If the quad is a ways off, a light/ strobe makes it easier to determine orientation. FWIW, if solid on is OK, you can get a 9 segment LED "bulb" that is readily available for car dome light applications. It's meant for 12VDC, but works well at lower voltages as well.

I must admit that I haven't weighed the FIMI yet. I will, but I'm currently on holiday at the moment, so I will weigh it when I get home. I'm guessing, though, going by the specs of the Fimi 245g, the strobe weighs 6g, so it might weigh 251g Personally, if it were to weigh 251g, I wouldn't worry about 1 gram. Rules are rules, but honestly, are the police going to ask you to bring your drone down and weigh it?

Maybe it's brighter as one thing I noticed is the clear wrap that surrounds the leds is almost totally clear and on the previous version it was more "frosted," but I have no way to test the brightness unfortunately.
Really you should put a Warning on the Screen .... "Contains Flashing / Strobing Lights" For anyone who has Epilepsy or Suffers with Migraines , and to be honest NOT Point it direct to the Camera

Yes, it definitely helps in the daytime. I find green is the best for daytime, especially if you have lots of white clouds. Red seems good at night 👍

No, They Would Not Worry But Need It To See It In Lower Light Conditions For VLOS Distances. Could Be 251 Grams.

I have no idea which setting is the best for the FAA, green flash or white flash, or just bright enough any color?
Probably if flying at night white is the best as it seems the brightest.
Daytime white isn't good at all, especially if flying in white cloud
