I'm no help. I like to go in there, tune the 1st 'e' string down a quarter tone and play "Stairway to Heaven". You really have to try it. The surprise when that first "a sort of flat octave" comes in is pure gold. Just like a melting carnival.

I feel that. Nothing worse than trying to quietly and respectfylly test out an old Fender amp you're about to drop $2,000 on and then never get to hear it cause some kid is loudly riffing beside you. I had this happen at a GC in Virginia once. Some 50 year old @$$hole with greasy dreads and a pirate bandanna who smelled like 2 weeks of B.O and stale bong water kept following me around playing "War Pigs". Worst part is, he had an elderly guy with an oxygentank tagging along...I guess his dad or grandpa who had to drive him cause he probably didn't have a license/car. Every part of the store I went to, he and grandpa would show up right beside me and he'd plug up there. I went to the pedals, he grabbed a nearby bass and WAR PIGS... Went to the keyboards... He grabbed a guitar by a pedal display... WAR PIGS... I finally went to the acoustic room where I figured I'd escape him... NO... I sat down with a nice used Taylor 914 i'd been wanting to try out... 5 seconds later, HERE HE COMES. He grabs a fck'n BANJO and "Dun dun dun" WAR PIGS. My wife was with me, and I kinda said to her "ah, that's cool... I didn't want to hear how any of these guitars sounded anyway..." and we left. Pirate, B.O, loser WAR PIGS guy, wherever you are, FUK YOU!

I love tube amps but there’s absolutely nothing that makes them inherently better. I run two amps, one tube, one solid state. The solid state has a sharper attack and quicker response by the very nature of it being non-tube, and it compliments the warm spongy tube amp sound perfectly. And, if I was running just one amp, it would be the solid state one. The tube amp is simply an accessory to it

Then he insulted me and said I should become a bass player. Most random and polite guy though. He was full of laughter so he was probably just laced on something with weed lol.
When you play a song like master of puppets, you don't alternate pick. Its downstrokes through most of that song, riff-wise. Its what gives the riff its power.
