1:10:43 Reading comprehension has become a huge problem these days. He was asked what "Not Like Us" means to him. He said It's the energy of who he is and the type of man he represents(Which he went on to elaborate). If you can identify with him you're part of "us". The explanation addressed the meaning of the phrase. The reason this question was so important is because certain groups of people had interpreted the words differently. Those who aimed to portray Kendrick as discriminatory, or sought to promote discrimination against others, had interpreted it in this way: 1. They (Biracial/white people) are not like us (black people). 2. They (canadians) are not like us (americans). 3. They (toronto people) are not like us (The west coast). This bothered me very much because I felt this was never Kendrick's intent. There are people in those categories who love and identify with his messages who would feel slighted if that were the case. I always believed that it was exactly like he explained it. The "Us vs. Them" theme was all about character, values, and behavior rather than superficial divisions. So, in the chorus, in relation to the whole song, if you support or embody the type of behavior he portrayed Drake and his crew as having, then you're not like "US" (Kendrick and whoever identifies with the type of man he represents). His words in Watch The Party Die also reinforced this idea: "And so it’s up, if you ain’t one of ours, it’s bad news" I liked the way Genius broke it down: "This lyric reads as a warning. Kendrick Lamar is drawing a line between those who are part of his circle or share his values and those who do not. “One of ours” implies a sense of allegiance, likely referring to those who align with his idea of integrity and vision for the future-as laid out in the second verse. Those who are not aligned will have to get in line or be left behind as Kendrick continues to reshape the culture.” He released this song the following month (September) after the Bazaar interview in August, by the way. He gave us his thoughts on the beef and the current state of hiphop. Atleast consider that. “Why reason with these niggas if they can't see the future first? Why argue with these clowns if the circus is well at work? Just walk that man down, that'll do everyone a solid It's love but tough love, sometimes gotta result in violence” “Influencers talk down 'cause I'm not with the basic shit But they don't hate me, they hate the man that I represent”

Elliot Wilson is such an hater...truth is this fool never believed in KDOT from the get go, he literally said GKMC was not a classic yet thinks every album drake has a album. FAKE
I think DJ Hed has finally admitted to being a journalist. He does research for the interviews he conducts which are conversational all the while building trust with the artists. This is the way. In a world full of Aks be a Justin Hunte. Looking forward to the discussion with Gina about Shenseea on Effective Immediately. No shade being thrown at Elliott though. He does some great interviews on The Elliott Wilson Experience, but do y'all think he can borrow a couple of the mics from this set for his show? Secret message music while Jeremy reads Hed's phone would be great for future episodes. Also if Hecht is missing for a few episodes everyone will know that it's probably because Hed got him back. This episode was very educational too. It could probably be chopped up and made into a bunch of PSAs. Until next time stay on stream (SOS) y'all.
Crazy how times have changed. Took Elliot over a year to call GKMC a classic but called “her loss” a classic after a few months. We all knew GKMC was special because of the substance, how personal it is, conceptually etc, whether you called it a classic or not, we all knew it was up there. I just don’t get how you can call her loss a classic when it has none of what GKMC has in its own right. My point is, the criteria for a classic nowadays has dropped significantly.
@@HumanityInCrisis agreed. Plus I think Elliott would put personal preferences to the side. He’s a professional. Also, it’s not just Elliott. Elliot is so LAME!!! Stop trying to control and figure Kendrick out. When I read the interview I thought it was in line with who Kendrick has always been. I’m so glad he moves at the beat of his own drum.
27:22 this is something to consider: there’s a considerable percentage of “fans” that are also artists. So to include conversation about bts is only a natural progression of access and the internet. Secondly, the art of the roll out is at such a deficit in music, that when somebody does it at a high level, it’s like they reinvented the wheel
Almost 2 hours in now and wanna add Elliot also has been making lots of really good points on the interview, the relationship between media and artists, and the power some of these guys have to effect things. His experience shows with how eloquent he can put these thoughts together on the spot imo.
Kendrick gave Elliott so many chances because he respects the culture and its legends. He fumbled that relationship because of the Canadian, why be salty now?
I don’t think Elliott realizes that Kendrick has been saying Not Like US for a long time. It wasn’t something he just made up. He said in the song he did with Jay Rock I think it was Wow Freestyle

one of my favorite parts of this show is how much y’all have changed my perspective on music and the industry. would LOVE if y’all did a The Bigger Picture & Friends spot every now and then where you brought in folks from the industry every now and then to chop it up with you, that could really contribute to the convo with informed POV
But the song is specially tied to his character. The man he represents.
Elliott Wilson is built like he grew up in Chernobyl. Great show DJ Hed & Jeremy Hecht
☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️
😭😭😭😭
"Tore into head" is crazy work Elliot 😭😭😂😂
Hahahahaha Jeremy!! That was smooth AF bro, props to Gina for playing along and keeping it tight!
But... I think Hed is going to make this, take this to whole other levels(I hope he does). But remember, you shall NOT back down. In your words, "You can't go back now!"
😂🫡🏆
Shoutout to the best Pod out.
facts
Thumbs up to Jeremy and Dj Hed!
Elliott Wilson na
That ab soul interview was really good
It seems like all three of you have integrity and not bottom feeders like a popular hip hop streamer. I appreciate that!
Stay on stream. Is the album name
Trust me I’m def staying on stream😎 you guys are legends !
Always looking forward to each new episode. Great dynamic and chemistry between Westcoast Wilson, Certified Cover Boy, and DJ Hed
I’ve always said that Kendrick will perform Broccoli at the Super Bowl, I’ve said that since day, one of the announcement and some people in the comments, thought I was crazy
Hed : “ Yo OCK, lemme get a chop cheese!!!” 😂😂😂
Aha!!!😂😂😂 that’s up there with “Washup Shun”
Elliot Wilson is such an hater...truth is this fool never believed in KDOT from the get go, he literally said GKMC was not a classic yet thinks every album drake has a album. FAKE
Stay on stream 😂😂😂
This is turing real good got be honest. Getting better and better every week
Kendrick looked at Ellicott, having a meltdown about his interview, and probably feels validated by his decision to do the interview how he did.
Yo why Elliot built like the grinch 😭
😅😅😅😅
He built like Kendrick
Random as hell but I was watchin TV the other day and realized that Jeremy reminds me of Ced the Entertainer's neighbor on The Neighborhood 😂
@@MAWDiddy_803 loll ima go take a look now and report back, hopefully
That "masters degree " should have its segment on the podcast....
We need that
I think DJ Hed has finally admitted to being a journalist.
1:05:52 Proof Elliot is a messy ass man. 😂
U it’s good when you enjoy every week( keep going)
It's time for The Bigger Picture, a Saturday morning staple.
"I ain't fuckin' wit' nun from Canada" -DJ Hed
If I was Kendrick, I wouldn’t sit with people who were buddy buddy with my Op. Elliott is great but he did show up to episode 1 in Scorpion merch.
@@Desiree_Jasmine Haha agreed, but I'm not sure thats what he's asking. Ofcourse he wants it, but he also means authentic interviews via journalists
@@HumanityInCrisis agreed. Plus I think Elliott would put personal preferences to the side. He’s a professional. Also, it’s not just Elliott. Joe Budden was close with Drake and I think he would still do a professional interview. But I’m still not going to my OP’s former friends first. That’s just me.
Jeremy is a dope communicator, Hed's experience shows in his choice of words, Elliot is a journalist to the bone
The track isn’t called Broccoli, it’s called “Mr Get Off” and that’s the version of Kendrick we’ve gotten this year. We had Mr Morale now we have Mr Get Off and that’s what the album will be centered around
I missed Elliot telling hed to SMD....yeah I officially don't like Elliot. He's a clown and I'm glad most people disrespect him when they speak about him ....he doesn't strike me as a man worthy of respect.
@@bgmck349 I think it's ok to dislike ppl. But imagine the show without him? Would you like it more? Perhaps I don't know enough about him. But I love how transparent he is, how all of them are in different ways, while keeping it in line. And I can't deny his contribution to Hiphop, plus he's a producer of the show and this is the best Pod. So he is doing something right, with a lot of quality, I just cannot deny it.
Come on😂 he's not that bad Lol!
Everything you hate about him you'll eventually love. Enjoy the show.
@@HumanityInCrisis I think the best part of the show is the interactions between Hed and Jeremy.... Elliot just seems like a fake egomaniac
This is disrespect and out of line. I am amazed how people sit behind a phone or computer and believe it’s okay to be disrespectful. If you don’t like the show or a person you have the choice to switch to something you enjoy. You don’t know these people. If there was a remark you disliked, point that out, let’s not take it personal.
It was ONE interview Elliot…I’m sure Kendrick will hit the hip hop outlets once his album drops, but he’s not going to talk about Drake with you…that’s really why everyone is mad bcuz they want to keep the battle going so they can get the engagement and the money🤷🏽♀️
Secondly, the art of the roll out is at such a deficit in music, that when somebody does it at a high level, it’s like they reinvented the wheel
kendrick lamar has always been true to himself. his answer is his own and if you don’t like it then you’re “not like us.” literally his whole point.
Elliot got me laughing so hard 5 minutes in already. Got him and Hed bullying Jeremy together now lol
😂😂😂😂
Almost 2 hours in now and wanna add Elliot also has been making lots of really good points on the interview, the relationship between media and artists, and the power some of these guys have to effect things. His experience shows with how eloquent he can put these thoughts together on the spot imo.
16:10 “I was feeling myself, jabbing at hed” is crazy 😂
MTG won the battle. NLU was a party at the funeral.
Jeremy dug his own grave with that prank on DJ Hed😭😂
@tracetroj240 Do the young lady even feel attracted back to D.J. Hed for him to feel that he has a chance with old girl?.
@naaimshareef I think he knows he might get rejected but he just wants to shoot his shot...... That's his celebrity crush
@@traceatroj240 I definitely respect that D.J. Hed thought is rather she says yes or no the brother is going for it no matter the answer.
1:53:19
As a guy whos turning 23 this year, and watching the 23rd Episode of The Bigger Picture. I can confirm GKMC is a classic👑
Jeremy we love you for inheriting the beef! AK = Trash.
DJ Hed rocking the cortez kennys. Love it
Kendrick gave Elliott so many chances because he respects the culture and its legends. He fumbled that relationship because of the Canadian, why be salty now?
"You made it a hot line I made it a hot song"🔥🔥🔥🔥 shout-out Jigga 😂😂
West coast
I REALLY DON'T LIKE Eliot Wilson. STOP PROJECTING.
TBP Gang or TBP Crew?
Let's choose our name. Because this is a great show! Respect from Memphis TN 901
Not a gang how about fam?
That's cool CCB! TBP Fam!
I don’t think Elliott realizes that Kendrick has been saying Not Like US for a long time. It wasn’t something he just made up. He said in the song he did with Jay Rock I think it was Wow Freestyle
So if he says 3 words years ago that means he’s been saying it all this time?
😂😂😂
*Elliot* - i wanna be included in these things
Also *Elliot* - change the genre
*Drake* - * *Khaled* voice * i *Like that*
33:17 even people who don’t listen to Tyler like that loves that new Tyler album
He a journalist but didn’t understand the context of the simply ass question cuz it’s not the answer he wanted
The Nike Cortez on DJ Hed is so West Coast.
Love this show
Elliot is thee biggest hater 😂
I came here for the culture!!!💯
DJ Hed is an elite GASLIGHTER LMAO 😂
Get Jeremy on a broccoli costume for Halloween Hed😂
