  • Do you have idling issues with your Pajero. Idling too high or idling too low. See my idling issues I had and the solution to the problem. I also misdiagnosed the problem so be on the lookout for that too.
    A big thank you to fellow fisherman and Pajero owner, Nazeem Gierdien for his assistance in trouble shooting and swopping out his parts to solve the issue. Greatly appreciated!!
    Hope this video is a help to others.
    Comments are most welcome.

    Haha. Top cast. Arrived here from various searches. Glad took circuitous route, as would have gone in using general car tips. Montero/Pajero IAC looks different and placed under the pipe rather than on top. First video found took it apart. Also precise diagnosis with gears. Like mine. Hope a clean solves the problem. Cheers!

      @@terencesimpson100 Finally had a look. The IAC was filled with gunk + oily residue. Especially around the mouth/screw area. Not sure if got a separate problem as smoke from one side of engine area.
      Cleaned the IAC + seems to be idling ok between 950 to 1200, depending on load.

      So I took it apart and cleaned it. I turns fine, but it didn’t fix my issue. The idle is now higher than before , it was around 2500 when I started the car, when it used to be around 2000, after driving around some, it now seems to be around 2000 again. I disconnected and reconnected the IAC harness while the car was running,… but there was no different whatsoever. Now I’m wondering if the sensor is just completely faulty or if there’s air creeping past the o ring. Or if it has nothing to do with this. I don’t know what to do next . Siiigh. Any ideas?

    • @terencesimpson100
      @terencesimpson100  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Omardottcom process of elimination unfortunately. Replace o ring but doubt it's that. Or use some sealant to help seal any air bypass. Try cleaning the mass airflow sensor...electrode spray only...mass airflow spray. Do not touch or wipe sensor. Spray it and let it dry. Hopefully it's dirty and sending a bad signal. Hope it helps.

      @@terencesimpson100 Got it all sorted out. Someone I talked to locally who is a Montero mechanic said it’s the air idle bypass in the throttle. He modified the throttle by eliminating some bypass holes that are on the throttle and the car Idles great now as soon as I start it.

    I replaced the IAC valve on my 2001 montero sport and now idles really high about 1500 to 2000rpms... What else can be????

    • @terencesimpson100
      @terencesimpson100  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      So the previous AIC valve was faulty so you replaced it??. Was it idling high before the new valve fitted? Is it a brand new valve or 2nd hand. Youve tested if it works i presume. Another issue could be that you may have a dirty mass air flow sensor in your mass airflow unit/box. Can cause idling issues too. It's a small fine filament sensor in the middle of the mass airflow box. Can be cleaned with electronic circuit board spray. Spray and let dry...dont wipe or touch the filament. Very delicate and sensitive. Hope it helps...let me know.

    Mine is just start and going off it's self i change spark plugs and in tank fuel pump and filter.

    • @terencesimpson100
      @terencesimpson100  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Check if you got spark on each plug and see if there is fuel or signs of combustion on the plugs. You need to find out if it's fuel or spark..seems like fuel but can't be certain until you eliminate al else. If you've opened the motor ie cambelt chance etc your timing may be out...can be many things. Start with the easiest. My van was messing around then died totally. Had to change crank sensor. Hope it helps..
