- In which John returns to the set of The Fault in Our Stars movie, hanging out with Shailene Woodley (Hazel), Ansel Elgort (Gus), Nat Wolff (Isaac), Deb Who Does The Slate Thing, and many other members of the cast and crew.
Also, MY BROTHER GOT ME AERO FIGHTERS, THE ARCADE GAME THAT CREATED THE WORD NERDFIGHTER, FOR ME FOR MY BIRTHDAY.
Thanks to everyone involved with the movie (and Fox!) for letting me run around with a camera everywhere, and for their dedication to the story.
When she said her second favorite book, I thought she would say behind "An Imperial Affliction" then I realized that's a book John made up.

perfect casting
It's like the perfection of the casting of Harry Potter. That very same perfection.
Can't everyone just agree that these actors are perfect for their parts? Everyone imagined them to look a certain way, so they're not going to be exact. But coming from me, I think they're perfect & I hope once the movie comes out more people will understand.
I just read the book and I can truly say that I thought it was the most magnificently horrifying book I have ever read and the only book that ever reduced me to tears.
the first time i finished the book, i slammed the book on the counter of my school library and yelled (kinda) "this was a horribly wonderful book.... i want to cry", I definitely feel where you're coming from
my level of excitement for this movie is unhealthy.
ansel is actually a perfect representation of the augustus i imagined. i don't think i've ever been more excited for a movie before.

How is Gus "not supposed to look like that" . What was Gus supposed to look like? Really, all the book said was that he was tall and had reddish brown hair. Ansel is tall and has reddish brown hair. Don't know how else you expect him to look. Every single person had a different Gus in their mind and I get that, but you have to accept what you got!

While reading the book I imagined Daniel Sherman from Teen Wolf as Augustus because of the blue eyes and that dashing corner smile and he is tall. Everyone imagined someone different but I think Ansel will do a wonderful job playing Augustus and he is pretty close to Augustus's age and adorable. :D

So all those scenes in movies where 2 people are having a conversation at a door are really like 10+ separate takes spliced together?
Well often a scene will take 10+ takes even if it doesn't need multiple camera angles., but they'll shoot the entire scene from one angle, then move the camera and do it all again (in general).
sometimes they do have more than one cameras, but definitely not 10..:)
I said 10 takes, not ten cameras =)
They all seem like one big family. And this pleases me immensely.

I was in Won't Back down, which was previously shot in Pittsburgh, and being on a set really opens your eyes to how much work gos in to a movie.

I went to the theater to see The Desolation of Smaug yesterday, and I saw the movie poster for The Fault in Our Stars! I fangirled so hard which was awkward because I was just with my dad and my younger brother who had no idea what I was so excited about, and made even more awkward by the fact that there was basically no one else in the theater besides the staff.
Best ever casting love it and absolutely can not wait ahhhh!
