- We are still discussing the Mbari people's journey, which began in Yemen, passing through Guruve, where they left Mufawanaka and who settled in the Guruve area. From there, they passed through Mhandambiri, now known as Concession. Interestingly, the Mazowe River was originally called Manzowe by the Mbari people. However, the white settlers struggled to pronounce Manzowe, resulting in the name being changed to Mazowe. Makombe, Mbari's younger brother, settled in the Manzowe area.
Mbari continued his journey and eventually settled at Chihoka Hill, now known as Kopje. The Mbari people had a sister named Chinyerere, who was not allowed to marry due to a traditional custom, she became 'mbonga.' As a result, her daughters-in-law would often mock her for being unmarried. One day, Chinyerere took the children of his brothers to a pool, where she mysteriously disappeared with the kids into the pool the pool was named after the Chinyerere's nickname Dzivarasekwa. Let's hear more about this story from Rungano Magwani.
