I was 23 when this song came out, I remember it well. Back then you could watch music videos on a really large video jukebox while waiting for your train in Penn Station, NY. I was an Endicott then and I remain an Endicott to this day, I'm glad I never compromised on that all these years later despite all of my ups and downs!
Wow. Outrageously great. The late, great showman Cab Calloway once said that Kid Creole and the Coconuts' routines are the closest to what he did in his day in the 1930's and 40's.
50-year-old here. I used to hear this record regularly when I worked for Woolworths in London during 2001-2002 and I thought it stood out from the usual stuff that was on their PA system. And now, 20 years later, I watched a collection of French chart hits from 1985 and voilà! I finally get a name for that song and its performer! Merci beaucoup for such a funny, colourful and goofy video!

I had the priviledge of attending only 2 concerts of the Kid way back over 20 years ago wish I had seen more. Been listening to his music since 1982 when I was in high school. Oh yeah Endicott, you really appreciate this song once you get married and your wife starts comparing you to so and so's husband and how perfect he is to so and so. ARRRRUGGHHH!!!!!

One of the great music video productions of the MTV era. The tune and lyrics has stayed in my memory since I saw it one time during a retrospective in the mid 1980's. Few others have had the impact of this classic gem.

I loved this song as a kid, and was always mystified as to why it wasn't more of a classic familiar eighties tune. I heard this back in 1985 when I stayed with my uncle in East Cleveland (when East Cleveland was actually nice) and it stuck in my head. He had MTV and we didn't have cable The video, the song. I love it. It's catchy as hell.
Reminds me of my only one-night stand--my co-worker's younger sister, whom I fell in love with at first site. It was at my co-worker's Halloween Party (1986) and this song was playing when I met her. We danced, talked, drank (not like Endicott) all night and then went to bed and like Endicott, made love hard and long. I gave her my phone number after that and she said she would call. Well, I'm still waiting for that call 30 + years later! Also, a month later, my co-worker took a job on the East Coast (I was living in LA at the time) and I lost touch with him. But this song has special meaning for me.

Yeah, I remember that too. I think it was called New York Hot Tracks. It was filmed from a popular nightclub in New York with people dancing in the background. It showcased R&B and latin freestyle music videos. They showed videos that never would have made it on MTV. That show got me interested in freestyle music and going to latin/ hispanic clubs. Ahhh the memories of the 80's.
I remember watching this video on America's Top 10 with Kasey Kassem. I'm also loved to watch New York Hot Tracks with host Carlos Dejesus. I didn't need MTV due to the fact they focused on Rock Music and too much of R and B. I was a big fan of Kid Creole and the Coconuts album "Wiseguy" from 1982. When this video came out around 85 I had a friend who used to ask me "Hey Brad you seen that Endicott video yet?" Not only had I never seen it but I never heard it until today. Sadly that friend died some years ago when he fell from a window 7 stories up. R.I.P. T.Y. Jordan. BTW ...I am a lot like Endicott.
He Was the "Original" Even before..."Morris Day!" Yet very versatile! I Can't believe he's never mentioned in the line of Prince or Morris Day!! He was way before them!! I Loved this group. And those "Hott ladies!" The One reminds me of Alice on "The Honeymooners!"

Kid Creole always loosely reminded me of Morris Day 😊 I feel like he would have fit with The Time quite well.

I was a big fan of Kid Creole and the Coconuts album "Wiseguy" from 1982. When this video came out around 85 I had a friend who used to ask me "Hey Brad you seen that Endicott video yet?" Not only had I never seen it but I never heard it until today. Sadly that friend died some years ago when he fell from a window 7 stories up. R.I.P. T.Y. Jordan. BTW ...I am a lot like Endicott.

He Was the "Original" Even before..."Morris Day!" Yet very versatile! I Can't believe he's never mentioned in the line of Prince or Morris Day!! He was way before them!! I Loved this group. And those "Hott ladies!" The One reminds me of Alice on "The Honeymooners!"
