    Hawkmount!! What a spot. Thanks so much for posting. My late father used to photograph steam workings here in the 60s. Always has a special place in my heart

    The electrification of the Gosford-Newcastle section is fully underway with Eraring Power Station being built in the background. The post-war boom of 1947-1983 is still alive and kicking! This was an interesting era five years after the end of government steam at Cardiff Workshops sans South Maitland Railway and Richmond Vale Railway and not a candy loco or passenger carriage in sight. Not that I disliked that colour scheme, it is just an interesting observation reminiscent of the 1960s and the very tail end of the 1950s period. No four-wheel wagons but still...
