In this clip, NLE Choppa addressed his failed deal with Steve Stoute's UnitedMasters, and he revealed that the deal ultimately didn't work out because he was underaged and didn't finish signing his paperwork. Yeah man dude was 15/16 when he came out with and had hits with Shotta Flow and whatnot, and had been independent the whole time. Distribution deal is what he had 4 different platinum songs that were at least multi-plat that a label didn't pay to have done and owns the rights to.
And he was only 16 at the time it's almost unheard of for the independent part any other artist with that success so early in a career for 1 and 2 at that age guaranteed was with a label that was screwing them and probably had a bad deal... look at Wayne success early and Birdman screwed everyone who's ever signed there. NBA YB momentum picked up soon as he signed with Atlantic he had 6 tapes no certifications he signed and A.I YB dropped made Billboard is later platinum THEN older songs started getting more views as well after label push made him mainstream and he became the number TH-cam artist for 101 weeks straight... all great and was like 18 at the time and under a horrible deal tnat he's been complaining about for years now.
Doesn't own his masters, allegedly they even get the YT revenues because it's their songs as well they own the masters and publishing, the up-front was terrible 2 million for 5 albums just 400K per album for the hottest artist in rap... dude doesn't NOT chart and go at least gold with everything now. Every single gets certified, every video reaches millions in hours, his recent 30 song album is dominating Apple just pushing Beyonce to the side damn near all 30 songs are in the top 50 whatever for their charts, great stats at the age as well mostly just looking at it all. Bad when you see he's getting screwed and not recieving nearly what he's worth, NLE did great to be thinking at 15/16 to turn down $3M cash take less money now but own all my shit still have it go multi-plat anyway plus what he'd get from streams, YT, etc not being divided by multiple hands and have great leverage going into a deal to keep your masters and all that.
Young man realized EARLY that it's a dirty game and just played it how it's supposed to be played. in the music game integrity gets thrown out the window!

NLE just needs to grow as an artist, businessman, and as an entrepeneur. I see greatness in him even though i don't listen to his music i can see him acting and starting his own music label. I hope bro makes it and establishes himself as one of the greatest.
