing pid. If you get her done and make a TH-cam video please post the link I’d love to see it. 👍👌
Very interested in what your going to say, I also own a 02 Ranger and I also have a 5x8 cargo trailer, and I also have the same issue with the Ranger not having that extra power to pass by someone when it’s already at 60 or 65 on the highway especially going up hill it’s loses a lot of power, I have a new alternator, new battery, new spark plugs and cables, and also new coil pack
These superchargers excel in providing torque…. That’s what I wanted for towing my trailer… I don’t think the truck could handle any more power then this supercharger setup…. especially when towing, the transmission, front diff, transfer case etc just couldn’t handle it. I can now set my cruise control with my trailer on and just go, it’s awesome. Don’t expect to be blown away just good solid torque
There are Many custom bell housings to swap. In my state 5.0s are everywhere. Do some more digging but I looked I have an 03 ford ranger xlt 4x4 sport and the hp to the wheels is 207hp. The 5.0 isn’t much more bang for the buck. That’s why I’ve decided I’m gunna either turbo charge the 4.0 or 3.5 twin turbo swap
Yeah I’m totally not against swapping engines. I put a really nice tricked out 5.0 HO in my 49 Mercury truck it worked awesome. I just feel unless you’re swapping transmission, transfer case, diffs brakes front end. The little truck can’t handle much more torque/ power then a simple supercharger install and it can be done in a day with time to enjoy a beer after. 😄👍
@@RangerShop1 discovering I'd need a tuner to deal with the ratios of air added. As well as upgrade fuel delivery if I wanna ask more of the motor. Also a lot of nay sayers on the build for poor gains. I just want a little more from my truck is all. Anyways thanks for the reply and the vid
Hey I was just thinking of you, I ran into a guy that bolted a gen 5 supercharger on his older style 4.0 ohv I’m sure his set up would work for a 3.0. I’ll see if I can post a picture walk around video of his build.
@@RangerShop1 I've actually found a kit for 3l rangers. But the price is more than id be able to fork up. I think read that I would need the MAF sensor from the supercoup, easily enough obtained. Pulley, belt, ect. So I did manage some decent research, but would totally love to see the vid if you get time or energy into it. Thanks much for the reply!
Have you thought about re-gearing? its not ideal for Highway mileage but its like $700-$1200 bucks to have a shop do it even less if you do it yourself. You won't put extra stress on the engine, in fact you would take stress off the engine.
Super good point lots of people neglect those gears and it’s usually a great improvement! I think though I should be ok, I have 4:10 in there right now and my tires are only a bit bigger then 32” so I think I’m in the sweat spot for RPM on the highway but spinning them in the mud. I’ll see what it does with the supercharger and let you know. Next set of tire will probably be a bit bigger 😄
Hello, did you have any problems getting the super charger kit? I emailed the company moddme and they never responded also I wasn't able to find a contact number so I was hesitant on ordering from them.
No problem at all. Everything arrived in about 2 weeks from when I ordered. Nicely packaged. I talked to the owner to get some details on the install. I’d reach out again hope he gets back to you 👍
Can’t wait for the install video! Great build.
Thanks it’s coming…. Just finished bolting it in yesterday. Now working on the intake and electrical. 👍
excited to see the supercharger- its something I had been thinking about too, I have an 02, 3L v6 ranger edge. (2wd)

me too but I've been talking to my buddy and he has me convinced that turbocharging is the way to go

94 3.0 here. Don't know what to do about the m90 addition. Belts, adapter plate thing. Just bolt on an go?

your link brings up the supercharger kit for a 4.0 engine, are you sure that's the right one before i spend 2,500 dollars
Definitely recommend reaching out to the supplier he can help you get the right kit for your truck. Totally recommend this Kit though it’s been solid!
