The newspaper is meant to be tongue and cheek and meant to make fun of those newspapers that claim outlandish weird stuff that used to be rather popular in the check out lines of grocery stores etc. You know "My wife gave birth to an alien baby". "Elvis is really an alien and living in Tucson" etc. So, I'm not seeing comment about the co-worker as sexist. Also yeah, Palladium Games had the license and has it once again for Teenage Mutant Turtles. They're doing a Kickstarter or about to do one for a new print run of the core three books with some editorial revamping/changes.
Yep, Nightlife released a good year before Vampire and a good year before White Wolf became a company. I don't recall much about Nightlife, smaller indie publisher. If I recall it was a d100 system. Vampire of course was a dice pool system.
As an aside, I truly detest the term "splat book" that has become more common to use to describe something. That last book is exactly as it claimed, a "sourcebook". Just personal peeve, like terms like "life hack" and "home brew" as well.
