Love hearing you talk about these very specific topics! By the way, are there some cropping issues with the thumbnail and at some points in the video, or is that exclusively on my end?
I came here looking for a way to help my son deal with sarcasm. What I learned is the key seems to understanding yourself ( which you come across as understanding yourself) . My son is 12. He knows he is on the spectrum but he doesn't always get that autism has its own set of obstacles. I guess what I'd like to know is , is there something I could do to help him understand my sarcasm? Did your family find a way to help you with it? Thank you for sharing your videos it is appreciated!
Hello, thanks for watching! :) I think it’s important to say the sarcasm and then afterwards, casually, explain that it was sarcasm and what you actually meant. Being autistic some of us comes with the ability to mimick and a will to understand, learn and fit in. Not that fitting in is important, but it makes us learn things that don’t come natural, just because we don’t wanna be the one left out. I think that’s the thing with sarcasm too. It’s also important that sarcasm can be so many different forms, and most of neurotypicals also DON’T understand sarcasm, so maybe try to find some people his age that don’t understand sarcasm? It that way he can have a place to not think about it, but still learn it through home? Or opposite. Ofc, I’m not a professional, but I have a lot of stories and lifeexperienve with handling and learning sarcasm :) Feel free to ask more questions, thank you for asking them. :)
They didn't give me a diagnosis based on my use of sarcasm and metaphors -- I was so annoyed by this and requested a second opinion/new assessment. I mean, even Greta Thunberg uses sarcasm!
I think this is why sometimes people don't understand my jokes lol
I like sarcasm because by its very nature you can just say. Oh sorry I was just/not being sarcastic.
I like listening to you.
Omg, you’re so nice, thank you 😍
Me to its like someone finally telling me I am smart and witty and kind. It is nice
