    Really enjoyed this.
    Used to live in Colne and walked to Downham market following the New Bedford River.
    Now Australia is my home but still feel the tug of a frosty early morning stomp in fen
    country.
    Thank you.

    That was very enjoyable Jamie, great narration, coupled with some stunners. I think sometimes we get complacent about our localities and yearn for something a bit different, just to mix it up. I think if you spoke to any photographer they will tell you the same thing..but at the end of it I think we all come to realise that what we have around us is what probably got us into landscape photography. You certainly sold the place to me. Looking through the images you showed here I would say there is a space in that L&L book that was discussed on the recent podcast - go on mate, get some together and give it a go, they wouldn't look out of place next to a Baxter, Bell or PG Johnson. PS You should take Gary out more often, he looked well happy - I often feel he don't smile enough :)

    • @JamieOverland
      @JamieOverland  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you’re right Alan. Most photographers know their local area well as they were out & about in it as child and have that connection. I think that’s a lot of it for me - I’m an only child and spent much of my childhood either in the Fen landscape with my father, fishing, or on my bike exploring places on my own. Being able to capture it now in the camera and share it with others is very rewarding. Thanks for your kind words and comparisons mate...I’m by no means in that company and have some way to go before I would feel my work merits judging to that standard...maybe in the future. As far as Gary is concerned, I think he’s a lost cause 😉😀

    Brilliant vlog Jaimie, I quite enjoyed it. Your love of the Fens comes through in a very genuine way. You are fortunate to live in such a wonderful area. Shame about the characters that occasionally turn up to spoil your fun! 😉 You mentioned fishing there as a kid, did you grow up and live in the area your whole life? Thanks for sharing. Cheers, Jeff 👍

    • @JamieOverland
      @JamieOverland  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Jeff...yes I lived in the area I was standing next to the river until I was 18 then left home to live in Peterborough which is also on the edge of the Fens. As I said in the film, it’s one of the main reasons I have such a connection with the place as I have so many memories there from my childhood. I’m pleased you enjoyed it Jeff - I hope you and the family and keeping safe and well

    Very enjoyable vlog Jamie, maybe your best for a while. Don't think anyone doubts your passion for the fens mate, personally I would like to see more vlogs similar to the Denver Sluice one you did some time back where you mix the landscapephotography cleverly with a bit of history (drainage, fen tigers etc) and your personal feelings and memories of the fens. Anyway, good luck with Holme Wood/Silver Birches when you can get there. (btw I think the voice over is a big plus) 👍

    • @JamieOverland
      @JamieOverland  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for your comment John. I'd like to go back to shoot around that area again as its an area I know really well. I must admit I found the shots of sluice and the mill to be challenging, creatively, apart from them just being standard 'snaps', but I will go back and try again now you've asked! I'll try and link it in with some of the fenland drainage history too. However in the meantime, you'll find me back at Holme Fen as soon as it feels right to get and vlog again
