@AboveAverageMan97 I don’t know about a remake but there will be a film adaptation of “Armada” by Ernest Cline. He wrote “Ready Player One”. Armada is a very similar story to The Last Starfighter.
HolyThursday it’s a fantastic fantasy sci fi film. I watched this as a kid and even with all the CGI nowadays (yes ok it looks dated) but the sheer cheesiness of it and the extreme fantasy and originality makes it a classic in my eyes. The music is orgasmic too 😂
I agree that this movie is very underrated. IMDB gave it a 6. I love this movie! Ive been revisiting some of my favorite movies from my childhood in the 80s. I started with Wargames. Couldnt find The Beastmaster for download So I looked for Krull. As soon as those opening credits started rolling and this theme music came on I was overwhelmed with a wave of sweet nostalgia. I'd forgotten what really beautiful and grand music was in this. Takes me back when movies were magic and had classical, timeless themes to them that could inspire a young boy to want to be a hero. Not like the pc-indoctrinating garbage that oozes out of Hollywood now.
Puissance. Pure, straight-forward, indefatigable puissance. This score is top notch, my 1st or 2nd favorite ever. I listen to it often. If you ever get stuck in an adventure; if you must rescue a certain someone, if you must tromp through hideous & horrible landscapes, if you must find the golden McGuffin, if you must decide of whether or not the butler did it, or if you have to learn the women in the red dress is is actually a man in a suit, then this music is for you. Remember it. It will never fail you, never let you down, and forever fuel the grit you'll need to see you through your ordeal. Let this music help you persevere, 'til you get back to calm, lovely pastures, hilltops, quiet abodes, sandy shores and the ebullience of peacetime, fellow life-traveler!
God bless the 1980's, growing up as I did, we had some of the best movies. Krull, Star Trek II, Battle Beyond the Stars, Star Trek III, and all had a score by James Horner. It was like every year we got an awesome sci-fi or fantasy film. Think of it, from 1980 on, we had Raiders of the Lost Ark, Battle Beyond the Stars, Empire Strikes Back, Star Trek II, Krull, The BeastMaster, DragonSlayer, the list goes on and on.
This film/soundtrack rings incessantly in my heart ..... a childhood dream ..... everything about this film and soundtrack is flawless and timeless!!! The 80's rocked and I had the luxury of being apart of it as a child. Is there a single woman out there that shares this vision of Krull with me!!???!!?? My dream!!
The 80's were a singular moment in history, and I'm glad I was there as a child to enjoy it. Not just the Indy and Star Wars films, but even Krull, Ladyhawk, Last Starfighter, et al. Oh to go back and live it all over again...

I've always loved this score. Colwyn and Lyssa breaks my heart. The Ride of the Firemares would not have been the same without James. This score "pairs well" with the Wrath of Khan.
RIP James Horner, am awesome musical composer. Totally snubbed for an Oscar nod here for his musical score, and the same for his musical score for Glory 👍

kind of sounds like a star trek theme, close. i do remember the movie as a kid, always loved to watch it when it came on hbo, cinemax or showtime on the old cable box and tvs heh
Saw this in the cinema and it felt like a proper adventure film where I was young enough to be scared but still enjoy. Love this soundtrack. Has that epic big film score feel.
Always loved this soundtrack. I wonder if there are any Star Trek fans on here who know that this film's star, Kenneth Marshall, played Eddington on DS9.
I liked the film when it came out back in the 80's it was a classic for me back then along with Battle Beyond The Stars another James Horner score and star trek
@@spankeyfish he scored my all-time fave movie, Aliens. Some of that bled over into Avatar, and there was some unused material that made it into Die Hard.
Yes, I agree that's one of his best - this and Zorro and Avatar. And I love the score of Willow also, which has a similar rousing feel as Krull (even though he lifted the main theme from anoother composer's work, but then he did that in Aliens too, and he may be forgived because both times it fits.).
I was just recently watching this movie for the first time in a long time while cooking and turned away during the main theme, only to come back from the pantry with onions and potatoes in my hands and saying "do I hear James Horner?"
Still fresh and exciting in 2019, as it was back then. Horner took some of his music from this movie, and dropped it on *_Star Trek,_* and *_Aliens_* later on. 👍🏽💪🏽💯🙏🏽
