He was not so polulair in the us. ( he was in UK, new Zeeland and holland ) But this interview it's like he was populair there? Thanks. His music had jazz/ R&B. Latin / reggae and pop influence. And they scored three international hits.

8 March 3018: I like August Darnell as Kid Creole. His style is just cool and suave. My favorite song by him is "I'm a Wonderful Thang, Baby". That is the band's biggest and best hit song. The other songs are just okay.
now we know where prince got his getup and suave from.
Prince always had swag otherwise as a 17 year old he wouldn't have went to NY seeking a record deal.

This group was totally overlooked. They had a white audience, but back then most white rocker types wouldn't listen to anything that reeked of disco. I loved Che Che la femme I never heard another mainstream song by them. They just disappeared
That was Dr Buzzard's. Kid Creole had hits with Stool Pigeon, Annie, I'm not your Daddy, I'm a Wonderful Thing, Baby and a few less-known songs. Absolutely brilliant. I saw them in Hammersmith, London, on the Lifeboat Party tour. How they kept such a big band touring for so long I'll never understand, but I'm very glad they did.
