    Medicare 101 - Medicare 101: What is Medicare?
    There are two Parts to Original Medicare, Medicare Part A and Medicare Part B.
    You have two types of coverage you can choose, a Medicare Advantage Plan or a Medicare Supplement Plan, also called Medigap.
    Understanding your Medicare benefits can be a complicated and confusing process, MedicareBob and his team make this easy.
    Medicare 101: Medicare Part A, part B, Part C, and Part D explained.
    in this 2019 version of medicare 101 we are going to cover: Medicare Advantage and Medicare Supplement coveage types.
    Let's take a look at the basics of Medicare with Medicare 101.

    Part C or Medicare Advantage is not part of original medicare and is run by medicare-approved private insurance companies.
    In this medicare 101 webinar (video series) we are going to cover this plan replacing your medicare parts a and b with a private insurance plan and it must at least cover what medicare parts a and b cover.
    medicare part d or medicare prescription drug coverage helps cover the costs of prescription drugs.
    So medicare made clear is the first step to making an informed decision.

Question -- I will retire as a Federal Employee and would like to know how my Federal Health Benefits plan is impacted by Medicare (Parts A, B, C, or D). In other words, if I elect FEHB in my retirement years, do I have the flexibility of opting out of Parts A/B, and choosing a Medicare Supplement/Medigap?

    Question: my husband is still covered by his employer health insurance for a few more months. He suffered a stroke a few months after turning 65. We were able to sign him up for part A and B 3 months ago. We submitted the form showing he was covered by this private insurance.Since we still have great insurance I didn’t sign him up for Medigap yet. Is it too late to do that? I’m now worried. Ugh…

    Hi Bob, thanks for the Video. A point of clarification- enrollment in Medicare is NOT automatic. You must call Social Security Administration to enroll into Medicare and have a 6 month window (3 month prior and after birth money) without incurring penalties.

    • @MedicareBob
      @MedicareBob  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    spectacular video ... thanks. quick question: you said the only time you can get a guaranteed issue supplement is upon initial eligibility. are you able to switch within the supplement plans, e.g. from F to G, during an open enrollment period, or is switching also not guaranteed after initial enrollment? thanks again, pete

    • @MedicareBob
      @MedicareBob  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your question, when you turn 65 it is the only time in your life that one is eligible for any Supplement Plan that they want without medically qualifying without. There ar eother Guaranteed Issued rights, 7 of them to be exact that allow one to get certain Supplement Plans without medically qualifying. For example, if you have a Medicare Advantage Plan and then move out of service area then you are a GI for a Plan F if you went on Medicare Part A / B prior to 2020 and Plan G if you went on Medicare after 2020. Now, to answer your question, you will have to medically qualify to go from a Plan F to a Plan G and vice versa. Let me take some pressure off of you, Plan F, G and N are all AMAZING plans, so even if you get stuck in one of them, you are going to have great coverage. Also, in my experience, if a person is not healthy enough to change their Supplement Plan to a different one they are not upset because it means that their Plan is paying there bills while they are going through a medical issue. We only get "mad" at our insurance Companies if we are paying a ton of premium and not getting a return from them in the form of them paying claims for us. So basically, if you cant change it is because you are prob using the Plan a lot which means you are coming out a head. -Bob

    Thank you Bob!! Your video is excellent!! It helped a great deal for someone new to Medicare. Any suggestion on what criteria to compare ....my husband is Medicare eligible and can choose between between being on my insurance from work HSA Plan and Plan G. Currently, the premium at work is $198.29 for Medical per pay. There are 2 pays periods each mth. The family deductible is 3000.00. The MOOP is 10K

    • @MedicareBob
      @MedicareBob  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As long as you are still working and he is on your coverage, he can defer Medicare Part B and not be penalized. You are in the position of evaluating if he should stay on your coverage or go onto Medicare and add the Plan G. Based on the deducible you mentioned and the MOOP, it's your call. Part B is going to be $165 a month, the Plan G is going to be around $125 (I would need more info to provide an exact quote), part d is going to be $25 (again not exact quote). So would you prefer for him to pay around $300-350 have a $226 annual deductible and $226 MOOP or pay the $198.29 and stay on your coverage? I dont think there is a bad answer here... Call our office and ask for Marcus Graham, 1-833-463-3262. He will provide the exact cost for the part D and the Plan G.
      His health is a factor, if he is healthy then I am 50/50 on what you should do. If he has health issues, than put him on Medicare and the Plan G.

      You should get Part A automatically and you will not need to enroll into Part B until your Wife retires. At that point you will get your Part B and you will have your 6 month window for Medigap at that point.

      If you have try care how does that work I refuse to give it up.some one says it doesn't cost anything.
      Can you explain that to me

    • @wt88.
      @wt88. 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You will need to enroll in Medicare with Social Security Admissions. It is NOT automatic. I am also turning 65 in May 2022, you must enroll within 6 months (window is 3 months prior or after your birth month) without any penalty. I called SSA in March, and SSA scheduled a phone interview for me late April to complete my enrollment. Key Point- you must call SSA to enroll in Medicare now, it’s NOT automatic. You can also save yourself some time by registering online to create an account with SSA to avoid looking for personal info when speaking with SSA. Good luck. 😊

    Thanks for the video I just turned 63 but wonder if I will go to another country for a few months would I be covered by Medigap And if I cancel for a few months is it an option to reenroll when come back

      You would have a foreign benefit but not enough to only have it if you are out of country for more than two months.

      Yeah, it still holds true. MAPD plans are getting more attractive and Plan G medigap is still what I’m recommending.

    I’m on Medicare part d but never used it; or take any meds or drugs from pharmacology, only Functional supplements. Should I stay on plan in case of emergency admission to a hospital?

    • @MedicareBob
      @MedicareBob  ปีที่แล้ว

      I recommend keeping your Part D Plan, there is a penalty if you do not have one. I recommend getting a low premium part d since you do not take any meds. OR look into a $0 premium Medicare Advantage Plan that includes Part D at no cost. if you you like some help give us call: 1-855-368-4717.
