Almost professional you say? Doug, you have been doing carpentry work for years now, and I think you are more than qualified to be a professional. And I'm not joking when I say that just so you know. I sincerely mean every word of it. It's going to look so nice once you get the roof put on it. You will be happy once you see the finished product.
Absolutely agree!! Always such thoughtful, careful work that's reflected in the outcome. Such a fun video - happy to see this trailer reborn and perfect.
For those of you worried so much about their personal lives and Family, i think perhaps look at your comments to kinda get a clue as to why. While i believe most is with good intentions and genuine concern for family, read the room. Its gotta be super weird, intrusive, smothering, and overwhelming. Asking pesonal questions, making assumptions, and the like is probably not helpful. Then, couple that with some pretty bad behavior in the comments as of late, I can totally understand the need to step away. Some need more time than others. If I had to guess, I imagine Doug himself may not necessarily want to be back on camera right now either. However, the incessant worry, no matter how good-natured, seems to require and to demand some sort of answers or presence which is again, super weird. Not to mention, I would say as happens quite often, unfortunately, there are a lot of creeps that hang out in TH-cam comments and obsess over channels sometimes in strikingly weird ways too. Just take it at face value. If Doug is on, great if Evie is on, That's good too. But trying to read too much into the meta information beyond just the content is quite rude IMO and not helpful in any way. 2 cent spent.
It's incredible how you just figure things out. Work ethic, logic, function, durability, esthetics, determination, and love you put into everything your family does. 🥰
I so wish I had the ability to do this. When I was young now I watch and dream. I still do small projects but they take way longer. The other thing is you can’t find people to do work. So many aren’t trustworthy, so many are too busy. So I keep watching picking up all the info I can.
Doug, I don't know why you doubt yourself. You are one of the most professional amateurs I have ever seen. Everything you do when it comes to building is above and beyond.
You are an extraordinary young man the best DIY on UT, so capable, intuitive and inventive. There is so much to admire about how you work plus we can pick up some how to do things. Yea, you are a Master in the way you bring your projects back to new - and I wish I had an ounce of your talent!!
Agree💯%!! I've "used" Doug and Sam for so much of my renovation!! Their knowledge and easily understood directions have made a great reference for many of my tasks!! Thanks Doug!!
So happy you could save the trailer. I know it bothered you immensely to see it damaged...but you persevered. I don't think there is anything you can't do. World needs more thinkers like you😊
I think for myself I am not going to read any of the comments. I really enjoy watching your videos and am in awe of you and your families values. Living your best life for each other is what is important. I have never seen or heard anything negative from you. Keep on doing your best at all of your projects. I’ll be here to watch. Thank you!🤗❤️
"It almost looks professional"... Dude, you are a professional. You tackled that job I'm sure most wouldn't have. We all thought you should have ditched the trailer after the "accident". Anyone of us would be happy to buy anything you make. We giggle when you make a small mistake, like the battery issue. You have incredible insights and tenacity on builds. You are leaving quite a legacy for your kids.
Absolutely it's professional, and even better than most!! I've seen a lot of messed up work done by "professionals", and even had to hire a different one to fix what the previous one did. I saved up for months to get what I needed done, and had to take out a loan to hire the second one. Because the repairs had to be done quickly, since it was in worse shape than it originally was. You and Eevee are awesome and I love how ya'll think outside the box!! Your individual talents are really amazing!! Sending Lots of Love and Bunches of Hugs to you both and the kiddos!! ❤❤❤❤
THIS!! this could've been written by me. every "expert" i've hired since i've moved to this lovely small town i'm in, and into my 90 year old brick home, has made the problems worse!! i have re pointed the side of my house by myself because the company botched it so badly, even had them come out to do it right, i could no longer afford to hire another company. i didn't trust them to ever do it right. so i learned and did it slowly myself. the encapsulation in the basement has only ruined my foundation walls as they are made from local river bed (like adobe) and need to breath. "professionals" only know how to deal with concrete or cinder block foundations. i am now re rendering with lime mortar...i LOVE watching their outside the box thinking and have learned so much on how to deal with my house from Doug and Evee. (the asides he makes about protecting wood, what pieces should or shouldn't touch, what creative safe ways you can re wire, how to use different tools, how to mitre cut...the list goes on)
It's coming along nicely. I've been very hit and miss on watching videos lately due to pneumonia and even worse on leaving comments. Today I got caught up on the last few. It's nice to see what you've been up to now that I can focus on a screen again.
Looking forward to seeing what you've done now with your uh-oh project. I'm sure you're not gonna disappoint ..... now, I've got to pay attention to the video!
Doug it looks so good!! A blessing in disguise !! I’ve never heard of an angle finder before. I think the big box stores are going to be over run with requests for them now!!! Of course you have shown so many tools that I have never seen before that every time I see a new one I think of my husband(deceased) that I sure wish he would have had one of them. He wasn’t a carpenter, but liked to piddle. Although he did build us a building to keep all his supplies in & the lawnmower, and it is still standing 45 years later!!!! So glad you guys are back. I was so lonely. Until next time! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much. I enjoy featuring the tools that I like or interesting new products, but it's never been well received on our channel. I wish I could share things like that more often.
@@diyfferentbeen a subscriber from the start. I enjoy you showing tools. Among the many many other things about the channel. I just got the battery DeWalt circular saw you use. Love it.
You may have doubted your ability to do it, we never did! You are an awesome carpenter! It’s simply amazing how you think things through and getting things done. God bless you and your family ♥️
Hey......I was watching/listening to an old 3 dog night video and you guys popped up......I'm the 4th commentor.......Thats a record for me......Oh......Great job on your videos......
I have been watching you for many years. You are such a great carpenter, a person who cares about his work and family. After the devastating damage on your trailer I always felt you would find a way to repair it!! Keep up the great work!
I can tell already this project is going to turn out beautifully. The storage area is needed, to be sure. But, you will look back on this one day and just smile to yourself. That tree may have knocked the wind out of your sails for a little bit, but, not for long! Keep going. Can't wait for this restoration to be completed. Take care. Thank you!
All the skills you have acquired along the way as you have tackled each job and figured them out are now evidenced in the superb reclaiming of the trailor and its reincarnation into a much sturdier building.
Thank you. No matter how I look at it, the tree falling puts us way behind. It really cost us in many ways. But we just have to do our best to pull out of it.
Awesome job Doug. Hubby and I really enjoy watching you. Husband has been building custom homes gut over 40 years and he’s impressed with your work. Missing Evee’s sweet face and her keeping you on task. I hope that she is well and make on videos soon.
Great job! I love how you didn’t give up and scrap it. I was a little nervous for you climbing around on top. You have good balance. I sure couldn’t do it! Well done!
I love watching you build! You may not consider yourself a professional builder, but you are probably 10 times better than those who are considered professional. You care about doing the very best with every project you do, and I bet everything you build will last for a lot longer than most "professional" builds.
I've been watching your channel for many years. Back when you had the old school house and mobile home property. I am glad to hear/see you are getting through. Please don't pay attention to the haters... I love what you are doing with the trailer!
I really enjoy all your videos. I have been watching you since almost the beginning. I myself was overwhelmed with damage we sustained from a tornado last spring then to immediately have a major breakdown on one of my vehicles. Your videos give me inspiration to keep going when times are tough. I, like your family, try to do most things myself. There's nothing more satisfying that seeing the fruits of your labor. All we can do is address one problem at a time and keep moving forward. Thanks Doug and Evie for your inspiring videos and for being willing to tackle even the toughest challenges. Thanks for keeping it real and showing that life is not always easy, but that persistence and strong family values always triumph in the end. My prayers to you and your family! 🙏🙏
Doug, you are on a roll. You'll meticulously figure it out and get it done right. Be careful. No injuries allowed. Stay safe. This storage space is gonna be fabulous. I think you should have added some sloping to eliminate standing water. 🤔 I know you will do what's best. I'm so excited. It looks great.
