Waaaaaiiit foooor it .... “feelings” ... Yup, that’s the extent of the depth of research her opinions were based on, but she was SO SURE she was “right”.
Even got told that my using logic and reasons and objectively comparing their relative merits and expecting her to do the same, when we disagreed, was MANIPULATING, CONTROLLING and BRAINWASHING 😲😬🤷♂️🤦🏼♂️
My biggest mistake was assuming that, when finally confronted with the facts and a rigorous logic analysis that and having to expose her feelings-based ideology to the cold, harsh, light of day, that she would do the mature, responsible, intellectually righteous thing and acknowledge the silliness of the ideology and conclusions and actually CHOOSE to change her mind. Nope, not interested at all in being an adult - just determined that I was “being mean” by confronting her with the truth ...
SO disappointed and disillusioned.
However, now that I know the bottom line for most women, tho none I’ve met will actually admit this, forewarned is forearmed.
Next relationship - if there IS a next time - will be with a woman who is already dedicated to DOING things that cost her time, energy, money and hardship, in order to further an agenda that I agree with already. Don’t listen to what they say - Watch what they do.

If ya read between the lines and I'm a conservative I'm actually glad to see this. Maybe it's a way to show society on the most simple scale what society needs to open up to in order to start working together. Don't get to cozy now just fighting eachother and being divided. Our ultimate goal is to be a nation again. To be able to accept some stuff from both parties we may or may not agree with. This is actually a good example. Now expand that thinking on both sides of the coin and all of a sudden you have a nation that's finally begginings to heal 🤔 food for thought.

Its filler because Global News needs to fill a 3 minute segement of a 30 minute newscast. Its hard to do a news stoey involving in-depth newsworthy reporting in only 3 minutes time. If they tried to do an in- depth news story about a complex modern day issue but had to cut out hige chunks of it to fit it into the 3 minute segment then many people would have screamed bloody murder. They also can't fill that time with stuff like weather reports or movie reviews because those have already been planned into the newscast and can't be stretched to fill up time.
So they likely just asked couples on the internet if anyone's marriage had been affected by discussion of politics, found this couple, gave two return plane tickets to one news reporter and one film camerman and said "go report and film a short news story about this couple."
Or this news story could've originally been a news story that was meant to be 10 minutes long but had to be cut dow for time in order to fit into the 3 minute segment.

Like there are 1 hour news programs that devote each episode to a different issue.
Complaining that this 3 minute news segment was not an in-depth, hard hitting report about an important global issue is like complaining that the 10 page daily newspaper they offer for free at coffee shops does not have the same kind of hard hitting reporting as a normal 40 page daily newspaper

I get it, its an important issue.
If you make excessive use of printed words with all capital letters and exclamation marks, that undermines your points and makes other perceive you as being emotionally unbalanced.
However you posted was indeed important international news.
If people want to hear and see about important national and international news, Global News is not the place for that. Global News is mostly focused around casual news stories as well as local news stories for the communities it broadcasts in. Global News primary audience is very likely the elderly and families with school age children who watch the nightly news before or after supper. They do not want to hear too many news stories that are incredibly complex to understand properly and emotionally depressing to see and hear about. They just want simple news bites. The proper market and medium for complex news stories videos is online, where people can check out 30 minute videos that go in depth on specific topics.
Global News does a lot of news stories about Canadians, they just chose to do a short human interest news story about Americans.
While the news stories that you shared are interesting and important, this news story is also interesting to me. Its interesting to see how average/normal Americans are dealing with the divisive political issues that are currently gripping that country.

This is newsworthy because if the political situation in the U.S. wasn't so fraught with tension like at present then discussion centering around politics likely wouldn't have affected their marriage at all.
Also they both come across as incredibly mellow minded and fair handed people. The fact that discussion of politics has socially affected even a civil minded couple like them to such an extent is newsworthy.
Also yes, couples do regularly disagree on things and if they disagree so much on politics then maybe they shouldn't have become a couple at all. However they may likely just severely disagree on a few key issues (like specific issues regarding government taxation of individuals and businesses) and civillg disagree or have a general consensus regarding other political issues.
