- It's time to get ready for the Prey Premiere on Hulu! So before we watch that we need to watch the classic PREDATOR (1987) . I was really intrigued by this and am so excited to see what the character is like in 2022 cinema. what are your thoughts on Predator ? Should I check out some more Arnold movies?

My dad took me to the theater to see this film back in the 80s and get to the CHOPPER? Not one person in the theater thought that was funny...Everybody was glued to their seats.
I'm sure this movie was quite the thing to witness in the 80s
Yup, the only laughter in the theater (when I was a kid) was when 'Hawkins' was tryna make 'Billy' laugh at those dirty jokes. And when Dutch said "You're one ugly motherfucker". 😆

Props in noticing that the Predator mimics its prey. When I learned that it was Billy’s laugh at the end that sent chills down my spine.

People often laugh at Arnie surviving a "nuclear explosion" but any explosion big enough will produce a mushroom cloud, doesn't have to be nuclear.

@@jessiwolvesreactions The actual lore states that it was a miniaturized neutron bomb which caused severe burns to Dutch's skin and a little bit of radioactive damage but the ending to this movie is acceptable because i'm not a lore purist. Also, they showed Yautja (the species the predator is) as what they really are. They're dangerous hunters who kill dangerous prey to advance their status in their tribe. They follow a code of honor and if they find a human worthy of confronting them, they will fight as this one did. Thank you for the reaction to one of my favorite movies and I hope your days are prosperous and blessed.

They had to find someone to compete with Arnold's muscles. They got 7' 3" tall Kevin Peter Hall to play the Predator. He was also Bigfoot in Harry and the Henderson's. -OG

Yaujta/predators can also thrive in mostly hot environments and live on a planet called Yaujta prime, plus they also live as clans and see in every spectrum, also there's two types of them and their mortal enemy which they've hunted for Millennia are a race called xenomorphs aka the alien, and sometimes they find a worthy opponent to fight and remove their masks sometimes when fighting, when defeated they use a bomb to eliminate any existence of them while on earth so that humans don't take their tech for themselves.
Well,there was a comicbook that had Dutch fighting a Predator in a cold environment.

I’m amazed 1987 was a great year for Rated R Science Fiction movies that had explosions, hardcore violence, great original soundtracks, etc.
Predator a Science Fiction Action movie set in a Jungle , and Robocop a Science Fiction Dystopian Drama movie set in Detroit.
it was definitely a fun watch
The movie was filmed in Mexico near the popular beach resort of Puerto Vallarta, on the coast 400 miles west of Mexico City.
Predator is a movie that was filmed in a real Jungle in Mexico which is why you are hearing real noises from an animal, also Arnold and the other actors really were sweating.
it must have been super humid in there.
Love that the release of Prey is getting people to watch this classic bit of 80s action.
Saw this way too young on a VHS copy taped from TV, last 20ish minutes were missed off somehow so I didn't catch mudbath Arnie vs Ugly Mofo showdown until years later.

Most people dont know that even arnold was dead in that movie. He told to the superiors about the predator and was taken to a mental asylum aftermath. And due to the radiation he got from the last explosion he passes shortly
11:08 You can't accuse the Yautja (Predator race) of being high-minded scholars or brilliant scientists, but they're not stupid either. If I remember correctly, they didn't exactly invent a lot of their tech, but they had the mental wherewithal to be able to copy, reverse engineer, replicate and repair it, high-tech medkits included.
They're very cool creatures for sure.

They’re obviously terrifying in their own right, but they’re an honor-based culture, which is why the original Yautja Predator wouldn’t kill Anna - no sport, as Dutch said. Also Dutch was such a worthy opponent/prey, the P1 Yautja wanted to cast off his plasma-caster and mask for a stand-up fight as you saw.
Check out the story of Machiko Noguchi, who was the first canonically blooded human because she fought the Xenomorphs alongside “Broken Tusk” who granted her his mark in a rite of passing.
Alien Theory is a channel that does the story Justice and I highly recommend it.
Fun fact - The pilot you see who is trying to keep the chopper stable after the explosion is the late Kevin Peter Hall, who was the actor in the Predator costume.

Predator 2 actually gives a bit more backstory on the Predator than Predator but I love both movies.
I'm gonna have to add it to my list of films to watch.
The jungle scenes were shot in Mexico and actually, the chopper pilot in the end played the Predator and the actor of Billy used to do porn!

Didn't realize this movie was such of classic. One of the first I saw. Arnold made so many good ones. It produced two governors and an Academy winner? I heard that. PREY was solid. I liked it. Anything that is organic and based and raw.

The Yautja (Predator Race) might be portrayed as a bloodthirsty, killing Machine with the first movie. The Predator in this Movie (Jungle Hunter) is actually a Initiate, sent to this Planet to prove himself becoming a Warrior by challenging and defeating the strongest Creatures here.
Those who are worthy of being a Challenge, gets honored by getting their Skull ripped from their Spine, as a Trophy. The Skinned People (Hoppers Crew) probably did something dishonorable in the eyes of the Jungle Hunter and as such they got punished. The Jungle Hunter lives by the Code of Honor like punish (Skin alive) those who try to retreat from a fight or kill unarmed people. Hopper probably did one of those two things.
The Jungle Hunter also never targeted or attacked the Girl, because she was unnarmed, following the Code of Honor. Billy was worthy of a Challenge and got his Skull ripped out.
If you watch the sequels you will learn more about the Yautja, the different Clans they are in, how they Hunt, What the Code of Honor consists of, their way of Life, etc...

Locations: Mexico Looked up El Eden, Mismaloya, Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. The rebel fire fight was shot at El Eden Restaurant about a 15 min drive into the jungle from Mismaloya on a dirt road south of Puerto Vallarta. When Predator was shot, El Eden was a restaurant in the jungle on a river with a waterfall that you could slide off of. It was outdoor dining & all of the food was grilled over wood fires. They had no electricity & served lunch only as they had to clean up before dark. My G.F. & I changed into our swum suits in the jungle, a little spooky but romantic too, before swimming in the river & over the waterfall. The food was great! This was a couple of yrs. after the movie came out, late 80's or very early 90's.

Backstory of the Predator's species, they are known as Yautja. Yautja are warrior species who hunt for sport and honor. This one in the movie was on his hunting trip as he left the mothership for Earth. Predator 2 is continuation from Predator 1. Interesting note is that action star, Jean Claude Van Damme was up for the role of Predator, but he either declined or not gotten the role because he was too short for the role. So, they hired another actor named Kevin Peter Hall who stands 7Ft. 2Inches (KPH had a cameo as helicopter pilot too). Speaking of Prey, one of the original actors who held that machine gun when he gotten killed by the Predator, Jesse Ventura gave thumbs up for the new movie. I think there are about 7 movies including new one of Predator.

(1987) Predator is a Science Fiction Action movie that does something fresh with the same style story as the successful short story The Most Dangerous Game.
The Most Dangerous Game is about a hunter that decides to start hunting humans because he became bored hunting animals. The Hunter is a human.
Predator uses a similar story since the Predator is a hunter that hunts humans.
Predator has multiple differences including the Hunter is a alien that used a spaceship to land on Earth before he begins hunting humans in a Jungle, has advanced weapons, a device he uses to become invisible, set in a Jungle, and the Predator is hunting Soldiers.
Those are reasons why Predator does something fresh with an unoriginal story, and why the movie Predator can’t be called a ripoff of The Most Dangerous Game which did debut a long time before Predator was released in movie theaters in the 1987 summer.
The Most Dangerous Game has movie adaptations including a remake that gets released this year.

There are female variants of the Predator but so far they've only been featured on comics and the PS4 game Predator: Hunting Grounds. They have yet to make their debut on the big screen at some stage.

Arthropod like Mandibles are the thing's on the face of the predator. Think of them as a jaw split down the middle. Since the Predator's eat raw meat they make it easier to feed on large portions and can also inflict grievous bite wounds in close combat.

Before watching the PREY? I'd suggest you watch PREDATOR 2.... Why? Because there's a certain item/subject that relates to all the PREDATOR trilogy.
Blain invented the overkill which I identify as unnecessary damage to a character or the environment in a film

Watching Predator 2 will give you a good understanding of the Predators and Prey is a prequel to Predator and will help you understand it better. Jessi you talked about watching The Clone Wars but you won't need that background info until Ahsoka comes out. The Bad Batch season 1 would be a better choice since it's scheduled for the fall release, it occurs right after order 66. The Mandalorian season 1 and 2 would be good before watching the CW since Mando season 3 is scheduled to be release before Ahsoka. Ahsoka is by far the most demanding series to prepare for since you would need the first 5 seasons and season 7 of the CW and as well as parts of Rebels seasons 2-4. If someone has a better plan for her please chime in. Jessi love your emotional reactions and your desire to understand the content.

um no..Watch clone wars then watch rebels then watch the bad batch in that order or you will spoil things ,,,Just like it's a primates channel is doing right now ...Any other way of watching it you're just in a rush
@@Pinkielover How does watching CW and Rebels spoil the BB? If you have seen the prequel movies then you're ready for the BB. The release dates of these animated series is not important but the story lines are not release date dependent. The BB occurs right after the The Revenge of the Seth movie and even tough the BB is introduced in the CW, you do not need it to understand it since it is self contained.
Mandalorian season 3 doesn't start until next year so there is time. The order to watch animation should be Clone Wars, Bad Batch, then Rebels. Mando is after Rebels. Clone Wars is essential for building Ahsoka and even starts The Bad Batch. Season 2 and 3 have two of the most important arcs of her development. It's also gets better season after season with a movie-like 4 part finale. D+ even has the shows in timeline order to help you figure it out.
An obvious flaw I can’t overlook is Dutch seriously asking the Predator “What the hell are you?”
He knows the Predator can’t be a human after visually seeing the Predator including his face.
Also saw the Predator had an extraordinary device he used to become invisible so he should have the conclusion the Predator is an alien.

A great film love Alan silvestri’s score the director also did die hard also checked predator 2 with Danny glover a good sequel.
In order to understand the Predators FULL back story you might want to check out the Alien franchise. The two species have a very !omg history together.

Nothing of that AvP bullshit is canon in the Predator universe except a mild hint in part 2. What they have done with the idea so far is horrific and abysmally bad.

Yes on terminator, t2 judgement day reaction, also alien and aliens are done by great directors. Terminator and terminator 2 are directed by James Cameron also he directed aliens and ridley Scott directed the first alien movie.

I saw prey and I was pleasantly surprised. It's not great, but it's good. Definitely better than the last two, but definitely not on par with the first two.

In that movie gives the info on the Predator race amd why it does what does. But i say to watch all the Predator movies. .....

He did a whole stand up bit mimicking Arnold, then the internet got it and the rest is history. And also think of the Predator like a Big Game Hunter. It's after the most dangerous prey, so it doesn't necessarily have to be attacked or threatened by who it's hunting.

Great reaction. I saw this with my dad in the theater at the age of 14 in 87 when it came out. We loved it. I watch it once a year at least. It’s so good & the 2nd film highly underrated. But it kind of ties into PREY. Funny how u said love the diversity. & u know what back then even at the age of 14 watching it they just made the movie & had awesome characters. There r just people to us & the right people for the job. It’s great that there is the diversity, but it’s not. At the expense of anything.u have to watch predator 2after that the other films r crap. But Prey is good!!

The Predator 2018, on the other hand, now that movie is just all kinds of stupid.

wait till u see prey... Man I'm in love with the movie I already watched it like three times.. I'd go even as far as saying it's the movie of the year with some minor flaws in it but that's only because of the budget and the time they spent on certain aspects.. But it doesn't take away from the movie at all ... I would say all the predator movies are mandatory except the one with Olivia Munn... There's references in the prey movie that you need to watch predator 2 to understand some of the Easter eggs.. This is what I would do...After predator after you're finished with this film watch predator 2 then watch predators ..Then you're set ...Alien versus predator is also fun
Hey Pinkie I loved this, however I did see Prey, I saw the trailer and had to check it out which is why my editor told me I needed to at least watch this one before it's release. Eventually I'll backtrack and check out the rest.
Arguably the most machismo film ever made. The filming locations were in Mexico. Predator 2 is a worthy sequel if you wanted to check it out, no Arnie and it's in an urban setting but there's more about the Predator's lore to be discovered. Two things I learned about Jessi. She's of Hispanic descent and she hates scorpions ( don't we all?) 🤪
