    I feel like that's amazing life advice "don't hold your breath, breath and everything will be fine." Great video Roman.

    Watching you practice 20 eyes and 20 dots and "counting" with the toothpick to know on which dip the shape will be the way you want it. It is SO insightful to see that hey guys it really is tons of practice. Look at Roman practicing eyes before doing eyes! Wonderful.

      ... and hopefully downloading the sheet and training yourself! Then all my goals with this video are reached! Thanks for your feedback!

    Now I'm motivated to paint more eyes. Normally I just paint a dark shadow.

    Painting eyes is nerve-wracking, often frustrating, but it never fails to bring me joy when I do it. Loving these videos Roman!

      Thank you for the feedback! Well, fail a thousand times I'd say then repairing gets less nerve wrecking. Been there, done that :)

    So simple when you think about some of the overlooked tips you've given here. Painting the one you're weakest at first just makes too much sense... and in 30+ year I've never thought of doing that 🤦‍♂️
    Love the video format and hope to see more of these.

    I’m working on my fourth of seven mini faces, following this video. I feel like I am making some progress, getting the shape of the almond black and white layers, usually missing the nose.
    Thanks for the encouragement and simplified method.

      Thanks, yes. It just makes sense. Learned that lesson for teaching miniature workshops the last 15 years. Always depends on the personality of the student and the character of the painter which way of explanation works best, but usually the 2d variant makes endless things very easy. More to come!

    Trouble is most people paint eyes over the raised surfaces on the mini, and start painting the eye that they're creating rather than fitting it to the miniature. A big part of this is not using the paint at the right surface tension to get in there - that usually means diluting.

  • @garyjenson8262

    Do you find that applying a satin varnish to the eyes after painting your own reflection dots will confuse a viewers eye?

    • @ROMANLAPPATMINIATUREART
      @ROMANLAPPATMINIATUREART  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, I think so. The reflection dot, painted by me gives the Imagination of gloss, that is why I painted it. As soon as anything else distracts from it I Lose control over surface properties of matte and gloss. There will be some tips and tricks about varnishes in a future advanced eye painting video!

    I have not been able to use the bamboo toothpick well. I am painting eyes on Stormiest Eternal models from GW. I find that it is hard to see where to place the dot for the pupil. The toothpick method seems to leave a raised texture. Am I doing it wrong?

    • @ROMANLAPPATMINIATUREART
      @ROMANLAPPATMINIATUREART  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sounds like your paint is too thick then when there is raised texture. Thin it a little bit and train on paper first before going on the model

  • @KM-jb3vg
    @KM-jb3vg ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I feel like my biggest issue is not being able to find a small enough brush, mine all feel like they're just small enough but if one little bit is out of place it's over and there's absolutely no room for error

    • @KM-jb3vg
      @KM-jb3vg ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I take my time. I try to be accurate and so on but what with the shaking in my hand no matter how much I calm it there's still slight there, I have to be quick and precise

    • @ROMANLAPPATMINIATUREART
      @ROMANLAPPATMINIATUREART  ปีที่แล้ว

      Roman: True. Room for error is not much when it comes to painting eyes. A brush you call a friend is necessary. Sometimes I do really bad eye painting days too.

    I think the mistake of most miniature painters is that they don’t practice or drill techniques. The boring stuff is what makes you good. Ask me how I know lol

    • @ROMANLAPPATMINIATUREART
      @ROMANLAPPATMINIATUREART  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, it is a big mistake. Growth comes only from training. Same with muscles.
