Yesss I needed this . I’m trying to join at 26 . It’s been on my mind for many years . When I was in high school I got discouraged. They was saying negative things about the military. So I put it on hold . But not anymore . This is something I really wanna do .

@@minniesingh1459 just keep your head up and stay focused. Pt is easier for 30+ age group. Use your life experiences to motivate the team and set the example! A lot of people 30 years are joining you got this! 🤘

Damn, good luck. Well on my way to 21 when I enlisted & was considered an old man because most were 17 & 18. But then Vietnam was going on. Times sure are different. Grandfather served in WWI on a battleship, father served in the Navy Armed Guard during WWII, I survived one tour (deployment to you young guys) on Yankee Station on board a carrier. Flight deck duty. Hang in there, don't quit.

Im doing my best to get into shape to join the Navy i am 26 years old i tried different jobs then i tried college too but I am planning on joining the navy so im glad to see that there is a diffferent verity of ages joining was nervous thanks for the video

Joining at 30 is though. I enlisted at 18 but went to OCS at 27 and the guys who were 22/23 drove me nuts.
When I was a new HM1 at 24 I had an HM who was 33 I was on my 3rd combat deployment and he was on his first. I respected the guy's age but he definitely had a hard time adjusting. The guys I had who enlisted later in life were mixed.
I tend to tell guys enlisting later in life to finish college and immediately apply to OCS. More power to you for going at it.
That's cool. I join the navy at 17 and I stayed in for 30yrs, and retired at 47. Good luck to you. You going to have people younger than you giving you orders telling you what to do. Hope you can handle that. I made master chief at 34yrs old.

In boot at age 29 myself about 5 yrs ago, never too late! You’ll advance quick if you’re mature and charge hard at them quals and work ethic. You will also put up with lots of “teeny antics” lol it is what it is. IT is an excellent rate, they never last because of all the certifications and opportunities they have as a civilian so if you don’t end up liking the fleet..hello DD214 ;) Gl dude, you’ll do great things!
How did it go?
I tend to tell guys that they are more mature and have a better chance of succeeding because they realize the consequences but my experience with older enlisted is a mixed bag. Some are great and some are garbage.
I went to OCS at 27 with 9 years as prior enlisted and the 22/23-year-olds drove me nuts.

@Amanda Suarez boot camp is a mind f*** lol. Memorizing lots of info in a short amount of time is what’s expected. Many “younglings” may look to you for advise and direction, it’s awesome. RDC’s may or may not expect more out of you, depends on how they wanna run the show really 🤷🏽♂️
It’s a good experience, keep your mouth shut and do as your told quickly and you’ll be fine.
@@asexpistol most the guys I know who enlisted later in life where great it was only a hand full that had a hard time adjusting, which on the flip side I get where they are coming from. Early 30s answering to a 20 year old HM2 that’s hard. Right after I made 2nd HM fully locked up at 3rd and 2nd.
Also IT is a great rate good choice one of the better rates in the Navy. Currently a reservist but we have a ton of ITs and CTNs at my drill station and all the ITs who came off active duty seem to all have solid careers and like their job.
Based on my experience on both active duty and active reserves ITs seem to have a lot of cool billets as well.
Bro this was great! I’m 28, just got the process started with a recruiter this week. I think what’s great about joining a little later is that you have much more maturity than most others who you will be grouped with. Gives us older guys the opportunity to lead by example.
I’m curious though, with your college credits did a lot of people try and push you the Officer route?
This is true being older has its advantages! Unfortunately I don’t have a degree so I will have to finish before I go for officer, I haven’t ruled that out yet! Best of luck to you!

For me to join now in my mid twenties, I would have to be go in as an officer. Joining as enlisted is a waste of time after your early twenties. Straight out of high school obviously you go in as enlisted and its completely fine but later in life you should definitely strive to go in as an officer.

joined at 33. be prepared to be called papa or dad at bootcamp. and you will probably be forced into a leadership roll there as well because of your age. you will be fine. your an IT so you will be coming down here to Florida for you A school. IT class house is pretty strict cause there are so many of you guys. the base is very small but our Captain is one of the best in the navy. IT are pretty much Auto up to e6 from what the school house says. If you have any questions about Corry i can answer them ive been here for a while. see you soon

@@anadavila7571 still early in my enlistment been in just under a year. Still in training for my job. But I'm loving it. A lot of the these kids ask me a lot of questions and expect me to know the answers just because im older and I just look at them and say "hell I dont know Im in the same boat as you." Then they make me go ask cause they are scared of the NCOs. I'm treated with a bit more respect and freedom than my piers but im also held to a slightly higher standard to be an example to my piers. Joining the navy was the smartest and best thing I've ever done. Even though it means being away from my wife and child.
My husband is joining and he's 39 😁
Your Husband is Awesome! We had a guy in our division who turned 40 in bootcamp he did great a lot of people looked up to him. Best of luck to you guys!

I joined the Air Force when I was 19, oldest guy in my bmt(boot camp) flight was 39. You’ll be just fine at 30. Being that old you’ll probably even get more respect operationally, as long as you aren’t immature.

Yeah it’s a thing but if it is severe. My back acne is horrible but thank god for accutane but my recruiter trying to get waiver so I can go do MEPS while under my accutane prescription.
That's really odd, because when I went to MEPS for the physical, one of the kids were shipping out, and his face is filled with acne. Not sure about now this was about 1 month ago, and I wish I was exaggerating on how bad it was but it was, but I imagine a couple back acne isn't gonna kill you?
Let's say if I do more than 4 years, like the fist four years will I be living on a ship and after my 4 years will I get like a dorm? Or how it works?
It depends on your orders but you will live in the barracks on base until you go on a deployment anywhere from 6-9months on a ship!
I'm 30. I can do more pushups, more pullups, more situps and run further than most Americans in their early 20s.

At 30, you're not anyone's "boy" anymore. You're also too old to wear your baseball cap backwards if that applies.
But, let's listen to what you have to say. I saw plenty of 25 and up people enlist during my career.
Age is just a number always be that child inside that got bigger & wiser!
