Thank you Steven. This is a question I haven't stopped listening to for years and years. And your answer has been perfect, each job requires the right tool.
For a class A Surface modelling there are in Europe two industry standarts - ICEM Surf and Alias. I have 10 years experience of 3d surface modelling in Icem Surf and in my opinion this software is very efficient.
Nx is the only software i found that's great in cad and also cam. It has a super large toolbox to solve troubles in different ways. It isn't user friendly and the interface is overloaded with apps, menus and icons, old operations and new operations. Personally i find the new measuring tool disastrous. Thanks for the video, it was as usual, great.
The good folks at Siemens are really working hard to clean up the interface. The beta version I have of the next release has some great stuff. Personally, I love the measure tool. I am now used to it and I think it is a massive improvement. Plus, Siemens can't stop supporting the old tools. It is not in their DNA to quit that support so things kind of chug along. Thanks for the comment.
I am in the medical orthopedic implant industry. We use NX, but there is a push for us to use Solidworks. I used it 20 years ago, but cant advise on how it is now. Can Solidworks create class surfaces? If so, how easily? How editable? How finitely controllable? Any input would be appreciated.
Hey Steven, thanks for this video. Where can someone train to become a class A surface modeler? I used to work in Maya with NURBS surfaces, I loved it and was kinda obsessed with it, but I haven't used it in years. Now my question is Studio Tools still at the top of their game and where would someone learn to use these modeling tools? Do you hold classes maybe? If not, would you consider it, maybe a week course, or two...? Cheers!
HELLO SIR, I HAVE BEEN FOLLOWING YOUR CAD VIDEOS FOR CATIA AND NX BUT I COULD NOT FIND DRAFT ANALYSIS OF ANY OF CAD SYSTEM WILL YOU PLESE UPLOAD COUPLE OF VIDEOS OF THEM?
Ok I’m a rookie at real surfacing, I took a job using a 3D scanner and I’m looking for a software to reverse engineer scanned parts to be CNC machined or just provide the client with a cad model and 2D drawing. They had already purchased Polyworks inspector and modeler which in my opinion is horrible for our application. What softwares would you recommend looking into to speed up the process from the polygonal model or point cloud to a 3D cad model.
Its been 4 years now. the design industry has evolved massively. How do you relate now? Isn't Alias more capable of creating smooth transitional surfaces, used in modern cars? They're getting more and more complicated and the outer shells are all designed in alias. For a reason I think.
Well I'm NX guy just wanted to know about creo . Does creo have something NX doesn't ? Like skeleton modeling etc..? [ I heard it somewhere , though and i know Nx have wave geometry]
I just a did a year long transition of CREO to NX for a major client so I know this well. CREO has some amazing tools for sure. It uses 'Skeleton Models' (Skels) in a similar manner to NX but they have an actual Skel file type. They use the terminology 'Copy Geometry'. Internal (Geometry Link) and External (Product Interface)
@@chrischoir3594 thanks man... But wanna know is there any scenario where creo has upper edge than NX ? Trust me im no fan boy of any cad and always curious of new knowledge . I use product which is best. This involve taking informed decision inly after knowing everyone's capability..
Honestly Creo is probably the worst high end CAD package there is. There is nothing it does better than other packages like NX and, CATIA. Keep in mind Pro/E was the first parametric modeling software. Creo is just living off that legacy. NX is far superior to Creo
Steven, In your video you said that I have to ask myself, how do you wanna work for.I will go to work with reverse engineering in Catia V5 or NX. I want to make on a Mesh a class-A surface. do I have ask me the same question or is one of the two better in reverse engineering class A surfacing?
Hi Steven, I would like to make ask something that keeps coming in my career. I know Alias and have worked for years with it. Is there an open-source alternative to these programs? Even if it is not as polished as them. I understand Blender is a good alternative to Maya. Is there an open source Class A surface software?
I am talking about class A surfacing. And yes, Catia does have some tolls similar to Synchronous but not Convergent. But, Catia handles large STL's better in some ways.
class A surfacing i'd like to see what Catia can do with large STLs and where NX falls short, or vice versa. I've used Synchronous Modeling with A Class stuff before, mostly with imported geometry, replace, delete face and optimize face for example.
"What is the Best Class A Surfacing Tool" - Answer, none of them and all of them. This question always boils down to the same "It depends" answer so why even bother making a video? And once again boils down to the same "The views"...
@@ClassASurfacing Excuse me sir,my English is bad.I cant understand the video...I am a student, and i use rhino,i can creat sample Class A surface. But now,i will leave university, and get a job.I want to be a carbody modeler, but look like they dont use rhino. So do i need study which one software?I just have 4 moth times......

It is great to hear a non-biased professional opinion. Thanks!
I have my moments. Cheers!
I have been using NX cam for 15 years and I think it is a great package. I agree that one has to learn the tools well.
NX is powerfull. Flexible. Accurate. All in one.
i have been use NX for 11 years

@@ClassASurfacing thanl you steven for your affords to make these precious videos for all of us.

hi Steven
Which is the best for Molds??
tank you for all, your videos are incredibles
I just did a series for Siemens (I can't show them) on their Mold Wizard. I must say I was extremely impressed.

Lol... came here for Catia class "A" and found Gary Martin. Way to rep the "D"!
From a student's point of view what are we looking at? Solidworks anywhere in that list?

will be setting up our NX Mach 3 license this week!!!
NOICE!!! Let me know what you think.
Really nice tools.
Is it possible to have tools name along with symbol in catia? is there any such option?
Not in V5. All you can do is change the icon size.
Sir which is better to learn for Automotive surface Design.. Catia or NX.. ?
P.s. I know only Inventor and Fusion 360
Honestly though, in India your best bet is still Catia V5
ICEM SURF forever !!!
Alias for me.
Hello sir, CATIA or NX or CREO which software has great future and opportunities..??
NX and Catia
NX has synchronous modeling and convergent modeling. Does Catia have an equal? Not even close.

A lot of it is based off of how the software handles the data. I will toss something together. It may be a awhile as I am really busy at the moment.
whats with the blurry video????
My camera decided to take a crap. I will have a new one to do these types of videos.
Alias is as good as Maya for rendering.
