    Great video, thanks for sharing. At 8:54 you can see your left front tire is showing uneven wear. I have 2010 CRV, it has a vibration at speed and with the car up in the air, moving the rear tires back and forth I hear a clicking noise up front. I know my tires are in great shape so I suspect mine is the ujoints. I’ve been watching videos showing how to replace the staked joints, while I have all the tools I think I’ll save myself some time and aggregation and just replace the whole shaft.

    Thanks for sharing. I am facing the same noise, but my mechanic and dealership found nothing. After seeing your video, it is a relief to know it might be a tire issue, as I found there are some uneven threads.

      I Ordered a tire changing machine and balancer. I will be swapping out the tires on this car within the next 2-3 Months. I will make a part 3 Update when I replace the tires.

      @@OldSoulMillennialPlease let us know. I just purchased from the dealer a certified used 2018 Honda CR V and it is making that noise and dealer sold it with brand new tires and certified my mechanic said it was wheel bearings and took back to dealer and they found nothing wrong they said it must be the tires and road noise.

      Just replaced all 4 tires, car is now quiet as a mouse. May not be the case for everyone. A proper diagnosis and tire inspection for cupping is required.

    Hey,
    Great video. Would you happen to have a video of replacing the fluid pump that sticks out of the top of the rear differential?
    Part of the procedure is on bolting the driveshaft from the rear differential, and then dropping the rear differential suspending it on a jack stand of some sort
    Mine went. It’s a 2020 hybrid

    Great video. Very informative. I'm sorry for your troubles because we are having the same issue with my 2017 CR-V. I had Vehicle on the lift running at a certain speed checking with a stethoscope a very little noise with tires of the ground. I did replace the wheel bearing on the right front because it was making a slightly noise, but it didn't change much. My Question is: Have anyone try replacing the passenger side axle support bearing? Thanks and good luck.

    Excellent video. I’m trying to remove my 2016 RDX drive shaft, I have the car in neutral but I can’t seem to rotate the shaft in order to take out the other two bolts? I have the car in my garage, front wheel on ramps, foot brake fully engaged. Am I doing something wrong? Does the car have to on a hoist?

    Sounds like wheel bearings to me, I had a similar noise that got much louder the faster I went. Could definitely be the tires as well.
    I need to replace my driveshaft on my CRV due to a shot carrier bearing. Thanks for the video

    I have the same car but 2017 and exactly same noise. I have Michelin tires on it and Costco rotated the tires regularly. It's hard for me to believe that it would be a tire issue, but who knows. I left my car at the mechanic today and they are supposed to let me know what they think, tomorrow. I can let you know what they said

    • @OldSoulMillennial
      @OldSoulMillennial  ปีที่แล้ว

      How many miles do you have on that set of tires?
      Have you ran your hand down the treads in both directions to feel for sharp edges and uneven wear? (I strongly believe this is my issue)
      When I jacked the car off the ground and put it in drive, the noise was no longer present.
      You know, something I have learned this past year is a tire rotation shouldn't just be 'back to front' and 'front to back'; it should be 'back to front' and 'front diagonally back'. *This should not be done with directional tires.
      If you do not criss cross tires on rotation, it will cause sharp edges/ uneven wear on the treads.
      Regardless, please inform us what the mechanic says, action taken and if the issue was resolve.

      @@OldSoulMillennial They just called me and it looks like you were right. They said the insides of the tires are choppy and the tires should be replaced. They recommended getting alignment done at the same time. I'm disappointed in Costco though. They did rotation recently and I asked them to inspect the tires. They said the tires are fine.

      @@jaroslawolewniczak6613 Thank you for the update. I do all my mechanic work myself as I do not trust mechanics. (and I'm a cheap ass).
      I checked my alignment with string, and mine appeared to be within spec. An alignment is definitely not a bad idea.
      Do you plan to have the tires replaced now? or are you just going to deal with the noise until the tires are completely worn?
      Again, please keep us updated with the action taken and results.
      Cheers, OSM

    Great video! Really helpful. I have a 2016 HRV, would it be very different from this? The dealer already told me it needs to be replaced, I’m ordering my own parts and trying to do it myself to save some cash.

      Should be very similar. Just make sure you’re well equipped with tools. My philosophy has always been, as opposed to hiring a mechanic, invest in the tools that allow you to repair your own equipment.

    Ok, so we must be chasing similar ghost. On mine 2018 there is a noise present when I reach exactly 98 km/h starting from 95 it is hardly noticeable, 98 is the most loud and around 100 it is gone. The car had accident in the rear wheel, so I replaced whole hub assembly, and trailing arm as it was bent. Then the noise was gone,. Only thing left was the top arm as it was also bent a little. Then when I replaced the top arm, the noise started to come at the same speed of 98.... Last week did tire rotation (grenlander), no change same noise again.

  • @shayne5829
    @shayne5829 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    So, were the tires the cause of the noise? I have the same sound/issue coming out of 2012 CR-V. Replaced both rear wheel bearing hub assemblies, calipers, pad and rotors and still produces the same exact sound you were receiving at speed (~60MPH).

    • @OldSoulMillennial
      @OldSoulMillennial  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I strongly believe it’s the tires. Rub your hands back and forth on the tires. Do you feel chop?
      Ordering a tire changing and balance machine shortly. Will change the tires myself later this year. Will update with results.

      @@OldSoulMillennial unbelievable, I think you're right! On closed inspection my back tires appear to be worn more on the inside with some chop seen on the adjacent tread track. I'm getting a complete set of new Michelin (Defender 2) tires. So, next week I will replace the current 3 year old "Scorpion All Season Plus 3", which are cupped/chopped in the back. I'll report back here with the results, then.

      @@OldSoulMillennial Well, after replacing all (4) tires followed by a front and rear alignment, the issue is resolved. In case anyone is interested, I wound up going with the following tire model for our 2012 CR-V: Continental CrossContact LX25, since they were around $30/tire cheaper than the Defender 2s and rated a bit better for our use case. We drove ~200 Hwy miles (From NJ to Massachusetts) today and all was smooth and quiet!

    Redicolous you can't replace just the universal joint

  • @mchuo7834
    @mchuo7834 ปีที่แล้ว

    Tbh, I thought it was strange that such a late model Honda had a drivetrain issue such as failed driveshaft. Usually you can go 250k without repairs like this. If it’s the tires, and previous owner cheaped out, then it is more understandable lol.

    • @OldSoulMillennial
      @OldSoulMillennial  ปีที่แล้ว

      I can definitely say that there was some grinding when moving the u joints by hand.
      At this point, Im thinking it has to be the tires.
