    As a former Judo Practitioner I can confirm we spend about half our time reseting our Jackets
    EDIT: You can't blame us, our whole thing is grabbing eachother's jackets and yanking them around. And when your training (doing this stuff every few minutes) you get self conscious okay!!!!

      @@Marcusjnmc Eeeh that depends entirely on the dojo, iirc, most dojos doesn't strictly follow olympic rules. I trained in a dojo where all sparring had to end in floor fighting, so it was realistically 50/50 standing and ground.

      @@Marcusjnmc that’s spot on, judo is the sport version of jujitsu which in japan was a bit different than BJJ. I don’t understand why BJJ didn’t adapt most judo throws. I think the Gracies normally fought against wrestlers though if I remember correctly so they learned how to wrestle to counter takedowns and maybe that’s why. If you search on google you can find the old Japanese Jiu Jitsu techniques which include strikes.

      In my personal experience, it took me 5 to 6 years to earn my First Degree Black Belt in WT Taekwondo. There was nothing easy about it. I have a good Instructor to teach and guide me. However I get where the negative stereotypes comes from. Bad "Instructors" who care more about money and not the art. Bad "practitioners" who care about rank and not knowledge, skill or discipline. They give WT Taekwondo, the great practitioners and Instructors of this style a bad reputation.

      @@josewmeldondo yeah, the vast majority like 90% of it, gives it a bad reputation. However the reputation is well deserved when shit TKD is more prevalent the good ones. And mostly the goods schools teach ITF. This is coming from a WTF style poom belt.

Since my mumma was already a known martial artist in the town so it was easier for me to train at a good dojang and also despite of being a kickboxer she also supervised my tkd training herself, so My mom despite of not being a legit taekwondo teacher helped me get better at tkd.

      i can doubt you are a judoka because the judogi is not a kimono.
      Its like saying "oh, i hate it when i stain my tuxedo..." but in reality you mean sweatpants

      @@Kali-8 A kimono is a formal dress. thats why i compared it to a tuxedo. Judogi is training attire for judo, like sweatpants.

      I know of several guys who stopped practicing some really effective and practical Martial Arts to go train in Kali. And my only thought is, "You know if you use ANY of that in a self-defense scenario you are going straight to prison right?" 😅

      @@Arcana437 yeah. We know that the Chinese traded with the Philipino people for several centuries before pulling back into a self imposed isolation. There is a lot of debate in some martial arts circles about whether Chinese White Crane influenced Kali or Kali influenced it. 😄 White Crane is the parent art of Wing Chun so either way it makes sense.

    Personnally, I believe that the only good Self Defense model is the sprint... None of my "KO oriented" sports ever taught me that. But at least, I can fight you in a ring if you accept the rules.

    as someone who practices krav maga, I find most of the points and stereotypes, along with the history jokes, to be completely valid. I've done it for most of my life, and understand its flaws, why you incorporate other styles, similar to jeet kun do, but don't fall into movies and not being a style because then it's all mushy and hard to keep track and very very very hard to learn. thought this was a Karen rant didn't you? I save that for twitter and facebook. I would if I still had it that is.

    Saying martial arts don’t help you in a “real” fight is like saying airsoft doesn’t make you a better shot because the bb’s fly differently than bullets and it has rules. Well, yes, but actually no
    Besides, by that logic, the only way to get good at “real” fights is to go pick fights with people, err, I mean, potential opponents that are probably a decent level for you that are actually trying to actively neutralize the threat (i.e., you) as if their and/or their family’s safety depended on it. Sounds like the fast track to prison, I’d say. And it’s, like, a dick move, man..
