  • Music is an intricate part of our lives. It brings peace and melodies to our mind, and has always been a major source of entertainment from time immemorial. India, being one of the oldest civilizations of the world, has developed a unique music style of its own. These music styles have evolved vastly through the centuries and now together form the Indian Classical Music Styles. Hello and welcome back to our TH-cam channel. In today’s video, we have brought you the wonderful history of various music styles of India. So stick to the end of the video. Also described as Shastriya Sangeet, Indian Classical Music Style has two major traditions: the North Indian classical music known as Hindustani and the South Indian expression known as Carnatic. These traditions were not distinct until about the 15th century and have evolved from a parent style which was greatly influenced by the Sanskrit language. However, the basics of both of the styles is the same and involves two fundamental keys which are ‘Raga’ and ‘taal’. The raga is based on a varied repertoire of swara, forming a fabric of a deeply intricate melodic structure, while the tala measures the time cycle or you may say taal governs when one should upscale or downscale the raha. Additionally, with the passage of time, the Hindustani as well as the Carnatic classical styles further evolved into several regional music styles. Let’s understand each one by one.
