Tks for the How To video. I just did this job and want to post a few tips. The coolant reservoir must be tipped forward towards the front of the car to give you clearance for the front torque strut bolt to be removed. Pull the large coolant hose out of its plastic bracket for more wiggle room. Access the 2 tensioner bolts thru the wheel well , not from under the hood. It’s easier and you can use a ratchet to both remove and install. The 3rd bolt takes a wrench from under the hood. To remove the belt you stick a 19mm open end wrench over the rear edge of the tensioner and pull towards the front of the car while slipping the belt off of the alternator pulley. You need to exert quite a bit of force on the tensioner to slacken the belt enough to get it off the pulley. Note : there is no specific place where the wrench sits. It just slips over the slightly protruding edge of the tensioner. The video and explanation is not crystal clear in this step.
Would be awesome if you were to update the video/add another one for the supercharged T6 versions (S90/V90) given they use a different pulley and tensioner model/setup.
My belt Snapped but did not look old nor no cracks in it just pure snap - do you know why? All wheels “alternator” and the other one moves well.. could it be broken tensioner of so how to check! V69 D4 . Thanks
Thank you so much for this video. These steps help me on my 2017 XC60 2.0T. It looks like the engine was the same as mine. It would be nice to have a conversion from Nm to ft./lbs. Excellent work though.
I always appreciate the videos from FCPEuro, always thorough and informative. However in this case I do have provide a note or two on this installation. Removing the front right wheel, fender liner, and the engine mount bracket is NOT necessary at all. The wheel and fender liner is absolutely NOT necessary. The engine mount bracket might make things slightly easier, but honestly it was not in my way at all. I was able to remove the serpentine belt and tensioner without any trouble, using basic hand tools. The hardest thing was getting the 13mm bolt to line up for the tensioner, but once that was threaded, the rest was a cinch.
Yeah... if you're doing the belt, don't do any of this, literally working on one of these right now, you can get to everything without stripping the car down to the studs lol
I was gonna say - on my old Mustang you just needed to release the tension with a wrench and pull the belt off like he does at 6:09. Hopefully I can just get in there with a wrench without tearing everything apart since I don't need to replace the tension pulley as well.

Well im glad there was more space on the xc60. I didnt have to remove anything to get to it and replace the tensioner. Thank you for this video.
Brilliant, very competent performance and clearly and logically explained. Thanks also for all the torque settings, extremely useful. Well done.
Thank you for the video. It is the same procedure to replace the Alternator?
How did you take the tension off. I cant see the tool you used
My belt

You are a professional.thanks for your information
Hello! Thanks! Too good video. Is it exactly the same on a D3 engine? (Volvo Diesel engine, 4 cylinder), to change the Drive Belt, and Tensioner?
